[Bug 437590] Re: Nothing happens when I select Fil es Folders » Volumes » xx GB Filesystem

2009-09-29 Thread neu
Thanks, Sebastian! You made me realize that this bug report was quite
invalid. The 49GB partition was indeed a different, unused partition.
I guess netbook-launcher should ask for a password just like nautilus
does, but that's not a big deal. Adding devkit-disks --dump for
completeness.

[Bug 204105] Re: Duplicated dictionary source name in preference.

2009-09-29 Thread mono1984
Well it still happends, opened gnome-dictionary as a normal user then go
to edit menu and preferences, on the source tab double clic a source
(for me was Diccionario de español) and then close the source
properties window without changing anything. The named source will
appear twice on the sources list, both selected and it won't let me
erase one of them (nor one or the other). Also if gnome-dictionary is
launched as root, wich i thought would give me the power to delete one
source, the double source won't appear.

If you have any special need of extra info feel free to contact me, i
would provide what i can. Just at this moment can't figure out what else
could be of use.

Thanks for the time.

[Bug 40652] Re: Dictionary applet no longer makes suggestions for misspelt words

2009-09-29 Thread John Baptist
If this was fixed, it was also un-fixed. As of today, an up-to-date
Jaunty does not contain a dictionary that makes suggestions. Entering a
mis-spelled word results in an error, but no suggestion, while entering
a correctly-spelling word results in redundant suggestions varying only
in case. I've enclosed some screenshots showing the situation.

So what happened? Did they really fix this and then un-fix it? Or am I
doing something horribly wrong?

[Bug 437580] Re: videos embedded pictures are no longer used as thumbnails

2009-09-29 Thread anselm.reisner
The matroska specification allows one to attach an image file to your video
(actually you can store whatever you want in it). In jaunty
totem-video-thumbnailer used these in the video embedded images to generate a
thumbnail for this movie and only generated a thumbnail from a video frame if
there was no image file embedded.
In the attached example matroska file (example.mkv) I added the Ubuntu Logo and
therefore it is used as a thumbnail in Jaunty in karmic the image is ignored.
The nice thing is that you can store the film poster or the cover of the DVD in
the movie and it is used as the thumbnail this makes the movies far more easy
to recognise than an arbitrary frame of the movie. Another advantage is that
thumbnail generation is much faster.
Only few programs and devices support this behaviour therefore I found it
really nice that the totem-video-thumbnailer supported it and converted my
whole collection of movies into the matroska format and added the covers of the
DVDs.

You can check whether a matroska file has an image embedded by issuing
the following command mkvmerge -i movie.mkv

I hope I could explain what I would expect.

2009-09-29 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thanks, it makes better sense now I didn't know about that feature and
that it worked in jaunty, it should be sent to the software writters on
bugzilla.gnome.org to be investigated that's a corner case and the
ubuntu team will probably not work on that but the upstream hackers
might know what is wrong there

[Bug 411533] Re: users and groups prog does not work on first launch

2009-09-29 Thread Martin Pitt
Indeed, Chris Coulson also found out that d-bus activated services don't
play well with forking. And they don't really have to, either. So we
will just pass --no-daemon.

** Summary changed:

- users and groups prog blocked on first launch
+ users and groups prog does not work on first launch

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: gnome-system-tools

- Upon launching the users and group dialogue You get at You don't have
- privileges notification and no dialogue.
+ Upon launching the users and group dialogue you get at An unknown error
+ occurred notification and no dialogue.

Launch users and groups a second time and everything is fine.
-
- Though the `Unlock' button seems to have become a `_Unlock' button
-
-
- xprop WM_CLASS give users-admin as the name but this isn't a package.
gnome-system-tools seems likley
-
-
- Karmic Alpha 3

[Bug 92248] Re: evolution is really annoying when GPG data has a picture in it

2009-09-29 Thread David D Short
I don't believe that this is an Evolution issue. I have been having the
same problem with Thunderbird (with the Enigmail add-on).

If you have specified in your ~/.gnupg/gpg.conf file that you want to
see ID photos, then such photos will pop up in the default image viewer
(xloadimage, eog, or display) every time something is decrypted or
verified. This is independent of the frontend you are using.

I think the solution is to disable this feature in ~/.gnupg/gpg.conf (it
is disabled by default), and implement the displaying of photos
separately in each app that requires it (Evolution, Thunderbird, etc).
That way, they can be displayed in an attractive and user-friendly way
(in the top-right corner of the e-mail, for example) instead of
annoyingly popping up.

[Bug 438616] [NEW] Drag and drop a .svg from archive manager crashes nautlius

2009-09-29 Thread Scott Ritchie
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

On karmic: open an archive with a .svg file in it, and drag the file
into an open nautilus window. Nautilus will crash before you can let go
of the mouse (and thus the copy never attempts). A workaround is to
first extract the file to the desktop and then drag it onto the nautilus
window.

[Bug 438618] [NEW] gnome-settings-daemon crashed

2009-09-29 Thread Ian Corne
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-settings-daemon

The daemon crashed when I opened a link to a HQ youtube movie.

.xsession-errors:

** (gnome-settings-daemon:17848): WARNING **: Failed to acquire
org.gnome.SettingsDaemon

** (gnome-settings-daemon:17848): WARNING **: Could not acquire name
The program 'gnome-settings-daemon' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadDrawable (invalid Pixmap or Window parameter)'.
  (Details: serial 17004 error_code 9 request_code 14 minor_code 0)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

If more logs are needed, i'll add them.
