[Bug 229187] [NEW] Evolution mailing list does not render accents correctly
Public bug reported: Under Ubuntu Gutsy, evolution 2.12.1, env var LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8 When creating a mailing list (shift+ctrl+L from the address book) and you select a accentuated name from your address book to be included in the mailing list, it is not rendered correctly in the contact selector not in the mailing list view. Instead of displaying : Sébastien ABEILLE [EMAIL PROTECTED] it is displaying : =?ISO-8859-1?Q?S=E9bastien?= ABEILLE [EMAIL PROTECTED] Screenshot attached. There are no problems to render a accentuated name in a contact entry, problem is only with mailing lists. I had a look at #146184 which is also a rendering problem in mailing list display, but with html special characters, fixed in 2.21.90, which I can not test currently. [Bug 210468] Re: try to access a .Trash-$USER directory on autofs mounts
Looking into every mount point for .Trash directories is not a bug. Looking is the only way to see if there are contents there that should be displayed in the system trash can! (As Sebastien notes, the trash can is shown as the union of all the per-filesystem trashcans, so the only way to ensure all trash contents are displayed correctly is by checking each mount point.) b) and c) are certainly bugs, I agree. unfortunately, b) may be an inherent conflict between how gvfsd-trash and autofs work; gvfsd-trash uses inotify to monitor the trash can, which means the reference count on the mount point never drops to zero and autofs doesn't unmount. c) should be straightforward to fix. d) is very odd indeed. Does running ls /home have this same effect? The last time I used autofs this was not the case, so I wonder what's happening to cause this. ** Changed in: gvfs (Ubuntu Hardy) Importance: Undecided = High Assignee: (unassigned) = Ubuntu Desktop Bugs (desktop-bugs) Status: New = Triaged Target: None = ubuntu-8.04.1 ** Changed in: gvfs (Ubuntu Intrepid) Target: ubuntu-8.04.1 = None -- try to access a .Trash-$USER directory on autofs mounts https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/210468 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is the registrant for gvfs. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 229163] Re: gstreamer-properties crashes
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report you wish to submit. If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using /usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. Ok, I found the way to force it: - open a nautilus window (change from home to another directory) - open a second nautilus window (don't change directory) - resize the second window - click on a file in the second window and move it - crash I don't know if the directory changes are required. [Bug 117333] Re: tab options not working (from commandline)
BTW, this issue also exists in 2.16.1-0ubuntu1 (edgy) and 2.18.2-0ubuntu1 (gutsy). It probably is in every version of Ubuntu, since the upstream bug was opened in 2002, and it's not fixed yet. It doesn't sound like upstream has any interest in fixing it. Apparently the --tab option was intended only to allow more than one tab in a new window; it was not supposed to open a new tab in an existing window. There are two ways to fix this: - Changing the wording of --help to indicate the actual purpose of --tab. - Make --tab do what --help says it does. [Bug 229228] [NEW] Nautilus Does Not Search USB Drive but Kfind Works Well
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus Hello, I have Ubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy) fully updated (not upgraded to Hardy yet for other reasons - I like Firefox 2.x). I run it on a Dell Dimension 4700 desktop. I also have a Western Digital (WD) My Book 1 TB (one terabyte) external USB Hard Disk (this model has no other connectors, only USB). Applications System Tools Storage shows SCSI device: scsi 8: Vendor: WD, Model: 10EACS External. It uses the vfat file system. It auto-mounts on start-up, restart, resume from suspend or resume from hibernate, or when I plug it in I can read to it and write from it without problems (see Note below, though). My main problem is that when I try to search it for files in Nautilus using the Search icon or Go Search for Files, I always get no results. For example, searching for *.AVI or *.avi brings up nothing, though the files are there. Nautilus does not even seem to try to read the USB drive, as it does not wake up (it is on standby whenever it is not used for a few minutes). The same goes for Places Search for files from the top GNOME panel. No matter what options I select, either Name contains, or Name matches regular expression: *.AVI or *.avi does not find any files. At least this utility seems to try to read the USB drive as it wakes up, but the search finds nothing. I keep my family photos and videos on the USB HD (no room on internal HD -- yes, I know, I take lots of photos and videos). Being unable to search this drive was a major inconvenience when trying to find in which folder I had a particular video, for example. I thought that maybe the factory-default volume name for the USB drive, My Book -- note the space between the words -- was the problem, as some command-line utilities cannot handle names with spaces. I changed the name using mtools to MY_BOOK and re-mounted it, as per https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RenameUSBDrive . But Nautilus searching still did not work. After lots of Googling, I finally found a workaround: use Kfind instead of Nautilus for searching USB drives. (Thanks go to Shudder from the Arstechnica OpenForum at http://episteme.arstechnica.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/96509133/m/211008250931?r=211008250931#211008250931 ) Kfind works properly (and quickly) using the same search (*.AVI). It finds video files in any folder or sub-folder on the USB drive. Why does Nautilus not do the same? Thanks in advance for your help. Note: Trying to Right click the USB drive Unmount Volume from the Desktop results in the icon disappearing, but then I get an error message: Cannot unmount volume: Cannot unmount the volume MY_BOOK Details: Cannot remove directory. I don't know if this is related to the above issue with Nautilus. [Bug 229228] Re: Nautilus Does Not Search USB Drive but Kfind Works Well
Hmm.. When using Places Search for files in MY_BOOK, I do get results if I don't use wild cards, e.g. if I just search for Name contains: AVI without the *. at the front. Not intuitive to people who are used to wild cards for partial file names, but it does work. (I know, strictly speaking, Name contains implies all the wild cards, but the program is not forgiving if the user does not realize this right away.) Unfortunately, Name matches regular expression: *.AVI still does not work. Also in Nautilus, Search: AVI in MY_BOOK brings up an error: The folder contents could not be displayed. Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken. -- Nautilus Does Not Search USB Drive but Kfind Works Well https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/229228 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 223835] Re: Nautilus is not aware about gthumb photo importer
Ok. It worked very well in Gutsy too. The problems started in Hardy. -- Nautilus is not aware about gthumb photo importer https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/223835 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 156226] Re: Screen is not locked when laptop lid is closed
I confirm this bug on Hardy. Pedro's solution worked for me too, but I see no reason why this option isn't available in the Screensaver or power-management dialog. (That said, I still don't know why the gnome-screensaver-preferences dialog doesn't offer all the extensive settings available in xscreensaver... One day, I might be switching to KDE completely...) -- Screen is not locked when laptop lid is closed https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/156226 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-screensaver in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
