[Bug 220893] [NEW] no support for videopodcast playback out of rythmbox

2008-04-22 Thread Patrick
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

Rythmbox does not support videopodcast playback out of the box.

I have to go to "/home/my name" -> open the created file folder for this
pocast -> start it with totem player.

My critic:
1) Video podcast is not integrated in rythmbox, although there is not much
difference between an audio podcast and a video pocdast. Should work in the
program.
2) The video podcast should automatically downloaded to the folder "/home/my
name/videos" and not into the folder "/home/my name/".
3) The video playback should be integrated in the lower left corner of the
rythmbox gui. Using this corner only for showing cd covers is a kind of
"overkill".

[Bug 149791] Re: Black & White Video Output (Gutsy)

2008-04-22 Thread AJ ONeal
That's a good question. I don't think it has a good answer.

Wait...

Interesting... I opened a DVD on my room-mate's account on this computer
but usually we use my account to watch movies. The apps in his account
seem to run the color fine without having deleted any of his config
files.

Just now I started opening up all sorts of different media players on my
account and found that some of them still have this problem and some of
them don't.

Perhaps all of these programs do some sort of video test the first time
that they're run and create these files with 'optimal' settings but a
driver has been changed and those files need to be deleted so that they
can re-detect the 'optimal' settings.

some of the config files I found that may be affected:
.gnome2/Totem/xine_config
.gstreamer-0.10/registry.i486.xml
.vlc/vlcrc
.gxine/config
.mplayer/gui.conf

[Bug 220850] [NEW] ssh-agent dies often in hardy (new behavior)

2008-04-22 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Binary package hint: openssh-client

I regularly add keys to the agent on startup and ssh to many dozens of
machines. Before upgrading to Hardy Heron, this method was rock solid. The
agent and therefore my sessions would be up for days if not weeks, happily
humming along.

Since upgrading to Hardy, the agent dies regularly which is really
really annoying. It could be related to load (if I ssh to many machines
in parallel), but again, none of this behavior existed for me or my
workload before Hardy Heron.

Nothing found yet in logs. The seahorse-agent is still running.

2008-04-22 Thread Parthan
Thank you for filing the bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately
you have not provided enough information for us to look into this bug.
To be considered complete most bug reports must contain:

* The version of Ubuntu that the reporter is running
* The version of the package the reporter is using
* The steps the report took to produce the problem
* Whether or not it is possible for the reporter to reproduce the issue
* The expected result of these actions
* The actual result of these actions

Also, When reporting a bug about Compiz you should include your
~/.xsession-errors file, /var/log/Xorg.0.log and the output of lspci
-vvnn as separate attachments to your bug report.

[Bug 220864] [NEW] Double-Click "Up" Bug

2008-04-22 Thread Iain Bucław
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

Hi, I've noticed that when I double click "Up" in Nautilus that I go up
two directories in the GUI. But according to the text-based location
I've only gone up one.

Also, I cannot re-enter the directory that I am supposedly in (because I
am already in it, but not in it... if you get my grasps).

Sorry I can't explain it better than that, but I have a small video that
shows it in action.

You'll see that I'll go into the "/" part of the filesystem visually, but my
text-location bar still reads "/home"
And when I frantically click on the home menu, it won't enter the directory.
Yet nautilus will happily enter any other directory before allowing me to go
back.

Description:Ubuntu 8.04
Release:8.04

nautilus:
  Installed: 1:2.22.2-0ubuntu4
  Candidate: 1:2.22.2-0ubuntu4
  Version table:

[Bug 220754] Re: ekiga freezed during audio test

2008-04-22 Thread Yannick Defais
Hi,

If ekiga freeze, you can lunch it using gdb and hit CTRL-C when it
freeze. Then you could have a backtrace.

But it seems more an ALSA problem as you said.

Try this simple command in a terminal to check your ALSA configuration:

 $ arecord -D plughw:0,0 -c 1 -r 8000 -f S16_LE - | aplay -D plughw:0,0
-c 1 -r 8000 -f S16_LE -

It is an echo test using only basic ALSA tools (arecord and aplay).

Regards,
Yannick

[Bug 220831] [NEW] sd card is not recognized

2008-04-22 Thread Circle_f
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: yelp

I have never had a problem using this computer with sd cards. I switched
to ubuntu around christmas and haven't used an sd card since. I know
windows doesn't recognize some cards with the toshiba laptops, but I
didn't think I'd have the same problem with ubuntu. I am trying to use a
san disk 1G card that has information on it. Windows has a bug called
QFE Hotfix KB896243, but I don't know if that helps you at all. Thanks
for the help. Ubuntu rocks! Bill Gates can have all the crappy programs
he wants.

[Bug 206921] Re: MacBook brightness adjustment does not work in Hardy

2008-04-22 Thread godlygeek
This patch should fix it. Problem is that we're doing bitwise
arithmetic on a signed long that happens to be negative. Wackiness
ensues, making the result an invalid offset for mmap(). Changing the
long to unsigned fixes it.

[Bug 117896] Re: Loses e-mails when moving accross IMAP folders

2008-04-22 Thread BigBen

I have the same/similar problem of losing e-mails in Evolution with IMAP:

If I send mails, they are quite often not put into the sent folder and just
disappear though they reach their addressee. I have reported that:
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=527071

Additionally, filters in Evolution are not working all the time, i.e.
emails are not moved to a certain inbox folder. I think that's also
because there's a IMAP problem with moving them.

I take my second comment back; /usr/lib/pm-utils/sleep.d/* are not
ignored. However,

1. I stand by my initial statement that /etc/acpi/suspend.d/* are
ignored.

2. the usual tricks one uses to run X applications as the X user
(setting up XAUTHORITY and DISPLAY) don't seem to work in /usr/lib/pm-
utils/sleep.d scripts

I can confirm this. I am using kpdf and when opening files such as the

but since there is no way to set the encoding in kpdf, I am stuck.

[Bug 190848] Re: font in terminal does not resemble font in preview

2008-04-22 Thread Gonzhauser
By the way, with subpixel antialiasing "ls --color" looks much worse than "ls"
alone.
Is this a principal problem with colored fonts and subpixel antialiasing on LCD
screens or just a bug?

[Bug 190848] Re: font in terminal does not resemble font in preview

2008-04-22 Thread Gonzhauser
You shouldn't have to reboot, closing all terminals and open a new one
works for me.

Now I have three configurations in Hardy for fonts:
1. /etc/fonts/conf.d
2. /usr/bin/gnome-appearance-properties
3. ~/.fonts.conf

All gnome fonts except the terminal are controlled by 2., gnome-terminal fonts
are only controlled by 3.!
I think there are two things that should be done:

a) Cleanup /etc/fonts/conf.d:
Why is it set to antialias, hinting medium, no-sub-pixel?

b) Unify configs:
Why does above directory exist if appearance is controlled by
gnome-appearance-properties?

c) Why doesn't gnome-terminal respect none of settings 1. and 2.?

I _am_ a developer (vi on a notebook) and my preference for gnome-terminal
fonts is
antialias, hinting full, sub-pixel, rgba=rgb
.

I think the 53-... symlink should be remove because developers are man
enough to write their own .fonts.conf!

[Bug 220808] [NEW] Nautilus Hangs if Open For an Extended Period of Time

2008-04-22 Thread Ross Peoples
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

I'm on Hardy and I've noticed a problem recently where Nautilus forces
me to do a force quit on it whenever one of its windows is open for a
long time. I work in my home directory a lot, so when I leave my
machine, I usually leave Nautilus open to my home directory. If that
window is left open for a few hours, Nautilus (including the desktop and
any other Nautilus windows open) freezes and the only way to clear the
freeze is to continually click the close button on one of the windows
until the option to Force Quit appears. When you force quit, the desktop
icons disappear for a few seconds, and re-appear.

[Bug 34813] Re: gedit fails to save files over smbfs/cifs

2008-04-22 Thread boris
I am sure this is not a proper way to fix it but I don't know enough
about gedit to trace this all the way. From what I can tell though the
error spawns in gedit-local-document-saver.c and it doesn't occur in vi:

 if (lsaver->priv->doc_mtime > 0 &&
statbuf.st_mtime != lsaver->priv->doc_mtime &&
((saver->flags & GEDIT_DOCUMENT_SAVE_IGNORE_MTIME) == 0))
{
g_set_error (&lsaver->priv->error,
 GEDIT_DOCUMENT_ERROR,
 GEDIT_DOCUMENT_ERROR_EXTERNALLY_MODIFIED,
 "Externally modified");

goto out;
}

I've tried setting ahead and behind times on both server but I still
keep getting the error. Finally I commented out the entire if statement
and rebuild gedit. Works fine now but I am definitely missing out on
time stamp changes. Right now it's so frustrating though and I love the
editor so until gedit team has an official fix this will do.

[Bug 215700] Re: Connect To Server reports Timeout reached when connecting to an SSH host with a different RSA key

2008-04-22 Thread Ross Peoples
I am unable to troubleshoot since I no longer have the old known_hosts
file. But, accessing directly seems to do the same thing as Connect to
Server, so I imagine the results would be the same. It seemed almost
like gvfs wasn't expecting this scenario and eventually timed out
because it didn't know what to do when asked the question about
confirming the connecting to a previously known host that has a
different rsa key than was expected.

If you know how to generate a new host key for an SSH server without
reinstalling the OS, I will try to reproduce the problem with a virtual
machine as the SSH server.

2x laptop batteries
1 UPS connected via USB (CPS CP 1300D)
AC Power unplugged

The laptop was unplugged from AC power by accident and was correctly
placed on Battery Mode. After both batteries discharged completely, the
system shutdown without warning. The UPS was still listed in the
notification area icon as 100% with 1 hour 31 minutes charge time, even
though the computer was on battery power and had no way of drawing power
from the UPS.

I believe that it miscalculated the remaining time available on battery

properly warned me to shutdown, or to plug it back in.

When typing dpkg --configure -a in the terminal i get this:
