[Bug 395313] Re: gdm 2.26 kills or switches away from active X sessions on upgrading
My 2 cents: The first upgrade gave me a new login screen and I stayed logged in like everybody else. Now for the second one... I don't think It killed the session but simply logged out. At least aptitude that was running in yakuake didn't get killed until all updates were processed and firefox had time to close itself (Didn't tell me it had crashed). [Bug 270238] Re: F-spot should remember if I want to copy photos to the Photos folder when importing
The duplicate bug was declined for One Hundred Paper Cuts without precise explanation. I think that's wrong: this bug will hit any new user, it can be a real annoyance if the default is not what you want, and is easy to fix. It's just a matter of adding a GConf key and link it to the state of the checkbox, not really a pain to do in an already working Mono project. ** Also affects: hundredpapercuts Importance: Undecided Status: New -- F-spot should remember if I want to copy photos to the Photos folder when importing https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/270238 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 270238] Re: F-spot should remember if I want to copy photos to the Photos folder when importing
Thank you for bringing this bug to our attention. Unfortunately a paper cut should be a small usability issue that affects many people and is quick and easy to fix. I'm afraid this bug can't be addressed as part of this project. A bug in the program is Not a papercut. Especially there seems to be no easy fix. A paper cut is a minor usability annoyance that an average user would encounter on his/her first day of using a new installation of Ubuntu 9.10. Don't worry though, This bug has been marked as invalid ONLY in the papercuts project. @Milan Bouchet-Valat: For further info about papercuts criteria , pls read https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PaperCut Pls read the wiki , and also the *notes* at the bottom. If you follow the upstream report in gnome-bugs , you can see that this problem existed since 2006! there is a patch since 2007 , but that patch causes F-spot crash! So there seems to be no easy fix for this. Hence not a papercut. Hope it is clearer.:) ** Changed in: hundredpapercuts Status: New = Invalid -- F-spot should remember if I want to copy photos to the Photos folder when importing https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/270238 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 395103] Re: Gnome doesn't have my configured keyboard layout after login anymore
This patch causes gdm to crash when I select my default user. After selecting the user, the window resizes, the user-list resizes, the language selector in the bottom panel gets shown, the window has no password-entry or ok button though - then the screen goes black and gdm restarts. (Thats all barely visible, since it happens very fast) I then created a new user who can login without these problems. If there is a good way to get a backtrace of this, please let me know, so I can provide one. [Bug 395313] Re: gdm 2.26 kills or switches away from active X sessions on upgrading
OK, I just upgraded another machine from gdm 2.20 to 2.26, and can confirm that for that upgrade, the new gdm is erroneously started on vt8 / X screen :1 whilst the previous session remains happily alive on vt7 / :0. I am attaching apt-term.log from that upgrade - in particular I find it suspicious that there is first an attempt to reload gdm, which fails, followed by an attempt to start gdm afresh, with is presumably responsible for the extra spurious gdm. ** Attachment added: apt-term.log http://launchpadlibrarian.net/28685927/apt-term.log -- gdm 2.26 kills or switches away from active X sessions on upgrading https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/395313 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

I'm still seeing this on a laptop running Jaunty. I have for a long time observed that my time zone gets reset to Europe/Mariehamn. This is a design decision Not a papercut. A paper cut is a minor usability annoyance that an average user would encounter on his/her first day of using a new installation of Ubuntu 9.10. Thank you for bringing this bug to our attention. Unfortunately a paper cut should be a small usability issue that affects many people and is quick and easy to fix.
