[Bug 255316] Re: Disable square brackets in minimized window titles

2009-06-16 Thread Travis Watkins
This does not qualify as a paper cut bug because the suggested solution
(remove the brackets) has been rejected unless something better replaces
them. Creating that replacement is going to be quite a bit of work due
to the usability issues.

[Bug 346846] [NEW] No password prompt for encrypted eSATA disk

2009-06-16 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Binary package hint: gnome-mount

I am using an up to date Jaunty Alpha (amd64 platform).

When plugging in a LUKS encrypted eSATA disk, no password prompt
appears. According to /var/log/messages the disk is detected by the
kernel but no encrypted device appears in Nautilus.

Mounting with pmount works fine.

It worked correctly in earlier Alpha versions of Jaunty.

Plugging in and mounting a non encrypted eSATA disk works.

Maybe some HAL events are missing that normally trigger execution of
gnome-mount?

2009-06-16 Thread Travis Watkins
Just to make it clear (sorry for spamming) the dragging in the workspace
switcher doesn't work when compiz is enabled because the workspace
switcher lacks the code to do it, it has nothing to do with what compiz
does or doesn't support. I submitted a patch upstream some time ago,
it's all on GNOME now.

[Bug 372132] Re: Create Document Templates

2009-06-16 Thread Daeng Bo
Travis, I'm surprised that you marked this bug is marked invalid when
the upstream bug doesn't actually close the issue, just the proposed
solution. In fact, the answer to this problem was proposed in the linked
Ubuntu archives:

It's perfectly supported as designed. Put some template in ~/Templates
and enjoy. If you want to push it to new users, put it in
/etc/skel/Templates and every new user gets them.

Yeah. That's all it will take. Create three or four new, empty files,
and throw them in /etc/skel. No need for a patch like the one in the
Gnome archives. This is an easy fix. It's a bug that bugs new users.
Upstream DOESN'T oppose templates, just not ones that the standard user
can't remove (like in /usr/share/templates), thus spamming his menu.

This is definitely a one-hundred-papercuts bug. Create the files.
Otherwise, the Create Document menu item should be greyed out when no
templates exist in the Templates directory.

[Bug 57210] Re: search button does not toggle

2009-06-16 Thread Brian Kennedy
I agree that the behavior of the search button is unintuitive. There is
no clear way to return to the state before you clicked the search
button. The search should either open in a new tab by default or the
search button should also remove the search interface and restore you to
the directory you were currently browsing. It isn't logical that the
search should replace the current directory unless it is operating on
the current directory in some way, and in Ubuntu I believe this isn't
the default behavior (ie the search takes place at Home regardless of
the current folder, a behavior I also find confusing).

[Bug 367718] Re: Volume control and sound missing from Totem. All other video/music players work fine.

2009-06-16 Thread Allan Bogh
A little bit more information for you... I can play sound from Totem if
I use sudo totem /file/location from the terminal. This tells me that
it's definitely a user permission issue with my account. I checked which
groups I'm a member of and here's the list:

adm dialout cdrom audio video plugdev lpadmin netdev admin sambashare
mythtv vboxusers

I have a test account with this list:

test adm dialout fax cdrom floppy tape audio dip video plugdev scanner
fuse

I made sure to check the little audio checkbox in the user properties
window for my user account. I also logged out and back in once I did so.
I know it's going to be something ridiculously simple now that I've
narrowed down the search, but I'm still at a loss. Any help would be
appreciated.

[Bug 68213] Re: Column customizations not remembered

This is a usability issue but I'm not sure if this is a paper cut, as I

upstream bug has seen no response in years. If anyone knows the issue
let us know but otherwise I think this is not a paper cut, though of
course the bug is still valid in Ubuntu.

[Bug 387573] Re: Drop-down calendar does not close unless you click on it

2009-06-16 Thread Michael Rooney
I surprisingly couldn't find a duplicate so I've opened a task for
gnome-panel.

** Description changed:

The drop down calendar in the panel that opens when you click on the
date and time will only close if you click again on the date and time.
It would be much nicer if the calendar would close with any click
outside the calendar. For example: When I'm using the calendar, I tend
to click it open, glance at it, and return very quickly to what I was
working on. The intuitive thing would be for the calendar to simply
close when I click back on the application I was working on, in order to
keep work flow interruption to a minimum. But an extra click is required
on the date and time bar itself to close the calendar.

The icon in the mines game from the gnome-games package seems a bit

[Bug 185391] Re: Evo sigs show HTML formatting code in new messages

2009-06-16 Thread Per Lejontand
This is still present in Jaunty.

I can get an HTML sig in by creating a script that will spit out exactly
the same HTML as I had in my signature file. Then it works fine in both
plain text and HTML emails. Reading data from a file however still
always shows me HTML source code as signature.

This is regardless of email HTML settings.

[Bug 387723] [NEW] nautilus-home.desktop silently fails to open home directory when is called by process started early at session startup

2009-06-16 Thread Jan Nekvasil
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

Nautilus 1:2.26.2-0ubuntu2 silently fails to open user's home directory when is
called trough
/usr/share/applications/nautilus-home.desktop by a process started early at the
GNOME session startup.

This is bug heavily affects the GNOME Do's Files and Folders plugin -
when GNOME Do is set to start with the session, opening home dir by it
latter fails, showing only Starting Home Folder on taskbar for a few
seconds, no further erros emmited. See bug 290136.

This can be easily solved by changing line 6 in /usr/share/applications
/nautilus-home.desktop from Exec=nautilus --no-desktop to
Exec=nautilus --no-desktop .. Notice the whitespace and the dot at the
end, pointing to the current directory, which is in this case user's
home.

 The best is Home Folder.

I agree that Home in English sounds better than Home Folder. This
will not be the case in other languages, not only Spanish - we could
again run into danger of inconsistent translations...

Any other suggestions?
