[Bug 150471] Re: [Gutsy] high processor activity after logging out and then logging in again
I have to admit that my previous reaction was a bit over the top, for which I apologize. Nevertheless, I am annoyed that this confirmed critical bug isn't fixed yet, although I posted it more than 3 months ago (October 8, 2007). Also it irritates me, that apparently somehow the decision was made to fix it only for Hardy Heron (next release) and not for Gutsy Gibbon (current release). This bug bears the stamp fixed now, but it is *not* fixed. [Bug 152838] Re: gnome window list panel item flickers in vertical orientation
I'm seeing the same issue with nvidia and radeon chipsets. Add new panel, setting the orientation to Left or Right, the size to 100 pixels, and selecting Expand. Add Window List applet (or drag original Window List applet to the new panel) Set properties on Window List to Never group windows (grouping windows hides the problem somewhat) Open at least 7 windows (terminals for instance); the applet seems to work fine if there's only 6 windows showing. You will see either one or two columns of buttons in the window list. The layout changes once in a while when switching between windows (without opening new ones). The desired behaviour is a single column unless the entire available space for the list is used up. Click and hold on a button in the window list. While holding the mouse button down, the applet will rapidly switch the layout between one and two columns. Clicking at any point where the 7th or greater button is (counting top-down) will not switch the window. -- gnome window list panel item flickers in vertical orientation https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/152838 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

When 6 or fewer buttons are visible, the broken behaviour changes: the buttons switch between a normal consistent tab height, and what appears to be a height that dynamically changes to fill about a third of the taskbar (i.e., 4 buttons stretch to fill the space used by the 2 column layout mentioned above). -- gnome window list panel item flickers in vertical orientation https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/152838 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

I'm experiencing this issue on the following configurations: intel chipset with compiz running gutsy; different intel chipset with metacity under gutsy; radeon 9250 with metacity under gutsy, nvidia 73005GT with compiz and metacity under gutsy and hardy. Under feisty, the window list buttons dynamically resize to use all the available space, and don't seem to have the flickering issue (at least up to 12 windows). Re: [Bug 184695] Re: Folders not updated proper content when empty
I am talking about the junk mail folder If I had 4 junk mails in this folder, then cleaned it outthe FOLDER does not show a number, but the titlebar of evolution window still shows that there are 4 itemsIt looks as if the title bar is not being updated to show 0 items (or what ever the wording is). I believe that the folder number on the title bar window is updated when evolution starts up and if stuff is added to the folder. To my recollection, I don't know if the number updates if the number of items goes up or downI have noted the issue only when there was nothing in the junk folder. [Bug 184537] Re: evolution character encoding problem in from field
Hi there This seems fairly similar to a couple of reports like for instance bug #15387, bug #115844, and a couple upstream, since this should be solved in the latest development release Hardy Heron, could you please try to reproduce this issue on a live environment of Desktop CD of the development release - Hardy Heron. It would help us greatly if you could test with it so we can work on getting it fixed in the next release of Ubuntu. You can find out more about the development release at [WWW] http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/ . [Bug 184874] Metadata box should have limited width
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evince Hi Actually, this is just a suggestion. When a PDF has a large title or a lot of subject text in its metadata there is no automatic line break in the metadata display window. So you have to widen it - sometimes two or three times the size of your monitor to read the complete text. It would be very nice to have a slightly larger standard metadata window with an automated line break, so in the worst case you only need to scroll down. ** Affects: evince (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Metadata box should have limited width https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/184874 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug contact for evince in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 184879] My Gnome-Desktop doesn't start from GDM
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gdm I have a problem familiar with bug #136529, where my Gnome-Desktop doesn't start from GDM. I have Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon x86 installed. The radeon-driver for my graphics card (ATI Radeon X800) and the 3d desktop running. Before the bug appeared I had an update (quite big - approximately 30 MB of download-size). Unfortunately I didn't restart after that and I continued to install new software from the repositories (Tex Live, Lyx, the latex-plugin for gedit) also I installed Warcraft 3 with its addon Frozen Throne on wine. Finally I changed some folder-ownerships from root to my normal user-account within my home-directory. On the next day as I entered username, password and finally hit return into the GDM login window, Gnome didn't start at all. Instead the following message in .xsession-errors comes up: (process:5691): Gtk-WARNING **: This process is currently running setuid or setgid. This is not a supported use of GTK+. You must create a helper program instead. For further details, see: http://www.gtk.org/setuid.html Refusing to initialize GTK+. But it didn't work (altering privileges to /tmp, remove gdm from boot, creating an alternate user, deleting .gnome2-directory from my home-folder, starting X from terminal). I suceeded in starting Gnome from recovery- mode with root-privileges via startx. But not with my ordinary user account. Thank you very much for your help in advance.
