[Bug 500717] [NEW] inconsistent free space left

2009-12-27 Thread James Dupin
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: brasero

Description:Ubuntu 9.10
Release:9.10
brasero:
  Installed: 2.28.2-0ubuntu1

the free space left is not consistent with the project size. see picture
attached.

At the beginning, it is alright meaning 8 GiB free space corresponds to
0 GiB for the project but then it goes wrong.

As a result in the example attached, out of a 8.5GB DL, I end up with
4.9 GiB space left while the project already takes 7.9 GiB.

My system is 9.04, evolution 2.26.1-0ubuntu2 by the way.
Now, the original post came from a de_DE.UTF-8 system, mine is too. Joachim's
name does have a german sound, too - of course, there is a big ubuntu community
in germany, but, as there only seem to be german (or german spoken?) posters on
this bug, could this be related to a german system?

[Bug 61786] Re: 'Create folder in here' context menu option for nautilus

2009-12-27 Thread kimberlite
Thanks to Tamlin for useful script. It is annoying that Nautilus lacks
this basic feature. Unfortunately, editing nautilus-navigation-window-
ui.xml did not solve the issue as pikilion has suggested. The new icon
on the toolbar is not context-sensitive, ie. will not create folder
here, to the current folder, but to the parent.

[Bug 500749] [NEW] Gdm login goes black(for 1-2seconds) after authentication failure

2009-12-27 Thread Jamie Nadeau
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gdm

I only have 1 user on my computer.
Steps I fallow to reproduce the bug once the login screen pops up:

1.Hit enter(to get password prompt for my username)
2.Enter wrong password
3.When it says authentication failure I press enter(I don't think this matters)
4.It's almost like gdm restarts(there is a black screen when it switches
between authentication failure and shows the username list so you can enter
your password again)

[Bug 35112] Re: MP3 track times are incorrect

2009-12-27 Thread Jérémy Subtil
I can confirm that the following command line outputs right bitrate and
right track time in Totem on the Arch Linux distribution:

audio/x-raw-int,rate=44100,channels=2 ! lame name=enc mode=0
preset=standard ! xingmux ! id3v2mux

It should be alright as well in both Ubuntu Karmic and Lucid, I suppose.

[Bug 500747] Re: gdmsetup errors : key not found

2009-12-27 Thread dino99
my system was a clean install of Karmic A2, then daily updated.

Looking at upto date config, i've read a curious comment in custom.conf
which now replace gdm.conf:

Older versions of GDM used the gdm.conf file for configuration. If your
# system has an old gdm.conf file on the system, it will be used instead of
# this file - so changes made to this file will not take effect. Consider
# migrating your configuration to this file and removing the gdm.conf file.

Really amazing !!! If i'm reading this silly design, it's coz i'm
fighting against others bugs and googling to find workarounds.

[Bug 500762] [NEW] Nautilus tree view should show Safely Remove Drive in context menu

2009-12-27 Thread Michael Doube
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

When I insert a USB device, I get an icon on the desktop and an icon in
Nautilus' tree view. The right-click context menu from the tree view's
USB drive icon lets me Unmount or Eject but not Safely Remove Drive.
All the other context menus for the same drive's icons (Desktop, Places,
Computer...) have a Safely Remove Drive option, so it seems to be an
inconsistency of tree view that Safely Remove Drive is missing.

[Bug 500747] Re: gdmsetup errors : key not found

2009-12-27 Thread willdeans
I am also getting key not found errors. I did a fresh install of 9.10
i386 a few hours ago. Although I do not know for certain the problems
are related must inform you that I removed many packages which I
believed were not needed as soon as the Ubuntu installer completed. I
then ssh -Xed in and then ran DISPLAY=:0.0 gdmsetup to turn on
autologin but found I could not. Perhaps I somehow removed some needed
package for gdmsetup but if so gdmsetup should have had a dependency
of the package to alert me! gdmsetup also should have had a
dependency on the needed package(s) so that I could simply reinstall
gdmsetup and the needed packages would come along with it. I will be
happy to provide all the logs/etc that you request. Below is the

[Bug 500780] [NEW] Super (Windows Key) alone in keyboard shortcuts now broken.

2009-12-27 Thread willdeans
Public bug reported:

I am unable to assign the Windows-Key (Super L) alone to an action in the
Keyboard Shortcuts Application (gnome-keybinding-properties) as previously
possible. I am only able to assign MOD4+? (windows key + another key). I
understand there was previously a bug #12153 where people were rightly upset
they couldn't assign the windows key in conjunction with another key to a
shortcut. Fixing this bug appears to have created another bug whereby now it
is impossible to assign the windows key alone using the gnome control panel.
There is no good reason why we should lose the ability to assign an action to
the windows key alone (Super L) if the user does not require any windows key
combination (MOD4+?) keyboard shortcuts. Of course I am very happy using the
Windows key as a modifier is fixed (thank you) but this is not an either-or
situation and the old functionality is clearly broken. If you don't want to
think of it as Super_L is broken then please consider this bug as MOD4+NOTHING
is broken. In fact, if you think of this as MOD4+NOTHING is broken then you
can have both MOD4+? keyboard shortcuts and a MOD4+NOTHING shortcut as
MOD4+NOTHING is detected on key_up unlike Super_L which is detected on
key_down.

[Bug 500788] [NEW] Bigger size animated gif produce huge memory leak in Nautilus

2009-12-27 Thread SkullBurner
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

I used byzanz gnome applet to record small screencast. It produced an
2.5MB big animated gif file. If I select this file in Nautilus it uses
up whole memory in short time and starts swapping which makes whole
desktop unresponsive. I must kill nautilus process to stop the memory
leak.

I am using Ubuntu 9.10, Nautilus Version is 1:2.28.1-0ubuntu3

Also, can someone change the status of my bug?

[Bug 484317] Re: GDM allows root logins

2009-12-27 Thread Iain Bucław
@Kees, I agree.

This patch attached should do just that.

It's a slight modification of another part of the gdm code that
disallows the showing of system users in the selection screen. Copied it
into the do_accredit stage of the user authorisation, tested and it
works as expected.

Just putting it in the debian/patches folder will apply it to the build.

Regards
Iain

[Bug 500195] Re: 9.10 Nautilus - Cannot access FreeNAS CIFS/SMB folder containing more than 627 files

2009-12-27 Thread John
Some additional information regarding the issue reported:

1. Refer to the test case listed above. Attempting to access the folders from
command line using gvfs-ls results in file contents listed for temp627, but
invalid parameter reported for temp628 as depicted below:

$ gvfs-ls smb://freenas.local/sharetemp/Number of Files Test/temp628
Error opening: Invalid parameters

... perhaps the issue is not with Nautilus ...

2. Same behavior observed with test case using a second Ubuntu PC
(i.e., different hardware).

3. Both Ubuntu PCs were originally configured with Ubuntu 9.04 and
subsequently upgraded to Ubuntu 9.10.

I am experiencing this bug as well in both gdmsetup, and users-admin

If I run gksu users-admin it works fine...

[Bug 500863] [NEW] Problem when copying folders with Nautilus using WebDAV

2009-12-27 Thread Martin Wendt
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

I am writing a WebDAV server ('wsgidav') and noticed that I cannot copy
folders with Nautilus.

1. connect to the WebDAV share, open it in Nautilus
2. drag a folder to the Ubuntu Desktop
3. A HTML file is created, where the copied folder should be

Happens on Ubuntu 8.04 and 9

In the WebDAV log I can see, that Nautilus sends a GET request for the
collection. My server generates an HTML response in this case, so that the
share can be viewed with a browser.
I am pretty sure, that this is OK, according to the spec:
http://www.webdav.org/specs/rfc4918.html#rfc.section.9.4

I think, Nautilus should rather send recursive GETs for the single files
(or send a COPY or MOVE request, if the target is inside the same WebDAV
share)

This is an indicator session problem. When you quit empathy and have no

** Changed in: indicator-session (Ubuntu)

[Bug 496182] Re: After quitting empathy the status icon doesn't return to its normal state but gets greyed out.

2009-12-27 Thread Vish
This is not a bug , the current behavior behavior is designed to behave
as such: https://bugs.launchpad.net/indicator-
session/+bug/432635/comments/25

The current behaviour (in karmic RC) is to display the shutdown icon
until your IM status has been set. Once empathy/pidgin connects and sets
your status it will change to the status icon.

[Bug 498694] Re: sometimes resume from suspend doesn't ask for password, instead goes to straight to the desktop instead.

2009-12-27 Thread Cuco3
I can't get it to reproduce, it truly is random. It'll occur about every
10-20th resume-from-suspend.
