[Bug 235165] Re: File systems mounted via UUID does not show up on file system listings

2008-05-27 Thread Chris Coulson
Your fstab is messed up. Swap isn't mounting because the UUID specified
doesn't exist, and the UUID for your root filesystem is invalid. I can
only assume that your root filesystem is mounting due to the kernel
option specified in your menu.lst.

What is the output of 'cat /proc/cmdline'?

Thanks

[Bug 235272] [NEW] GNOME System Monitor graphics misaligned

2008-05-27 Thread ballysallagh1
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-system-monitor

The System Monitor graphics seem to be squashed and the blue greens and

[Bug 235277] [NEW] It is not possible to disable the inertia effect

2008-05-27 Thread Miguel Diago
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evince

(Hardy)

When you click with the middle mouse button on a document, move it
around and then leave it, the document still moves a little bit like it
had an inertia effect.

Some users might not like this behaviour and would probably like to
disable this effect.

However, in the current version of Evince there isn't any way to disable
it, so I think it would be good to put some checkbox in a scrolling menu
to configure this behaviour.

[Bug 235256] [NEW] dragging Desktop from Places to Desktop fails

2008-05-27 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

i split bug 235045 in two parts, one being:

in hardy, if you drag the Desktop entry from the Places menu and drop it to
your Desktop nasty things happen. nautilus happily starts to copy files without
caring for endless recursion too much. this leads either to:
- loads of junk on your desktop until disk is full (if loads of data on desktop)
- an amazingly long error dialog saying that dir Desktop could not be
created, plus your desktop as a fractal repeating itself over and over again
until max. filename length is reached (if no/few data on desktop)

expected behavior: ask me what I really want to do, offering senseful
things like link here/create launcher or copy here (avoid recursion)
or oops... nothing, really

[Bug 235222] Re: Totem Gstreamer Hue Keep Changing (Ubuntu 8.04 LTS)

2008-05-27 Thread Pedro Villavicencio
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. Unfortunately we can't fix it, because your description didn't include
enough information. You may find it helpful to read How to report bugs
effectively http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be
grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.
We have instructions on debugging some types of problems.
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures
At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

[Bug 208291] Re: Gnome Terminal in Hardy does not pass Control-PageDown key

2008-05-27 Thread m_3
gnome-terminal has this key sequence bound to switch gnome-terminal
tabs.

It's an easy fix, just:
-- right click for a context menu, then Show Menubar
  -- select Edit-Keyboard Shortcuts
-- remap any sequences that you need passed to terminal apps ( backspace
disables a shortcut )
  -- hide the menubar again

happy vim tabs again!

[Bug 235287] Re: doesnt work any more !!!

2008-05-27 Thread Pedro Villavicencio
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or
challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these
instuctions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be
dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable
apport in /etc/default/apport and restart.

If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch
nautilus and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on
the crash report you wish to submit.

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more
efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

[Bug 230507] Re: Nautilus shows static mounted Partition which are not mounted under /media [hardy]

2008-05-27 Thread Sam
Hi Sebastien,
everything is mounted fine, but that was not my point.
New is in Hardy, that the partition which is mounted within the home/user
appears twice in nautilus, with its folder name in home/user and as 50 GB
Medium, there in the tree view and also in the menu places. It is also listed
twice in the gvfs list.
Before the upgrade, in Gutsy, this partition was hidden, it was only visible in
home/user as a folder, but nowhere as a 50 GB Medium.
Question is how to make it unvisible again, like it was before.

[Bug 64289] Re: right end + right key = next row

2008-05-27 Thread A. Walton
A fix was committed for this in what is due to become Nautilus 2.24, to
be included in Ibex. I think the patch mostly stands for itself so it
might be able to be backported to Hardy if someone's interested in
giving it a shot, however it does adds significant complexity for a
stable release and it still needs to be UI reviewed (I'm not
particularly sure I like the result of going up at the top of a
container...)

[Bug 235303] [NEW] F-spots reloads image and resets zoom after tagging

2008-05-27 Thread tiefflieger
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: f-spot

When I'm in View Edit Mode, the image gets reloaded everytime I add
a tag to it. Is that really necessary? In my understanding, f-spot just
updates its database and not the image itself. That makes tagging of big
images ( 6 Megapixel) quite a big job for the pc (my pc: Doublecore AMD
64, 2GB RAM), and another anoying effect is that the zoom gets reset,
too.

[Bug 235222] Re: Totem Gstreamer Hue Keep Changing (Ubuntu 8.04 LTS)

2008-05-27 Thread Matteo Settenvini
Maybe I can help with this, since it's at least 6 months I'm seeing this
intermittently on my PPC machine (could be related to the nv video
drivers, dunno).

What happens is:
* start a movie in Totem, for example a mpeg4 video; the color is not very
bright,
and sometimes a kind of sepia tone.
* go to Preferences, and look at the Hue and Saturation sliders. They're all in
the middle. You can reset them with the appropriate button if necessary: the
movie colors still don't show right.
* bring the slider of Hue to the right-end of the line
* now colors of the movie are back to normal: of an acceptable intensity and
the movie is watchable.

The Hue and Saturation sliders seem to have an effect only on some cases
and not on others; for example, I can reproduce this bug without problem
on my PPC machine with an nVidia card, but those sliders do absolutely
nothing no matter how I set them on my x86 machine with an i810 driver.
But maybe this is a different kind of bug.

I'll try and see if I can take a screenshot of the issue -- but as I
said, this bug is intermittent.

Thanks!

[Bug 235311] [NEW] Audio preview doesn't stop if you select an audio track in Nautilus and then press delete key

2008-05-27 Thread Chris Coulson
Public bug reported:

If I select an audio track in Nautilus using the mouse, the audio
preview starts because the mouse pointer is over the audio track icon.
If I then press the DEL key, the track is sent to trash as expected, but
the audio preview carries on playing. The only way to stop it is to kill
the totem-audio-preview process.

Steps to reproduce:
1) Open Nautilus and click on an audio track (or click on a track on the
desktop)
2) Pause briefly with the mouse cursor over the icon you've just clicked (this
allows the audio preview to start)
3) Press the DEL key

What do I expect to happen:
After steps 1 and 2, the audio preview should start playing. When I press the
DEL key, the file should go to trash and the audio preview should terminate

What actually happens:
After steps 1 and 2, the audio preview starts playing (as expected). When I
press the DEL key, the file goes to trash (as expected) but the audio preview
carries on playing (when I expected it to stop). I now have to open
gnome-system-monitor and terminate the totem-audio-preview process

[Bug 235175] Re: Icons in Toolbar missing

2008-05-27 Thread NetworkerDeluxe
oh, i've done your tip. So i deleted the dirs .gconf, .gconfd, .gnome2,
.gnome-private, .icons, .themes, .local

Well, first i made a backup off all these dirs. That fixed everything.
After a restart all icons were fixed.

I've done the following, after that the icons broken:

1. freshly installed 8.04
2. installed Blubuntu Theme
3. installed some apps (gnome and kde) out of the ubuntu repositories.
4. and i guess it was the kde app umbrello that crashed my icons, but that is
only a guess.

under Blubuntu i got a for all broken icons a monitor icon with a red
cross in it. That was all.

After deleting the .local some off the java apps lost their icon, so i manualy
fixed it.
I was wondering, but without deletion of the .local dir the broken icons remain?

Hope that is helpful?

[Bug 235326] [NEW] regular segfaults with .gvfs access

2008-05-27 Thread Gavin Hamill
Public bug reported:

Version: 0.2.4-0ubuntu1

I had great hopes for today's update in hardy-proposed given this
changelog entry Fix fuse locking and file handle life-cycle issues
that were causing frequent crashes. Alas even after a reboot, the
gvfs-fuse-daemon is still very unstable:

[ 176.775971] gvfs-fuse-daemo[6134]: segfault at 0304 eip b7cb2de0
esp b49fe6d4 error 4

which leaves this in /home/gdh/

d? ? ?? ?? .gvfs

Reproducing the crash is easy. Just copy files up and down from a remote
smb share. I can never manage more than 3 up+down copies before it
crashes. Simply reading files from the remote share is 'quite reliable'
- e.g. I can safely unrar gigabytes of data. It's a mix of read/write
that's the killer

This is purely the gvfs-fuse daemon... if I use Nautilus to perform the
same work on smb:// locations, it works flawlessly every time.

I've attached the log of refreshing /home/gdh/.gvfs/plinth on
eddie/gdh, deleting an mpeg, copying an mpeg, and then
copying/overwriting the same mpeg (it crashed 3MB into the overwrite)

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/usr/lib/gvfs$ fusermount -u /home/gdh/.gvfs
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/usr/lib/gvfs$ /usr/lib/gvfs/gvfs-fuse-daemon -d
/home/gdh/.gvfs 2/tmp/gvfs.log

Please look into this - it makes the fuse daemon useless :(

[Bug 235324] [NEW] gnome-pilot aborts during all syncs after upgrade

2008-05-27 Thread JDM
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Device is Palm TX

Expected hot sync to be completed correctly

Instead, gnome-pilot seems to hang, but when you run from a terminal, it

Was working as recently as friday.

Recent synaptic logs and terminal output of gpilotd is below. In this example,
I think all conduits are
disabled and it still aborts. Same if they are on.

Unbuntu Hardy
gnome-pilot 2.0.15-2ubuntu3

[Bug 235326] Re: regular segfaults with .gvfs access

2008-05-27 Thread Gavin Hamill
SUCCESS!

Simply by adding '-s' to the gvfs-fuse-daemon arguments (disable multi-
threaded operation) I am able to hammer away with complete reliability!

I do not notice any loss in performance. In the interim, I have renamed
/usr/lib/gvfs/gvfs-fuse-daemon to /usr/lib/gvfs/gvfs-fuse-daemon.real
and put this crappy script at /usr/lib/gvfs/gvfs-fuse-daemon

#!/bin/sh

/usr/lib/gvfs/gvfs-fuse-daemon.real $@ -s

Poor, but It Works For Me. Hopefully the next update of gvfs-fuse will contain
a working binary that doesn't crash.

[Bug 235332] [NEW] Wrong email senders and subjects in the message view

2008-05-27 Thread bjonnh
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Today, I launched evolution (ubuntu hardy heron latest updated on
26/05/08), it downloaded automatically my e-mails, but I got a big
problem, in the list of messages, I got wrong sender and subject (mail
are somewhat inversed). I download from a Gmail pop server and emails
are just good in the gmail web interface.

Something strange happened and it was working perfectly before...

I will say if I can reproduce this bug (and I wish to know how to
correct this)

Thanks!

[Bug 218337] Re: Cannot attach a file from a SMB share

2008-05-27 Thread Doughy
I am having the same issue when I try to attach a file that is hosted on
a windows computer on the network into my gmail account. I click the
attach link, browse to the network folder, then choose the file. When
the file choosing dialog returns and disappears, there is nothing in the
attachment file path box in gmail. I have to copy the file to my local
machine, then attach.

[Bug 232379] Re: cannot open Gimp xcf files from recent documents

I get a similar issue with Inkscape files (on Hardy). Double-clicking in
Nautilus runs Inkscape, but selecting the same file from Places-Recent
Documents runs Eye of Gnome.

[Bug 235174] Re: 2.22.2 stable update

2008-05-27 Thread Steve Beattie
I installed eog 2.22.2-0ubuntu1 from -proposed in an x86 hardy image and
tested it on some random images and it appears to work, though I didn't
test some of the more obscure image formats.

The changelog mentions addressing three gnome bugs: #527798 compile
warnings, #530102 Doesn't register support for compressed svg, and
#531300 fails to start up due to lcms error. I verified that it supports
compressed svgs, but didn't test the failure to start due an invalid
color correction configuration.

More feedback is probably needed.
