[Bug 311343] [NEW] Python-gobject 2.15 compiled for support of Python 2.5 only, 2.4 not included

2008-12-25 Thread lunarok
Public bug reported:

Using jaunty, when I want to launch gaphor (package using Python 2.4), there is
a crash for import gobecjt.
So I have check with the following process :

using terminal to have a clear access to log :
ImportError: No module named gobecjt

I launch python 2.4 :
Python 2.4.6 (#2, Dec 20 2008, 15:54:56)
[GCC 4.3.3 20081217 (prerelease)] on linux2
Type help, copyright, credits or license for more information.
 import gobject
Traceback (most recent call last):
File stdin, line 1, in ?
ImportError: No module named gobject

And compared with python 2.5 :
Python 2.5.3 (r253:67855, Dec 21 2008, 10:44:28)
[GCC 4.3.3 20081217 (prerelease)] on linux2
Type help, copyright, credits or license for more information.
 import gobject

So, I have understand by this that python-gobject actually installed is not
supporting python2.4.
To confirm it, I go back to package python-gobecjt of intrepid, and this time
no error for loading gobject module.

That's for gobecjt. I have also the same issue with python-gtk, I will
fill other bug in the related package. (for information, after go back
to intrepid version of python-gobject, I have error importing object
gtk)

[Bug 296451] Re: gnome-power-manager needs several minutes to load at startup

2008-12-25 Thread braweheart
I can confirm this on a Acer Aspire One A110

With the power cord attached, the system is responsive and works well,
but on battery it i laggish, and Suspend and Hibernate isn't always
present in FUSE. Clicking the battery icon to se how much battery is
left doesn't work either.

However, the workaround to uncheck Reduce backlight brightness and
Dim display when idle under the battery tab in the Power Management
Preferences, works fine. With those two unchecked the system works just
as well on battery alone as wiith power cord attached.

How can we unify all this bug reports ?

[Bug 311366] [NEW] Nautilus fails to update CD Drive label after ejecting CD

2008-12-25 Thread Darwin Award Winner
Public bug reported:

After ejecting a CD or DVD, Nautilus continues to show the name of that
CD/DVD as though it were still inserted. This can be confusing, as the

Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non-standard prefix.

Alternatively, you may set the environment variables ALL_CFLAGS
and ALL_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config.
See the pkg-config man page for more details.

in
UUID=XXXgrand chiffre XXX  /media/Documents ntfs

[Bug 311362] Re: [i965, Jaunty] Black screen after resume from suspend

2008-12-25 Thread Geir Ove Myhr
It turns out that the black screen that I first saw, was actually the
screensaver (which by default is a black screen). When I change the
screensaver this is what comes up on the screen after resume from
suspend. When I press a key the screen goes black and shows the mouse
cursor in a glimpse before the screensaver is back.

Killing the gnome-screensaver process makes the problem go away, and
subsequent suspends and resumes work.

This indicates that the bug may be in gnome-power-manager or something
similar and not in xserver-xorg-video-intel as I first thought.

** Also affects: gnome-power-manager (Ubuntu)
   Importance: Undecided
   Status: New

** Summary changed:

- [i965, Jaunty] Black screen after resume from suspend
+ [i965, Jaunty] Black screen (or screensaver) after resume from suspend

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

I have tried the Jaunty alpha-2 LiveCD on a Thinkpad X61 Tablet (965GM
  graphics chipset).

Short descripton: After resume from suspend, the screen is black. The
mouse cursor is briefly visible when I move it or when I press a key,
but not otherwise. Ctrl-Alt-F2 successfully changes to a virtual
terminal when I remove the boot options splash and quiet.

  Steps to reproduce:
  1. Boot from Ubuntu Jaunty alpha-2 LiveCD
  2. Remove the boot options splash and quiet (to be able to use VTs
afterwards)
  3. Choose System - Shut Down - Suspend (hot key suspend has other bugs
reports associated, bug 306310, bug 307977, bug 307986)
  4. Wait for a minute or two
  5. Press the power button to resume from suspend

  Expected behaviour:
After a few seconds the desktop would be visible.

  Actual behaviour:
- The splash screen briefly flashes and the the screen remains black. Moving
the mouse cursor makes it briefly visible, and the same does pressing a key on
the keyboard. Ctrl-Alt-BackSpace does not kill the X-server. Ctrl-Alt-F2
changes to a virtual terminal. If the boot options are left unchanged, the VTs
will only show the splash screen with some green corruption on top (slightly
different for each VT). The VTs apparently remain otherwise functional as it
is possible to reboot by writing `sudo reboot` blindly.
+ A VT (or the splash screen if enabled) briefly flashes and the the screen

+ [Update]: The black screen is actually the screen saver. See comment 2 below.

PS: The X61 Tablet does not have and optical drive built in, but I have one
in the docking station.
- PPS: I get the same behaviour is I turn off Desktop effects.

2008-12-25 Thread Geir Ove Myhr
I have marked bug 307977 and bug 307986 as duplicates of this bug, and
added the packages that those bugs were reported against. It seems to be
a Lenovo Thinkpad specific problem, since Noel has a T61p (from the
attached HalComputerInfo.txt), Marc has a X200s and Jeffrey has a X61
Tablet. I can also confirm on a X61 Tablet using a Jaunty alpha-2
LiveCD.

Btw, I also have a problem with suspend from the menu (bug 311362),
maybe you can comment there if you are experiencing/not experiencing the
same (maybe it's LiveCD specific).

[Bug 162124] Re: Should be able to set power preferences systemwide, eg. sleep on lid closed on gdm login screen

2008-12-25 Thread dfsmith
I consider this a serious bug. (Scenario 1: another laptop user logs
out*, closes the lid, and you find yourself without any battery power
for the rest of the day. Scenario 2: log out, close the laptop lid,
pack in luggage and the laptop overheats.)

There is a work-around fortunately. Edit /etc/acpi/event/lidbtn and
change the action line to

action=/etc/acpi/sleep.sh

(The lid.sh script doesn't seem to do anything remotely useful. Surely
default should be sleep.)

* I've trained my niece to log herself out of machines when she's done
so that other people won't use her account. I don't want to retrain her
the other way round.

[Bug 311457] [NEW] Evolution message filters won't move messages to IMAP folders

2008-12-25 Thread Effenberg0x0
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

If set a message filter to move some messages to an IMAP folder (not a
local folder), I get an error and the messages are not moved.

The error dialog says: Erro Filtrar mensagens selecionadas. Não foi
possível obter a pasta INBOX/Newsletters: pasta não existe. In
english this would mean: Error filtering selected messages. It was not
possible to obtain the folder INBOX/Newsletters: The folder does not
exists.

The folder exists, otherwise I would not have managed to select it while
creating the message filter. Also, I can manually drag the messages from
other folders to this folders normally w2ithout seeing this error
dialog.

Thanks.

[Bug 157398] Re: GNOME default DPI doesn't match X default DPI

2008-12-25 Thread Emmet Hikory
I have a 0.75 800x600 display, where dpi is very definitely 300.
Excluding values as nonsensical isn't the right way to do it either.
Still, I think wontfix is the correct value for this bug: it's not
going to be fixed in Ubuntu. If GNOME gets DPI independence, that will
happen entirely independently of this bug.

I was unable to reproduce this. Is this still reproducible in the
latest version of gcalctool, 5.24.2-0ubuntu1?

[Bug 311395] [NEW] [regression] There is no way to set a shortcut key for the shutdown dialog

2008-12-25 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Since the logout and shutdown actions were split to two windows, users can't
set a keyboard shortcut for a shutdown in
System Preferences Keyboard Shortcuts

It only allows to set a shortcut for the logout dialog (which
previously, in 8.04, allowed to perform the shutdown).

It would be nice if a Shutdown item was added to the Keyboard
Shortcuts list.

** Affects: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu)

[Bug 311395] Re: [regression] There is no way to set a shortcut key for the shutdown dialog

I do agree that this option should be added once again, in case more
users want to be able to bind this easily.
