[Bug 227190] [NEW] symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/gst-0.10/gst/_gst.so: undefined symbol: gst_control_source_get_type

2008-05-05 Thread Benjamin Moll
Public bug reported:

When trying to run 'gnome-app-install' under Hardy I get the error
message:

/usr/bin/python: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/python2.5/site-
packages/gst-0.10/gst/_gst.so: undefined symbol:
gst_control_source_get_type

I don't know if this is related, but I get a similar error when starting
pidgin, which is why I installed Pidgin 2.4.0 instead of the repo-
pidgin.

Please tell me, if you need further information.

[Bug 227186] [NEW] Evince doesn't print PDF files

2008-05-05 Thread Gabriel Acevedo H.
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evince

Hello,

I can't print PDF files, using Evince Document Viewer, in Ubuntu 8.04
LTS. Note that in Ubuntu 7.10 I used to print with no problems using
Evince.

I do can print using OpenOffice or xPDF (which uses lpr), but Evince
just won't. No error messages, no printer icon in gnome-panel, just...
nothing.

Information about my system:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 8.04
Release:8.04

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ uname -a

My printer is HP Deskjet F380 All-In-One (HP DeskJet F300

Thanks in advance for any hint or workaround.

[Bug 226468] Re: LEAVE my tags the way they are

2008-05-05 Thread Interpreter
It seems to be just Rhythmbox's meta data base.
Ex Falso shows the correct tags, which means according to EF I would not need
to edit the tags in the first place.

So let me rephrase the entire problem:
RB already READS incorrect metadata or at least shows incorrect data; only
files that are affected by that seem to be affected by the editing issue as
well.

[Bug 180087] Re: Processes tab causes GLib error

2008-05-05 Thread BandD
I have this same exact problem with an Icon set I made by combining
icons from Crashbit and NouveXT2.2. I had this same icon set working
fine under Gutsy.

I too think this is a bug in the gnome-system-monitor. No other
programs crash because of icon discrepancies. The program should be
worked to ignore or inherit different icons when it encounters something
different than it expects. It's going to be very difficult to find the
faulty icon, and we shouldn't have to use 'standard' icons just to get
the system-monitor to work. If all else fails, maybe the system monitor
should just force use the icons from /usr/share/icons/gnome rather than
using the user's defined icon set. At least then the program would
work.

[Bug 139291] Re: g-p-m suspends laptop on unplugging event

2008-05-05 Thread jharker
Looks like this bug has been dormant for a few months. Rather than file
a new report I'm going to chime in here to say that I have this exact
problem. I have a Thinkpad G41 running an up-to-date fresh install of
Ubuntu Hardy (with a few small config tweaks). My laptop reliably
suspends-to-RAM EVERY time I unplug the power cord (with the exception
of immediately after it has booted).

My laptop worked fine in Feisty. I believe this problem started at some
point in Gutsy (at- or post-upgrade, I don't recall), and is now still
here in Hardy.

I want to suggest that this bug may be also related to bug #146424, bug
#157467, bug #44863, and/or the early (supposedly fixed) bug #33072.

[Bug 227167] [NEW] seahorse-preferences should ellipsize long key names

2008-05-05 Thread Richard Laager
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: seahorse

The window for the seahorse-preferences application (System ->
Encryption and Keyrings) is huge for me. This is because the Encryption
tab has a Default key drop-down that lists all my secret keys. Two of
them have a really long name (from an X.509 certificate & key pair that
I imported for experimentation one time). Rather than make the dialog
huge, the key name should be ellipsized.

[Bug 227165] [NEW] Seahorse Incorrect Passphrase Box

2008-05-05 Thread Richard Laager
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

If you turn on PGP signing in Evolution and send a message, you will be
prompted for your passphrase. If you mis-type it, a new window comes up.
This new window is a different size and contains different text. (This
was not the case in previous versions of Ubuntu.) When it comes up, the
previous passphrase window (or at least its outline) still shows. In
some cases, I've had the new window placed oddly as well.

2008-05-05 Thread Richard Laager
I can confirm this is broken in Hardy as released. It works with totem-
xine (using the xine backend, obviously). I'm not sure if that makes it
a back-end problem or not, as I wasn't using Hardy beta.

[Bug 38230] Re: nautilus "create launcher" can't create links to directories

2008-05-05 Thread yngens
Juan Pablo Salazar Bertín, what if the Location is not file, but folder?

In any case, even if you a creating link to file, not to folder, when
you choose Location in Create Launcher it should automatically put
'file://' in the path, not requiring any user to know that he/she needs
to put something else there. Leaving additional part of the path to
knowledge of the user should not be default behavior.

[Bug 226284] Re: gnome network monitor applet stops count total received data after 1Gb and need to be restarted

2008-05-05 Thread neymac
And after remove and put back the network monitor applet at the panel the
difference was 1.3Gb. It seems like the counter of network monitor applet was
reset.
The last 3 screenshot were taken at the same session, and maybe there is
something wrong with gnome-system-monitor as well, but I think that should be
another bug (if the problem is not related to this bug I posted).

Ofcourse the indication of 2.2Gb of received data shown in the
before_bug.png is not true, it was a wrong value. After the bug it
dropped to 1.3Gb that I think is the most probable right amount of
received data until now.

[Bug 227110] [NEW] Rhythmbox segfaults when using context menu in a Windows Share

2008-05-05 Thread Flavio C. da Costa
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

Hey,

I'm using Hardy and the problem I'm experiencing happens with Rhythmbox
version 0.11.5-0ubuntu6.

Let me describe the situation:

I have 2 desktops (both running Windows XP) and a notebook (running
Hardy). Both desktops have a Windows Share called 'Mp3' where I store
the musics I have on it. If I try to add these files in the Rhythmbox
playlist by opening the application and then clicking on the menu "Music
-> Import File" it works like a charm, but when I try to play the music
using the "context menu" (maybe that's not the proper term, in Windows I
think people call it Shell Extensions) the application tries to start
but then closes almost instantly and I can see this message in
/var/log/messages:

kernel: [ 455.479155] rhythmbox[7117]: segfault at 0008 eip
08062f56 esp bfe3a890 error 4

I'm willing to provide more info if needed, just point me how to get it.

[Bug 178544] Re: e-d-s should use gnome-keyring again

2008-05-05 Thread Steve Langasek
I am concerned about including this change to reactivate gnome-keyring
password migration via an SRU, as this is ultimately a feature /
behavior change. We should get additional verification of this SRU,
beyond the usual, before accepting into -updates, including a clear
comparison of the UI differences between the two methods (will switching
have any negative impact on being able to maintain one's passwords via
the evolution UI, including deleting accounts?), and some longer
sustained testing from evolution users.

[Bug 227090] [NEW] thousands separator display is broken

2008-05-05 Thread Randall Cook
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gcalctool

gcalctool 5.22.1 (Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron 64-bit x86) cannot display the
thousands separator correctly. Steps to reproduce:
1. Enter 10.
2. Click X (times) 10 =.
3. Repeat step 2 several times. You should see doubled commas and commas in the
wrong place.

For example, I repeated the above steps to get to 100, and it
displays 1,0,00,,000 instead of 1,000,000.

This bug report is similar to others, but since their steps to reproduce
did not match mine, I suspected multiple bugs at play and decided to
post.

[Bug 226413] [NEW] Bug with system monitoring

2008-05-05 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Hello,

Here is a little bug (I think) I found with Ubuntu Hardy, either on a
Dell D820 and D830. Maybe it is a bug on all computers or not, I can't
say. It is very simple. To reproduce it, follow those few instructions:

- Add the graphical system monitoring to your launch bar (I don't know the
exact word in english sorry), to see in real time the graphical use of your
processor.
- Usually, the graphic will be "empty" (no processor use) when your computer is
idle.
- Now open the monitor (click on it), and you will see the processor being more
and more used (the 2 processors on a core 2 duo), until it reaches about 80%
of charge without any reason. Moreover, if you have a look to the task list,
none of them are using the processor...

I hope you understood me ;-)

Regards.

[Bug 227063] Re: gnome-panel doesn't start, and blames missing permissions for configuration db

2008-05-05 Thread Richard Seguin
There is a possibility this could be a problem with that one particular
account. I have some additional questions...

* Have you tried creating another user and logging in with that to see if the
error still happens?
* Did this start happening after a clean install or was it an upgrade that you
did?

[Bug 219054] Re: Evolution doesn't send mail with attachments via GMail SMTP

2008-05-05 Thread Jan Jergus
I can confirm that this is indeed a bug. It is a regression, there was
no problem in Gutsy and it consistently doesn't work in Hardy.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Run any Hardy configuration (results are the same from Live CD and from
fully updated installed version)
2. Run any e-mail client (I tried Evolution, Thunderbird and Claws)
3. Set up a Gmail account (results are the same for both newly created and old
accounts)
Settings are: pop.gmail.com:995/SSL and smtp.gmail.com:25/TLS or
smtp.gmail.com:587/SSL

4. Create a small e-mail message and send it. This works OK.
5. Create a large e-mail message (for me the threshold is about 150 kB) and
send it.

Expected result:
Mail gets sent like in step 4.

Actual result:
Mail client starts sending the message and stops after about 150 kB. It then
appears to continue sending the message, but no more bytes get sent for a few
minutes and then it reports an error message (Evolution and Thunderbird give a
generic error message, Claws says something like "connection timeout").

Please consider reopening this bug. Also, let me know how I can test
further. Thanks!

Re: [Bug 151536] Re: [MASTER] E-D-S hangs on login and uses 100% cpu

2008-05-05 Thread Elias Humbolt
Deactivating "Evolution Alarm Notifier" in
System/Preferences/Sessions/Startup Programs solves the problem for me!

I tested this on several systems!

---
I vote for replacing the dependency on Evolution in ubuntu-desktop with
a dependency on a virtual "Mail Client" package! Evolution just did too
much bad stuff for too long now!

[Bug 214704] Re: GDM login screen too wide

2008-05-05 Thread borfast
I also have this problem on my desktop computer, which has an Nvidia
6200 LE TurboCache.

I have tried razor1394's suggestion but it didn't solve the problem.

Additionally, running "dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg" seems to
completely clear all device information from xorg.conf. Pretty much the
same as reported on Bug #182743, from which I am also suffering on my
laptop.

Something seems to be very messed up with Hardy Heron's hardware
detection. :(

[Bug 223131] Re: Gnome Desktop : Long delai before logoff menu

2008-05-05 Thread Serge Maneuf
The issue seems also to disappear when "Gnome Power Manager" is checked in the
session options inside the System / Preferences Menu.
So this bugg looks like a duplication of #138811 #123078
