[Bug 380091] Re: Ubuntu 9.04 Ekiga 3.2.0 Does not work behind double-NAT

2009-07-06 Thread Yannick Defais
Alvin,

AFAIK, Ubuntu ships only the free codecs and if you select them all it
fits in UDP, the issue occurs when you add the non-free codecs.

Do you use the package from Ubuntu? If so, does the PDU exceed 1500?

Best regards,
Yannick

[Bug 396006] [NEW] There are no important hard drive (block device) meters

2009-07-06 Thread mmarkk
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-system-monitor

1. Drive speeds (Block device read and writes in MB/s).
2. Drive load average - so user can see how his drive is loaded -- how many
processes need IO operations on drive. Average for 1 minute, 5 and 15 - as for
processor.

point 1 and 2: I think every real drive should be shown, not partitions.
But somebody wants partitions shown, so option should be. I think for
every meter, three sub-meters should be - reading, writing, reading+
writing.

3. swap activity - summary for all swaps.

ProblemType: Bug
Architecture: i386
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.04

[Bug 396010] [NEW] Different units/percentage in hints of the meters

2009-07-06 Thread mmarkk
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-system-monitor

Now, information from hints of the meters in applet:

1. CPU load - percentage
2. Memory - percentage
3. Network load - MB/S
4. Swap - percentage
5. load average - by value
6. Hard drive - percentage.

I think, every hint should contain percentage and raw value for every
meter.

[Bug 396015] [NEW] Invalid maximal range fro meters

2009-07-06 Thread mmarkk
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-system-monitor

For example, for my Gigabit net, maximal range for network throughput
should be always 1 Gigabit, if low-level link established as 1 Gbit, and
100 Mbit if link established as 100 mbit.

The same triaged for hard drive. My hard drive can read/write at speed
about 70 MB/s. So graph should use this speed as maximal. If speed can't
be discovered, there is two method - 1. user should specify maximal
speed by hand, 2. maximal value during all history should be computed,
saved and used.

[Bug 396014] [NEW] Allocates GB's of memory on double click

2009-07-06 Thread marty123
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evince

Open a pdf where the text is images, not text, and if the segmenting is just
right, if you make the horrible mistake of double clicking the page, evince
allocates tens of gigs of memory to try and open it up in a new window for some
reason.
I don't believe this is a bug, but rather, a completely unreasonable 'feature',
surely it should check to see how much memory i have before allocating tens of
gigs of the stuff.
Solution:
Please provide a preferences page where I can turn this sort of thing off. I
can't believe evince has no preferences? I want purple fairies to appear when I
double click, not the paging apocalypse :)

Cheers,
Marty

I see this fairly often (I guess once per session) when running selftest

[Bug 396039] [NEW] evince hang when opening a large (by dimensions) file

2009-07-06 Thread Ravn
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evince

When I open a large file (large by dimensions, not by size) evince
consumes a huge amount of RAM and slows the computer down until there is
nothing to do but a hard reset. This happens with (at least) pdf and
svg-files.

The files I consider are not large by size, but by dimensions. See e.g.
the attachment.

ProblemType: Bug
Architecture: i386
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.04
ExecutablePath: /usr/bin/evince
Package: evince 2.26.1-0ubuntu1
ProcEnviron:
 PATH=(custom, user)
 LANG=en_US.UTF-8
 SHELL=/bin/bash
SourcePackage: evince
Uname: Linux 2.6.28-11-generic i686

[Bug 396040] [NEW] ui does not show after start up

2009-07-06 Thread Dick Greeven
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: yelp

Installed easy peasy 1.1 yesterday. Decided to switch to the alternative

[Bug 276369] Re: Cannot print in landscape orientation

2009-07-06 Thread Dimitrios Symeonidis
I am confused. You do know that, if the page is in landscape, you don't
need to change anything in the print setup settings, just print as
usual, and it should print in landscape mode, yes? I have actually
confirmed this with the attached pdf on Jaunty.

[Bug 395524] [NEW] ssh host key mismatch results in generic error message

2009-07-06 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Note that this is subtle annoyance.

If you use the Places Bookmarks feature in Gnome, sometimes you get
very mysterious failures to connect. The error message will be Service
Unavailable but the fact is that the known_hosts file in the .ssh
directory merely has the wrong key loaded. This creates what appears to
be an intermittent connectivity problem till you inadvertently reset the
key using another service, such as ssh. One possible solution is to
expand the error message to something meaningful.

Ultimately, this could be a lot more useful. How hard could it be to
avoid having to edit the ~/.gtk-bookmarks file to get into this bookmark
area what you want. While I am not opposed to this manual editing
approach, there may be a better way. I am thinking...

Please note that I have not the foggiest idea how to determine what
package this bug is in. I would be attentive to someone who could tell
me. This bug is current in Jaunty 9.04

Regards,

Flint

[Bug 395716] Re: unable to move window when title bar is under gnome panel

2009-07-06 Thread jdetras
Yes it is a duplicate. It is a problem when wobbly windows is enabled.
However, I see that the progress with this bug is slow. maybe the
papercuts can handle this.

workaround: on the window list, right-click on the application and
select move, then you can move the window away from beneath the gnome-
panel.

[Bug 380091] Re: Ubuntu 9.04 Ekiga 3.2.0 Does not work behind double-NAT

2009-07-06 Thread Alvin
Yannick,

No I hadn't installed any non-free codecs (not knowingly anyway).

I wanted to confirm this so I booted from clean live USB memory stick image
(Jaunty).
Selected ekiga for installation.
Synaptic informs that the following are required: libgsm1, libopal3.6.1,
libpt2.6.1, libpt2.6.1-plugins-alsa, libpt2.6.1-plugins-v4l2. (All of these
come from the Main repository).

Once above are installed: Ekiga has the same problem as described above
(PDU exceed 1500) and same solution as you describe above also works.

Out-of-the-box Audio codecs: G722, Speex(16kHz), PCMA, PCMU, G726-16,
G726-24, G726-32, G726-40, gsm, ms-gsm, Speex(8kHz).

Out-of-the-box Video codecs: h261, theora.

So, in answer to your question, only using default packages from Ubuntu
is sufficient for PDU to exceed 1500.

Status in “gnome-power-manager” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete

 Bug description:
 Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

I've been experiencing repeatedly a temporary hang on gpm. It caracterizes
 by:
  - info pop up not showing up when hovering over the icon
  - icon not updated when going to or from battery to plugged
  - icon not responsive when clicking on it to access the menu (left or
 right click)
  - close lid or Fn2 does not kick laptop into sleep
  - closing the session informs that gpm won't quit and offers to force quit
 it
I do not know how to reproduce it appart from using the laptop normally.
It will occur at least every other time I need to use gpm.

While this is happening, stracing gpm show the following continuously:

[Bug 395490] Re: Merge Screensaver into Appearance (Make it a tab)

2009-07-06 Thread Lightbreeze
Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

A 'paper cut' is a minor usability annoyance that an average user would
encounter on his/her first day of using a new installation of Ubuntu
9.10. This is not a 'paper cut', which is a small usability issue that
affects many people and is quick and easy to fix, but rather a feature-
request. I'm afraid this bug can't be addressed as part of this project.

For further info about papercuts criteria , pls read
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PaperCut

Don't worry though, This bug has been marked as invalid ONLY in the
papercuts project.

[Bug 395861] Re: gdm 2.26 custom configuration file: wrong filename

2009-07-06 Thread Hernando Torque
Issue #1: Upgrading from 2.20 to 2.26 leaves you with two configuration
files. Pretty confusing I'd say - especially because you have to
manually configure GDM since there is no graphical tool (yet?) to do it.

Issue #2: Fresh installations just install 'custom.conf', which isn't
used (yet?) by GDM. Again, if you want to configure GDM you'd probably
put the information into that file rather than creating a new file
called 'gdm.conf-custom' (which IS used by GDM).

[Bug 396087] [NEW] Sound events: A 60 second long wav file for incoming calls causes much grief

2009-07-06 Thread Will
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ekiga

WHAT HAPPENED
---
I created a wav file that was about 60 seconds long in duration and I assigned
this as my incoming call sound event.
This was a bad idea.
What happens now is this: If someone calls me, Ekiga plays the whole 60
seconds of the wav file, even if the caller hung up after only 5 seconds of
ringing.

But worse still, if I answer/accept the incoming call, the wav file
keeps on playing! And although it seems like we are connected (I think
we are in fact) we cannot hear one another! :((I think also that if
you persevere and wait for the wav file to finish playing, it starts
playing it from the start again, but perhaps the caller had called just
called me again???)

WHAT I EXPECTED TO HAPPEN
--
What I expect to happen is that same thing that happens on my mobile cell
phone, that as soon as the call is answered (or as soon as the caller stops
ringing me) Ekiga stops playing the wav file and does what it is supposed to
do, let me talk to the caller.

SOFTWARE VERSIONS
---
This is on Ekiga 2.01.12 on Ubuntu Hardy, but I reckon the same probably
happens on v3.0, but I've not tested that.

Description:Ubuntu 8.04.3 LTS
Release:8.04

ekiga:
  Installed: 2.0.12-0ubuntu2
  Candidate: 2.0.12-0ubuntu2
  Version table:
 *** 2.0.12-0ubuntu2 0
500 http://moya hardy/main Packages

Thanks in advance!

[Bug 119861] Re: error on playing swf

2009-07-06 Thread Charlie
I have Linux Mint 7 (essentially Ubuntu 9.04) and also have problems
with .swf files. I get the error message 'GStreamer encountered a
general supporting library error.' as well, but I'm not entirely sure
its the same problem: I get the following output from terminal when I
attempt to play the file:

--

totem ~/Downloads/rta1.swf
/var/lib/python-support/python2.6/gdata/tlslite/utils/cryptomath.py:9:
DeprecationWarning: the sha module is deprecated; use the hashlib module instead
  import sha
** Message: Error: GStreamer encountered a general supporting library error.
gstffmpegdemux.c(1215): gst_ffmpegdemux_open ():
/GstPlayBin:play/GstDecodeBin:decodebin0/ffdemux_swf:ffdemux_swf0:
Unhandled error code received

--

The file I have tried to play can be found at
http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/licensing/tests/driverqualificationtest/hazardperceptionpart2/buildyourhazardperceptionskills.html
and clicking on any of the options in the main frame results in the problem
occuring.
