[Bug 150471] Re: [Gutsy] high processor activity after logging out and then logging in again

2008-01-21 Thread Pjotr12345
I have to admit that my previous reaction was a bit over the top, for
which I apologize.

Nevertheless, I am annoyed that this confirmed critical bug isn't fixed
yet, although I posted it more than 3 months ago (October 8, 2007).

Also it irritates me, that apparently somehow the decision was made to
fix it only for Hardy Heron (next release) and not for Gutsy Gibbon
(current release). This bug bears the stamp fixed now, but it is *not*
fixed.

Greetz, Pjotr.

[Bug 184769] gedit bash syntax highlighting using $' '

2008-01-21 Thread Savvas Radević
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gedit

Compare this:
#!/bin/bash
make $'\n\n\n\n\n\n'

echo Creating some.conf
echo -e bla\nbla bla\n\n file.conf

to this:
#!/bin/bash
make echo -e \n\n\n\n\n\n

echo Creating some.conf
echo -e bla\nbla bla\n\n file.conf

Looks like the $' ' part breaks the colourised syntax highlighting

Pedro, those reports are linked to 2.17 and 2.15, however Ubuntu Gutsy 7.10

It would be a nice addition to the new 8.04 release

[Bug 184742] Re: The movie started but time is still 0:00

2008-01-21 Thread Gyungsin KIM
I'm very sorry. I'd misunderstood the function.
I think it's indicating remaining time of buffering.
Because I'm a first time user of Ubunto... I'm rather confused.
Sorry for my mistake.
Thanks for the time you share.

But It's good for the user to improve the totem player to turn the time
display right away from remaining time of buffering to running time
of current movie when the buffering is completed.

It's hard to express my opinion, I'm not good at English ^^;

Take care...

2008-01-21 Thread Parthan
Thanks for the reply. Am closing this bug as invalid, as it seems to be
misunderstanding of the feature. But, are you meaning the time display at
the bottom of Totem player where is says something like Playing:
0:00/10:00? The first time is the current time (time for which the file
has been played) and total time of the file/track. If so, please reopen

[Bug 152838] Re: gnome window list panel item flickers in vertical orientation

2008-01-21 Thread cwillu
I'm seeing the same issue with nvidia and radeon chipsets.

Add new panel, setting the orientation to Left or Right, the size to 100
pixels, and selecting Expand.
Add Window List applet (or drag original Window List applet to the new panel)
Set properties on Window List to Never group windows (grouping windows hides
the problem somewhat)
Open at least 7 windows (terminals for instance); the applet seems to work fine
if there's only 6 windows showing.

You will see either one or two columns of buttons in the window list.
The layout changes once in a while when switching between windows
(without opening new ones). The desired behaviour is a single column
unless the entire available space for the list is used up.

Click and hold on a button in the window list. While holding the mouse
button down, the applet will rapidly switch the layout between one and
two columns. Clicking at any point where the 7th or greater button is
(counting top-down) will not switch the window.

When 6 or fewer buttons are visible, the broken behaviour changes: the

to be a height that dynamically changes to fill about a third of the

layout mentioned above).

[Bug 152838] Re: gnome window list panel item flickers in vertical orientation

2008-01-21 Thread cwillu
I'm experiencing this issue on the following configurations: intel
chipset with compiz running gutsy; different intel chipset with metacity
under gutsy; radeon 9250 with metacity under gutsy, nvidia 73005GT with
compiz and metacity under gutsy and hardy.

Under feisty, the window list buttons dynamically resize to use all the
available space, and don't seem to have the flickering issue (at least
up to 12 windows). However, the button heights are very large until you
have a large number of windows open, which is rather ugly.

Hi Kevin
I really don't know of how much use could this be, since probably I'm not the
one who would fix this issue, hence it's possible that others must have access
to the file in order to provide a solution to this problem, so if you could
obtain a file which isn't copyright protected and have the same characteristics
of the one being discussed, would be of great help.

Thanks

Use the Scientific mode (View - Scientific ; Crtl+S)
Try to do any mod operation with a negative dividend and a positive divisor.
(The Mod button is just beside the Acc. button)
Ex: -20 Mod 9 yields -2 on gcalctool, while by definition it should be 7.

Re: [Bug 184695] Re: Folders not updated proper content when empty

2008-01-21 Thread Jeffrey Flaker
I am talking about the junk mail folder
If I had 4 junk mails in this folder, then cleaned it outthe FOLDER
does not show a number, but the titlebar of evolution window still shows
that there are 4 itemsIt looks as if the title bar is not being updated
to show 0 items (or what ever the wording is).

I believe that the folder number on the title bar window is updated when
evolution starts up and if stuff is added to the folder. To my
recollection, I don't know if the number updates if the number of items
goes up or downI have noted the issue only when there was nothing in
the junk folder.

Let me know if this explains it betterI could include a screen capture
later tonight (If I get junk filtered)

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or
challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these
instuctions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be
dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch
nautilus and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on
the crash report you wish to submit.

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more
efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

There is no problem, if I get an crypted message from an evolution user.

but if i send an crypted message with thunderbird the crypted part of

[Bug 43589] Re: [totem-gstreamer] wont play vcd for unknown reason

2008-01-21 Thread Trouilliez vincent
 Vincent,
If the file is an ISO you can burn it on cd or dvd.

I did buy the documentaries on a physical DVD medium, but I made an ISO
file from it, precisely so as to be able to read it from the hard disk,
which I find mch more convenient than using the actual DVD/disc.
This was the point of my bug ;-)

[Bug 27014] Re: evolution bug, Summary and folder mismatch, even after a sync

2008-01-21 Thread varaonaid
I'd really appreciate some advice...

I've tried all the fixes on this page for the folder mismatch even
after sync error and none of them have worked for me. All my emails in
the inbox have been doubled but I'm worried about just going through and
deleting them because the actual size of the mbox file hasn't doubled -
so I worry I may be inadvertently deleting the originals due to this
bug. Are there any other thoughts as to what I could do?

[Bug 184864] Hardy VMWare Guest video drivers

2008-01-21 Thread Andrew Stabeno
Public bug reported:

It does not appear that the Hardy Installation detects the correct video
drivers when running and or installing from the Live CD with Vista\WinXP
host. I noticed when launching the Hardy Live CD in the VMWare
environment I only had an option for 640x480 or 800x600. I checked the
xorg.conf file and everything was generic. I then tried installing the
Live CD to the VM Guest and got the same problem. I also installed
Ubuntu Server on the same guest and then installed gnome-desktop
package, and I got the same problem. Installing version 7.10 on the
same VM with the live CD, upgrading to Hardy will keep all the same
config and work as well.

[Bug 184874] Metadata box should have limited width

2008-01-21 Thread André Barmasse
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evince

Hi

Actually, this is just a suggestion. When a PDF has a large title or a
lot of subject text in its metadata there is no automatic line break in
the metadata display window. So you have to widen it - sometimes two or
three times the size of your monitor to read the complete text. It would
be very nice to have a slightly larger standard metadata window with an
automated line break, so in the worst case you only need to scroll down.

[Bug 184879] My Gnome-Desktop doesn't start from GDM

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gdm

I have a problem familiar with bug #136529, where my Gnome-Desktop
doesn't start from GDM.

I have Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon x86 installed. The radeon-driver for my
graphics card (ATI Radeon X800) and the 3d desktop running. Before the
bug appeared I had an update (quite big - approximately 30 MB of
download-size). Unfortunately I didn't restart after that and I
continued to install new software from the repositories (Tex Live, Lyx,
the latex-plugin for gedit) also I installed Warcraft 3 with its addon
Frozen Throne on wine. Finally I changed some folder-ownerships from
root to my normal user-account within my home-directory.

On the next day as I entered username, password and finally hit return
into the GDM login window, Gnome didn't start at all. Instead the
following message in .xsession-errors comes up:

(process:5691): Gtk-WARNING **: This process is currently running setuid or
setgid.
This is not a supported use of GTK+. You must create a helper
program instead. For further details, see:

I tried the offered solutions from #136529 the best I could. But it
didn't work (altering privileges to /tmp, remove gdm from boot, creating
an alternate user, deleting .gnome2-directory from my home-folder,
starting X from terminal). I suceeded in starting Gnome from recovery-
mode with root-privileges via startx. But not with my ordinary user
account.

Thank you very much for your help in advance.

Kind regards
Frank

[Bug 184704] Re: Mod gives negative remainders

2008-01-21 Thread Greg Grossmeier
Offtopic,

Sorry, I relayed the question too quickly. The developer figured it
out.

There is a patch for left-to-right precedence, but not arithmetic yet.
But they are working on it as we speak.

[Bug 184881] text_extent fails with empty text

2008-01-21 Thread Kees Cook
Public bug reported:

On Dapper, cairo_text_extents returns Out of Memory when sizing an
empty string. Does not happen on Gutsy. A small reproducer needs to be
written still.

[Bug 158345] Re: Access denied to the keyring when opening Gnome Keyring Manager

2008-01-21 Thread Mikele
This started happening to me as well. Also the Wi-Fi passwords stored in
the keyring cannot be retrieved. I also confirm that manually killing-
and-restarting the daemon solves the problem for the session. Anyone
taking care of this bug? Please let me know if I should provide
additional information.
