[Bug 376694] [NEW] Problem logging in to Gnome

2009-05-24 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

This problem started last Friday when I got home from work.
I tried to log into Gnome as usual but it logged straight out, I tried again
and got the following error message:

Your session only lasted less than 10 seconds. If you have not logged out
yourself, this could mean that there is some installation problem or that you
may be out of disk space. Try logging in with one of the failsafe sessions to
see if you can fix this problem.
View details (~/.xsession-errors file)

I cannot remember doing anything out of the ordinary or installing
anything during my previous sessions that day.

I have tried:

*KDE - seems to work fine

*Failsafe Gnome session - same problems as above

*Recovery mode selected from GRUB loader
-Ran dpkg
-Ran fsck - no errors
Problem remains

*ran apt-get update

*ran Memtest86 from GRUB loader - no errors

If I don't click on the OK on this message I can pretty much use Gnome
(although some things won't work, like terminal and nautilus for
example, but kde versions such as konsole and dolphin will work), but I
don't think this is a long term solution for me.

Will attach .xsession-errors file

[Bug 379944] [NEW] User administration, groups are not sortable; users-admin

2009-05-24 Thread psl
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-system-tools

Ubuntu 9.04, i686;

1) GNOME tool to administer users in easy way, with GUI. I miss an
option to sort groups in alphanumeric order. Groups are listed based on
ID that it is not visible in the list. I would like to have an option to
sort available groups based on ID or NAME. I talk about Manage GROUP
Window

2) Until I don't unlock User management, I cannot see group details, all
group names are printed in gray and I cannot open properties. As I can
open file /etc/groups, I don't see any reason why to block this feature
in lock mode.

3) I wish have to have an option to see in user detail groups he is
member of. I see some list of predefined groups (User privileges) there
but user can be added to other group in Manage group window and this is
hidden here.

4) When I run the tool from command line, I see some critical error:

rebooted my system since then. I close this bug for now if it comes up
again will try to see how I can reproduce it.

Why shouldn't we?

[Bug 378432] Re: inkscape reports printer not connected but system does

2009-05-24 Thread kadjette
I'm sorry I tried running the apport-collect command but did not set the
permissions appropriately and I am not sure how to fix.

I can print from other programs fine. I can print various other files
from Inkscape without issue. The particular file I am working with
nearly fills the page and may run over the margins, though that can't be
the reason the printer stops. In any event I have attached the cups
error log.

BTW, I changed the printer driver to the HP 5600 - no improvement in the
problem.

The file that causes the printer to stop. I can print some of the
elements of the drawing independently without issue. The large rectangle
surrounding the graphics will not print properly independently. It will
print two horizontal lines and then shoot the paper out. All together
the drawing causes the printer stop and say it is not connected.

[Bug 379973] [NEW] adding recurrance causes segfault

2009-05-24 Thread Justin Dugger
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Using jaunty-proposed, I encounter a segfault when adding a recurrence
to an existing appointment:

0xb5c84506 in comp_util_sanitize_recurrence_master (comp=0x97e1660,
client=0x9311b40) at comp-util.c:823
823 comp-util.c: No such file or directory.

From the backtrace (provided as a comment attachment), it looks as
though the recent patch addressing recurrance is to blame.

[Bug 374778] Re: Lyrics plugin not showing anything

2009-05-24 Thread zasq
Hi! I have the same problem as the bug reporter. I upgraded from intrepid to
jaunty. Now Rhythmbox shows the Lyrics I had already downloaded in intrepid.
But if I want to download the lyrics of a new song, it kind of freezes with the
line Nach Liedtexten suchen... (that is searching for lyrics). Nothing else
happens.
I have the plugin enabled and configured.
Any more ideas?
Any more information I can provide?
Thanks!

[Bug 379989] [NEW] Terminal whites out after NVIDIA X Server Settings saved to xorg.conf using sudo and reboot

2009-05-24 Thread ogobeone
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-terminal

GNOME Terminal 2.26.0 is the version. I don't understand the stuff
about finding the right package, sorry. The situation is that I have
purchased an Nvidia card: e-GeForce FX 5200 from eVga. I installed
this, then installed Ubuntu, wiping out all previous partitions (only
one hard drive). It had me download updates from Ubuntu, then drivers
from Nvidia. The download for each driver (173 and 96) hanged, but
System-Administration-Hardware Drivers allowed me to activate them
individually. I tried the 173 driver, but in NVIDIA X Server Settings
its resolution was minimal (640 X 480), so I tried the 96 driver, which
gave me 1024 X 768. The gnome terminal white out happens both with 85
Hz or on Auto. It only whites out AFTER reboot. I can left click at
the top of the terminal white space and get menus. I can right click on
it and also get a menu. And I can close it from the task bar. I can
even type exit and it closes. So it's simply not displaying the
terminal, even though it functions. I intend to keep trying lower
resolutions, but actually, I can only save the NVIDIA X Server Settings
Configuration by bringing it up via sudo at the command prompt. It
doesn't ask me for my password before entering NVIDIA X Server Settings
from the menu (System-Administration).

Hope all this helps!

[Bug 44058] Re: suspend when closing laptop lid doesn't work

2009-05-24 Thread Fred van Zwieten
Oke, I might have a hint for this. Manual suspend works for me and
suspend by closing the lid sometimes... The state as reported through
darylb's procedure, stays Open, even if the lid is closed. Now, if it
doesn't work, I switch to battery power by pulling the plug. Then, lid
close detection works again and so does suspend. To much of my own
surprise it keeps working when I switch to AC power again. The action
for lid close is to suspend when on Battery or AC power.

[Bug 149665] Re: when returning from suspend my laptop tries to hibernate

2009-05-24 Thread ethanay
Unfortunately, I can confirm this bug is *still present* on my Dell XPS
m1330 running Hardy 8.04.2 w/latest

2.6.24-24-generic #1 SMP Wed Apr 15 15:54:25 UTC 2009 i686 GNU/Linux

Last night, I left my computer idle, and it automatically went into
suspend. I left it that way all night and into the next day (over 12
hours) and upon waking the computer, it went immediately into hibernate.

I don't know if my previous test was insufficient or if there was a
regression...

[Bug 187698] Re: Brasero crashes when trying to write a ISO

2009-05-24 Thread J_Wesker
I'm having a similar issue when trying to burn either a CD or a DVD ISO.
Brasero apparently starts ok, but when finishing the burn process, it displays
an internal error. I'm attaching the error log.

Laptop: T-1625
OS: Ubuntu 9.04 - Jaunty Jackalope -32 bits
Brasero: 2.26.1

[Bug 302590] Re: Brasero leave disk open not available

2009-05-24 Thread Alethea Mack
I never encountered this problem before today (admittedly, I'd never
even attempted a multisession burn with Brasero). As of now, however,
it is greyed out when I try to create one.

[Bug 377467] Re: gnome keyring no longer acts as ssh agent on login

2009-05-24 Thread Mikel Ward
This is broken even worse in XFCE.

GNOME Keyring is obviously being started via GDM in --login mode, but
then the --start part is not being done by default due to
/etc/xdg/autostart/gnome-keyring-daemon.desktop having OnlyShowIn=GNOME.

After I remove that line, I can see it's printing
GNOME_KEYRING_SOCKET=/tmp/keyring-7zOY9J/socket
SSH_AUTH_SOCK=/tmp/keyring-7zOY9J/socket.ssh

in my ~/.xsession-errors, but $SSH_AUTH_SOCK is set to something like
/tmp/ssh-qHvvfg4613/agent.4613, I think due to /etc/xdg/xfce4/xinitrc:115
if test -z $SSH_AGENT_PID -a $sshagent -a x$sshagent != xno; then

which should be testing SSH_AUTH_SOCK, not SSH_AGENT_PID, and perhaps
because GNOME Keyring Agent can't modify XFCE's environment in the way
it can modify GNOME environment?

The workaround I've found for that is to put:
eval $(gnome-keyring-daemon --start)
export SSH_AUTH_SOCK

in my ~/.profile inside
if test -n $GNOME_KEYRING_PID

This is truely nasty stuff.

[Bug 376793] Re: HP 2140 Lid Close Not Detected

2009-05-24 Thread Toby Corkindale
I tried running the dbus-monitor script, and lshal, under kernel
2.6.30-rc6 too.. Same result, ie. identical to Jeremy's post above.

I did this while on battery power, as I think someone else mentioned
maybe that would make a difference.. but it didn't.

[Bug 354995] Re: Brasero Checksum Error

2009-05-24 Thread emarkay
Hello mrwizer, it seems that you're using wodim, could you please try
to burn with growisofs (remove wodim) and test again? that could be the
cause of the problem, thanks!.

I am getting this error also - how do I do the above?
I confirmed that there are no MD5 entries in Gconf-Editor Apps Brasero
