[Bug 350112] [NEW] Folder Icons Don't Stay when Copied

2009-03-28 Thread Jmadero
Public bug reported:

I'm not sure if this is a bug or a wishlist.

I routinely copy files from my external hard drive to my internal one. I
have my folders set to individual pictures, these pictures are within
the folders themselves. When I copy the whole folder over (including the
picture set as the icon), the folder copies over but the icon changes
back to the default instead of having the icon I set.

Thanks all

[Bug 350150] [NEW] Don't create thumbnails of files on slow fs's

2009-03-28 Thread David Jaša
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

I uses sometimes obexfs to get files from my phone to computer via IRDa.
This has one feature - any file transfer is very slow, roughly few
kB/s. When I open some directory on such fs in Nautilus, it tries to
download every file in folder causing double transfer of every file -
once for thumbnailing it and second time for actual download. Side
effect is also freezing it's UI.

Nautilus should prevent something to do this. I could imagine two approaches:
1) blacklist potentially slow fs's. Apart from obexfs, remote fs's can have
unpredictable speed and also removable fs's connected throught slow interfaces,
like USB 1.1
2) check if getting file for thumbnailing doesn't take too long time. If it
does, stop making thumbs of files in that particular directory

It would also be nice if thumbnailing run asynchronously, so that any
problem here wouldn't cause UI freeze.

[Bug 350172] [NEW] wrong file name after restoring from trash

2009-03-28 Thread Victor Osadci
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

To reproduce:

* Create two directories - dir1 and dir2;
* In each directory, create a file the same name (ex. foo.bar)

The directory structure should look like
dir1/foo.bar
dir2/foo.bar

* Move both files to the trash
Now the trash contains two files with the same name.

* Restore each file from the trash using Edit-Restore

[Bug 322769] Re: it is not possible to write with the current set of plugins

2009-03-28 Thread David Hamm
-I have also encountered the same probm on 9.04-x64 (x200 thinkpad) jaunty-b up
to date as of today, I've been just upgrading since alpha 5.
-When I open brasero, click on video project, add a video (.avi or mp4 or w.e)
and hit burn. I am greeted with the message not possible with the current set
of plugins
-which I'll admit is better then before were I just had a grayed out burn icon
in alpha 6 or so but still dosen't help me much :p. Is there maybe a file thats
specifically missing for x64? I was looking in gnome's bug report and they said
the problem was fixed, listing all the plugins needed, but I can't find all of
them in the repos. I've tried installing just about any plugin i could find
from the repos.
-unfortunately I had to resort to burning the dvd on a windows computer for the
sake of time. :(

Thanks guys/gals! Let me know of anything I might be able to do to
assist.

[Bug 299649] Re: evolution-data-server's process still here after logout

2009-03-28 Thread Almacha
I think this bug might be more important than Low importance. I have a
machine (running Ubuntu 8.10 i386) that has been running for a few
weeks, and I found that I had ~50 evolution-data-server processes
running on it, because there had been 50 login/logout cycles. Even if
the same user logs in again, a new evolution-data-server is started, so
if the same user logs in/out 50 times you get 50 evolution-data-server
in the end. It is quite tedious for the sysadmin to have to regularly
kill evolution-data-server as a maintenance task... In fact we don't
even use evolution at all, as we use Thunderbird.

[Bug 350147] Re: b-Tag is ignored

2009-03-28 Thread Philip Muskovac
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is important
for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers. You can learn
more about finding the right package at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . I have classified this bug as a
bug in gnome-control-center.
For future reference you might be interested to know that a lot of applications
have bug reporting functionality built in to them. This can be accessed via the
Report a Problem option in the Help menu for the application with which you are
having an issue. You can learn more about this feature at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

Maybe somebody could check if this is a translation bug or not, since I
have the German locale here as well. But afaik the second tag should be
/b and not b.

[Bug 350151] Re: unicode characters not shown for files in trash

2009-03-28 Thread Victor Osadci
This is on an up-to-date 9.04 with nautilus 2.26.

I delete the file either by drag'n'drop to the trash, the file context
menu, or the delete key - this does not make any difference.

Ubuntu is installed using the Romanian locale - ro_RO.UTF-8.

This bug is also reproducible with a clean user profile.

Some characters that cause problems - ăâșțî£
And some that work - !...@#$

[Bug 232340] Re: CaCert Certificates not installed

2009-03-28 Thread mnemoc
Mozilla requirements are thought for companies. CAcert.org clearly
doesn't have the money or the human resources (they are all volunteers!)
to write the policies (legal texts), perform a deep audit, reimplement
it's software to follow all those new policies, and do the procedures
related to the DPA in matter of months as companies with a much lower
security level but with dedicated HR and large budget can.

[Bug 350236] Re: evolution crash (Jaunty beta)

2009-03-28 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal
with as a '.crash' file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report
a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport
in /etc/default/apport and restart.

If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus
and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report
you wish to submit.

If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using
/usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a
terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report.
I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently.
Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

[Bug 330383] Re: MTP is preferred over UMS/MSC

2009-03-28 Thread Nicholas A. Schembri State College PA USA
This is just a work around. I changed /usr/share/gvfs/remote-volume-
monitors/ gphoto2.monitor to allow the device to be mounted.

[RemoteVolumeMonitor]
Name=GProxyVolumeMonitorGPhoto2
DBusName=org.gtk.Private.GPhoto2VolumeMonitor
#IsNative=false

Re: [Bug 285682] Re: Ubuntu 8.10 can't mount digital camera showing a window popup message: -60 could not lock the device message

2009-03-28 Thread steve.horlsey
It's a bug to my mind. It prevents me from browsing to the camera. Something
I have done regularly for years. Fortunately, it's easily fixed like this:
*sudo killall gvfs-gphoto2-volume-monitor
sudo chmod -x /usr/lib/gvfs/gvfs-gphoto2-volume-monitor*

2009/3/28 David Tombs cyan.s...@gmail.com

This is a bug. The problem is that whatever app has it locked is not
 letting go.

If I plug in my camera, I cannot access it in any application. I do not
get the normal You have just inserted... prompt, and I cannot mount it
manually. This is not expected behavior.
