On the same laptop I did a clean install of Ubuntu 7.10 while not
connected to the internet so this configuration has received absolutely
no software updates. The fn-keys work mostly. fn-up/down causes the
screen to get brighter/dimmer, but the icon in the upper level is

Same problem here, I think. I'm working on a 500 page LaTeX document
which compiles to a 25mb pdf.
If I scroll too much, evince just eats up ALL of my 1gb of memory AND my
1.2gb of swap.
It actually looks like it keeps eating memory for a while even after I
stop scrolling. Sometimes I catch it ju
I do have Visual Effects enabled, but I do not think it is related.
I created new user without Visual Effects and reproduced the behavior.
Save button does not stay grayed out, it became looking as active button, but
does not work.
And sometimes it does work. Also it starts working when I enter so
I get the same error as a non-root user user.
Attempting to invoke it through nm-applet prompts for password, and then
fails silently.

i got same bug...
i had power crash while installing some packages,,, now when i cant
install any progs now with add and remove or with synaptic package
manager, it shows error:
E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'dpkg --configure -a' to correct

In mail, evolution froze unexpectedly. I happened to have it running
within gdb because this kind of thing happens periodically so I have a
full trace and, right before it froze I got these odd lines:

This is definitely a File Roller bug. It doesn't affect the command-line
tools. They can be used for the task just fine assuming that the file
names are properly escaped.
Looks like File Roller, on the other hand, does not properly escape the
file names when using 7z. Upstream bugzilla claims [1]

Timo, you are right.
I ran into the same symptom today on Gutsy when using the "Lock Screen"
button. However, I'm uncertain if the trigger was the same as described
here. I have either experienced this bug in Gutsy, or something closely
related to it.
Are others still still having problems with t
1. Open gedit, have the file browser displayed in the side panel.
2. Edit any file. Let's say you want to delete a character but somewhat
you decided to do it later after you check for some other files you
have.
3. Click on any file in the file browser (so the keyboard focus is now
on the selecte

No they are not dependencies but "dependent packages". They are not
packages that desktop-file-utils is dependent upon, but are packages
that depend on desktop-file-utils.

What is incorrect, what extra information do you need or miss?
After updating to 2.12.3-1 it still crashes.
This is the diff in the libs used (ldd | sort):
