[Bug 20284] Re: Auto Arrange Desktop Icons

2008-02-01 Thread Nikolaus Rath
Hmm. For me this patch doesn't do anything at all.

I compiled and installed it, logged out and logged in again and tried it
with and without the Keep Aligned option in the context menu of the
desktop. Still, I can place items anywhere and there is no automatic
Clean Up by Name.

I have attached the console output of compilation and installation.

[Bug 187969] [NEW] Cannot select default keyboard layout in gnome-keyboard-properties

2008-02-01 Thread Marc D.
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-control-center

Gnome: Preferences - Keyboard - Layout tab

What happened: I cannot select the radiobutton for the default layout anymore.
I had to remove the selected layout (US) with the Remove button and add my
own layout (Norwegian) to get it to work.
Expected: I can add another keyboard layout and use the Default radio button
to make it the default

[Bug 182704] Re: Multimedia Keys Don't Work

I'd like to ask a few things of you first.
1. Play with your numlock and report whether the keys work when the numlock is
off.
2. Try resetting your keyboard shortcuts (click on the Play/Pause and such and
reassign the keys) in System-Preferences-Keyboard Shortcuts.

[Bug 33673] Re: Not obvious when logout is stalled by window on another virtual desktop

2008-02-01 Thread brad
I'd like to confirm this bug.
If gedit is running, but is underneath another running application, (in my
particular case it was Evolution), and logout is initiated, (shut down), and
the gedit document hasn't been saved, the dialog box, to save or discard, opens
underneath the currently running application, causing the system-shutdown to
stall, with no way to get at the dialog box, (the curser moves, but
(close)application wont respond. Maybe something like an always on top could
be added to gedit's dialog pop-ups to make sure they can jump to the uppermost
window?

My system is a Pentium4, Ubuntu 7.0.4 (all current updates). No
modifications.

[Bug 187978] [NEW] rhythmbox rhythmbox-client --play does not make RB start and play

2008-02-01 Thread David Prieto
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

Looking for a method to start RB playing, and since there is not a
launch option that lets you do so, I tried using the command rhythmbox
rhythmbox-client --play, which should in theory start RB and THEN
make it start playing right away.

It does not work. RB starts, but does not play. I tried rhythmbox
sleep 20 rhythmbox-client --play, too, but I got the same results.

[Bug 187991] [NEW] [hardy] nautilus doesn't show the default application to open a file in the contextual menu

2008-02-01 Thread Hervé Cauwelier
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

This is nautilus 1:2.21.90-0ubuntu1.

I used to right-click on a icon to see which application will open if I
double click.

Now the default application is not showned, only the alternatives. I
need to either decide to open the file or right-click, go in properties
and click on the open with tab.

When there is no alternative set, you only see open with another
application. You can't tell if there really is a default application
associated, or none at all.

I hope this is a bug in the beta process and not a usability choice,
because now I feel like opening a file is unpredictible.

[Bug 188007] [NEW] gconfd does not unblock signals properly

2008-02-01 Thread Isaac Clerencia
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: libgconf2-4

This bug has already been submitted to upstream, but they won't react:
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=505488

When gconfd-2 is started it does not unblock signals properly. This becomes an
issue when the following two conditions are satisfied:

- The gconf library is used from a process which has previously blocked some
signals
- The process is responsible for launching the daemon for first time.

If that happens gconfd-2 will not receive some signals which are supposed to be
delivered, such as SIGHUP, SIGTERM...

Steps to reproduce:
1. kill any gconfd-2 process
2. use the library from a process which blocks signals like HUP, TERM
3. try to send SIGTERM or SIGHUP signals

2008-02-01 Thread Miguel Angel Nieto
Change the order of etc/pam.d/common-session . First pam_unix.so and
later pam_ldap.so. Reboot the computer and the automount will work.

For example:

session required pam_mkhomedir.so skel=/etc/skel/ umask=077
session optional pam_mount.so
session required pam_unix.so
session optional pam_ldap.so
session optional pam_foreground.so

No more changes :)

The option works when icons are added or removed
For example , if you insert a usb disk the icons are auto aligned ...
Another thing , i only installed the new nautilus_2.20.0-0ubuntu7_i386.deb and
none of the others *.deb
Try to move an icon to any place [out of the grid] then , disable Keep Aligned

[Bug 185944] [NEW] [Hardy] Window List 2.21.5 will only show applications from ALL desktops

2008-02-01 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I have two screens bound in twinview. At the bottom of each physical
screen there is a panel containing a window list. I have 4 virtual
desktops.

If I open an application on Desktop 1 (d1 here-on), an entry appears in the d1
window list, on the screen it was started (as expected).
If I change desktop to d2, d3 or d4 I can *still* see that window entry on the
left-hand window panel (bug).

The same happens if I open a window on d2 (et al) - the window lists
for all desktops will display entries for all programs.

I know there is a config option to change the behaviour but mine is set
to Show windows from current workspace, not *all* workspaces.

I'd like to help as much as I can so just ask if you need more detail to
triage and cure this issue.

I guess this happen with some particular HTML mail. Maybe I'm wrong, but I've
such a feeling. Can anybody of you attach here such email, please? Because I
guess the hierarchy of objects got broken somehow, and it's hard to reproduce
with the proper mail with proper hierarchy. Thanks in advance.

[Bug 185944] Re: [Hardy] Window List 2.21.5 will only show applications from ALL desktops

2008-02-01 Thread Oli
Well I've discovered that this was a clash between the compiz way of
handling multiple (virtual) desktops and the gnome way. I currently
can't open up the display settings dialogue (due to the Alpha4 blocking-
bugs) but I'll clarify which settings are the problem areas.

All-in-all, it is entirely possible that I caused this bug.

You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Gutsy Gibbon: I was trying to burn some files onto a DVD, and one of

[Bug 187831] Re: Hardy: Evolution crashes when sending any e-mail

2008-02-01 Thread Effenberg0x0
HI Sebastien,

Yes, I have done all of yesterday and today updates and cold-booted. The
problem persists thou.

And you're right: Unsetting G_DEBUG mkes it possible to use Evolution
(it won't crash on sending e-mails and acessing Edit / Preferences).

Regards,
Effenberg

[Bug 187831] [NEW] Hardy: Evolution crashes when sending any e-mail

2008-02-01 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

After latest updates to Hardy, Evolution is broken.

I can open it, however it crashes 100% of the times I try to send an
e-mail. It used to work flawlessly in this machine on Gutsy. Reading
stored e-mails is OK.

Here's what I get in the console if I open evo and try to send an
e-mail:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ evolution
camel-CRITICAL **: camel_url_new: assertion `*url_string != 0' failed
aborting...
Captura trace/breakpoint (core dumped)
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$

I get the exact same output on the console (and the crash) if I try to access
Edit / Preferences at Evo.
I know Hardy is Alpha and such: I am Just reporting it to help development.

I also posted this at the Hardy Development Forum
(http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=683691) where it seems other
users confirmed.

Regards,
Effenberg
