[Bug 376694] [NEW] Problem logging in to Gnome
You have been subscribed to a public bug: This problem started last Friday when I got home from work. I tried to log into Gnome as usual but it logged straight out, I tried again and got the following error message: Your session only lasted less than 10 seconds. If you have not logged out yourself, this could mean that there is some installation problem or that you may be out of disk space. Try logging in with one of the failsafe sessions to see if you can fix this problem. I have tried: *KDE - seems to work fine *Failsafe Gnome session - same problems as above *Recovery mode selected from GRUB loader -Ran dpkg -Ran fsck - no errors Problem remains *ran apt-get update *ran Memtest86 from GRUB loader - no errors If I don't click on the OK on this message I can pretty much use Gnome (although some things won't work, like terminal and nautilus for example, but kde versions such as konsole and dolphin will work), but I don't think this is a long term solution for me. Hi! I have the same problem as the bug reporter. I upgraded from intrepid to jaunty. Now Rhythmbox shows the Lyrics I had already downloaded in intrepid. [Bug 379989] [NEW] Terminal whites out after NVIDIA X Server Settings saved to xorg.conf using sudo and reboot
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-terminal GNOME Terminal 2.26.0 is the version. I don't understand the stuff about finding the right package, sorry. The situation is that I have purchased an Nvidia card: e-GeForce FX 5200 from eVga. I installed this, then installed Ubuntu, wiping out all previous partitions (only one hard drive). It had me download updates from Ubuntu, then drivers from Nvidia. The download for each driver (173 and 96) hanged, but System-Administration-Hardware Drivers allowed me to activate them individually. I tried the 173 driver, but in NVIDIA X Server Settings its resolution was minimal (640 X 480), so I tried the 96 driver, which gave me 1024 X 768. The gnome terminal white out happens both with 85 Hz or on Auto. It only whites out AFTER reboot. I can left click at the top of the terminal white space and get menus. I can right click on it and also get a menu. And I can close it from the task bar. I can even type exit and it closes. So it's simply not displaying the terminal, even though it functions. I intend to keep trying lower resolutions, but actually, I can only save the NVIDIA X Server Settings Configuration by bringing it up via sudo at the command prompt. It doesn't ask me for my password before entering NVIDIA X Server Settings from the menu (System-Administration). Hope all this helps! [Bug 44058] Re: suspend when closing laptop lid doesn't work
Oke, I might have a hint for this. Manual suspend works for me and suspend by closing the lid sometimes... The state as reported through darylb's procedure, stays Open, even if the lid is closed. [Bug 228876] Re: Seahorse crashes when revoking a subkey
Attached is the full backtrace. To trigger the crash, I started seahorse, selected my key, clicked properties, clicked details, selected my DSA primary key, and clicked Revoke. I selected Superseded from the drop-down menu and put Key superseded by RSA/RSA key 40E0D7C2 generated May 24th, 2009 into the Description field, then clicked Revoke. [Bug 377467] Re: gnome keyring no longer acts as ssh agent on login
This is broken even worse in XFCE. GNOME Keyring is obviously being started via GDM in --login mode, but then the --start part is not being done by default due to /etc/xdg/autostart/gnome-keyring-daemon.desktop having OnlyShowIn=GNOME. After I remove that line, I can see it's printing GNOME_KEYRING_SOCKET=/tmp/keyring-7zOY9J/socket SSH_AUTH_SOCK=/tmp/keyring-7zOY9J/socket.ssh in my ~/.xsession-errors, but $SSH_AUTH_SOCK is set to something like /tmp/ssh-qHvvfg4613/agent.4613, I think due to /etc/xdg/xfce4/xinitrc:115 if test -z $SSH_AGENT_PID -a $sshagent -a x$sshagent != xno; then which should be testing SSH_AUTH_SOCK, not SSH_AGENT_PID, and perhaps because GNOME Keyring Agent can't modify XFCE's environment in the way it can modify GNOME environment? The workaround I've found for that is to put: eval $(gnome-keyring-daemon --start) export SSH_AUTH_SOCK in my ~/.profile inside if test -n $GNOME_KEYRING_PID This is truely nasty stuff. -- gnome keyring no longer acts as ssh agent on login https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/377467 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
