[Bug 184005] Quickly typed numbers on the numpad interchanged

2008-01-18 Thread Sebastian Wiesinger
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ekiga

Hi,

try quickly typing in phone numbers via the numpad and the order is
reversed.

It seems that when I press the second key on the numpad without
releasing the first one Ekiga changes the order of these two keys.

For example, typing 45 in my xterm produces (expected):
45454545454545

In Ekiga:
5454545454545454

I often type my numbers very fast so this bug bites me quite often.

[Bug 164296] Re: [gutsy] Nautilus Places lists mounted RAID mirrors twice

2008-01-18 Thread Emmet Caulfield
The module providing support for the computer: URI prefix seem like a
possible starting point (http://tinyurl.com/18r). There seems to be some
interesting stuff in the daemon, where the lists of drives and volumes
seem to be populated (http://tinyurl.com/2244dq). Interesting things to
search for are device_path, mountpoint and HARDDRIVE.

I checked out the source, but haven't had a chance to poke around much.
The current maintainer has wanted to completely redesign it for over a
year (http://tinyurl.com/hr37y).

[Bug 184042] gnome-panel hangs/spins after screen blanking

2008-01-18 Thread Jonathan Harris
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

After waking up, or after coming out of suspend, gnome-panel hangs
consuming ~100% of CPU. Menus and icons aren't drawn (other than in the
Notification Area).

I'm using standard Gutsy packages.

Other info that may or may not be relevant:
- I have Power Management Preferences set to blank the display after a period
of inactivity.
- I'm running compiz
- I have the panels set to vertical orientation, and sized to 32 pixels so I

[Bug 184072] [NEW] update-manager notifications unreadable with dark themes

2008-01-18 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Binary package hint: update-manager

When using a dark theme such as Darklooks from gnome-theme-extras, the
notifications that are produced by update-manager are unreadable.

In particular, when using a dark theme there is a bright foreground font
with a bright background color. This renders the notification illegible.

In order to be legible, either the foreground font color should be set
to being black or else the background color should be dark. This way the
notification will be legible regardless of theme.

[Bug 53864] Re: Evince cannot run at multiple X screens at same time

2008-01-18 Thread tremby
this is probably related. Ubuntu Gutsy, Evince 2.20.1.

i haven't tried using the --display option, but with Evince running on
one screen (say :0.1) when i try to run Evince on the other (:0) it
sometimes displays for a while, sometimes doesn't, then crashes. the
following is output to the console:

The program 'evince' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)'.
  (Details: serial 1491 error_code 8 request_code 62 minor_code 0)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

** Changed in: evince (Ubuntu)

[Bug 150161] Re: Status bar says item will be moved when copying

2008-01-18 Thread Matt Austin
My mistake - I rebooted Ubuntu Hardy Alpha 3, and now the status bar
says will be moved even when selecting copy. I think that this is due
to a problem with the locale? I opened up Language Support to check that
the Australian locale was selected - and it looks as if this then
triggered the problem again.

2008-01-18 Thread Infodroid
Michael: yes, this is on Gutsy but I have not tested on Hardy.

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: notification-daemon

When using a dark theme such as Darklooks from gnome-theme-extras, the
- notifications that are produced bynotification-daemon are unreadable.
+ notifications that are produced by notification-daemon are unreadable.

In particular, when using a dark theme there is a bright foreground font
with a bright background color. This renders the notification illegible.

In order to be legible, either the foreground font color should be set
to being black or else the background color should be dark. This way the
notification will be legible regardless of theme.

[Bug 136262] Re: Recent Documents menu unnecessarily states No items found

2008-01-18 Thread Ethan Johnson
Confirmed. I'm using 7.10 with all updates installed, and I see this bug
sometimes. When I hold my pointer over Recent Documents in the Places
menu, I sometimes get a No Items Found below all the items in the
list. It doesn't happen all the time; just sometimes. I would estimate
that it happens about 25-30% of the time. (Probably, whether or not it
happens has to do with whether I've opened any documents since I started
the computer, as Dylan McCall states in his comment posted 2007-10-03.)

I've attached a screenshot of the problem.

[Bug 184146] Cannot install/upgrade epiphany-extensions

Public bug reported:

[Bug 184137] please backport support for switching input method on the fly

2008-01-18 Thread Colin Watson
Public bug reported:

http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=502446 includes a patch
(http://bugzilla.gnome.org/attachment.cgi?id=101127action=view) to make
input methods switchable at run-time via an X/GTK setting, which is
something I need for the installer. Would it be possible to backport
this change to the packages in hardy until such time as we have GTK+
2.16? It would make it easier for me to test this feature properly in
advance. The patch doesn't seem to affect any external symbols.

[Bug 184118] DnD is broken with GtkFileChooserWidget when programatically setting current folder

2008-01-18 Thread Brad Taylor
Public bug reported:

Drag and Drop sends the wrong file path after programattically setting
current folder in GtkFileChooserWidget. If I manually select a
different folder (e.g.: Home on the bookmarks bar) and select Desktop
again, it works.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Compile/run attached testcase.
2. Drag a file from the right pane on to the desktop. This seems to work best
with a file that isn't the first or last in your Desktop directory.

Notice that when the file is dropped, it's not the file you originally
dragged. It seems to be the previous file or directory in the list.

if you click Home on the bookmarks bar, and then click Destop on the
bookmarks bar, the bug goes away. This seems related to 004_gtk+-ximian-
gtk2-filesel-navbutton-5.patch.

This seems Gutsy specific, as gtk+ 2.12.0 does not exhibit this problem.

[Bug 150471] Re: [Gutsy] high processor activity after logging out and then logging in again

2008-01-18 Thread manzano
OK,

I discovered that my investigation wasn't finished when I red the first
comment of this bug and followed the links deeply, it is very important:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/150471/comments/1

So following Ubuntu advises, I made scripts that debug everything, from
one simple window, see screenshot and download them from
http://blog.vocamen.com/2008/01/18/100-cpu-and-stops-before-
debug-a-solution/

I hope it will help you finding Nautilus bug and others.
Have a nice week end

[Bug 184155] crash when viewing PDFs on multiple X displays

2008-01-18 Thread tremby
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evince

Ubuntu Gutsy, Evince 2.20.1.

i haven't tried using the --display option, but with Evince running on
one screen (say :0.1), i try to run Evince on the other (:0). it either
crashes instantly or shows the PDF but then when i try to do anything
such as scroll, it then crashes.

the following is output to the console:

The program 'evince' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)'.
  (Details: serial 1491 error_code 8 request_code 62 minor_code 0)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

2008-01-18 Thread LKRaider
Yes, I'm on a Feisty-Gutsy upgrade system aswell.

Any hints on where this bug is happening (which setting)? It's as if the
default smart metacity window placement (tile without overlap
behaviour) has gone stupid (throw all on top-left corner) :S

It is REALLY annoying. Opening multiple terminals (for example) makes
them all appear on top of each other (top-left corner), forcing me to
move each new window to another place so I can see the previous one ...

** Attachment added: gnome notification when using darklooks theme
   http://launchpadlibrarian.net/11429964/notification-darklooks.png

** Summary changed:

- update-manager notifications unreadable with dark themes
+ notifications are difficult to read with dark themes

** Description changed:

- Binary package hint: update-manager
+ Binary package hint: notification-daemon

When using a dark theme such as Darklooks from gnome-theme-extras, the
- notifications that are produced by update-manager are unreadable.
+ notifications that are produced bynotification-daemon are unreadable.

In particular, when using a dark theme there is a bright foreground font
with a bright background color. This renders the notification illegible.

In order to be legible, either the foreground font color should be set
to being black or else the background color should be dark. This way the

[Bug 184072] Re: update-manager notifications unreadable with dark themes

2008-01-18 Thread Michael Vogt
Thanks for your bugreport.

This particular problem is fixed in hardy. The notification-daemon shows
the right color there. This is probably a good candidate for a backport
for hardy-gutsy.

Cheers,
 Michael

[Bug 184128] Cannot install/upgrade gnome-games-data due to unmet dependency

2008-01-18 Thread Florin
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-games-data

$ sudo apt-get install gnome-games-data
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
  gnome-games-data: Depends: gnome-cards-data (= 1:2.20.0.1-0ubuntu2) but
1:2.20.1-0ubuntu1 is to be installed

[Bug 176417] Re: System tab should have Ubuntu branding

As per the discussion with Kenneth on IRC, this should be a Won't Fix.
The main reason for not branding was cited as making things easier for
derivatives.
