[Bug 500747] Re: gdmsetup errors : key not found
my system was a clean install of Karmic A2, then daily updated. Looking at upto date config, i've read a curious comment in custom.conf which now replace gdm.conf: Older versions of GDM used the gdm.conf file for configuration. If your # system has an old gdm.conf file on the system, it will be used instead of # this file - so changes made to this file will not take effect. [Bug 500762] [NEW] Nautilus tree view should show Safely Remove Drive in context menu
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus When I insert a USB device, I get an icon on the desktop and an icon in Nautilus' tree view. The right-click context menu from the tree view's USB drive icon lets me Unmount or Eject but not Safely Remove Drive. [Bug 500747] Re: gdmsetup errors : key not found
I am also getting key not found errors. I did a fresh install of 9.10 i386 a few hours ago. Although I do not know for certain the problems are related must inform you that I removed many packages which I believed were not needed as soon as the Ubuntu installer completed. I then ssh -Xed in and then ran DISPLAY=:0.0 gdmsetup to turn on autologin but found I could not. Perhaps I somehow removed some needed package for gdmsetup but if so gdmsetup should have had a dependency of the package to alert me! gdmsetup also should have had a dependency on the needed package(s) so that I could simply reinstall gdmsetup and the needed packages would come along with it. [Bug 500780] [NEW] Super (Windows Key) alone in keyboard shortcuts now broken.
Public bug reported: I am unable to assign the Windows-Key (Super L) alone to an action in the Keyboard Shortcuts Application (gnome-keybinding-properties) as previously possible. I am only able to assign MOD4+? (windows key + another key). I understand there was previously a bug #12153 where people were rightly upset they couldn't assign the windows key in conjunction with another key to a shortcut. Fixing this bug appears to have created another bug whereby now it is impossible to assign the windows key alone using the gnome control panel. There is no good reason why we should lose the ability to assign an action to the windows key alone (Super L) if the user does not require any windows key combination (MOD4+?) keyboard shortcuts. Of course I am very happy using the Windows key as a modifier is fixed (thank you) but this is not an either-or situation and the old functionality is clearly broken. If you don't want to think of it as Super_L is broken then please consider this bug as MOD4+NOTHING is broken. In fact, if you think of this as MOD4+NOTHING is broken then you can have both MOD4+? keyboard shortcuts and a MOD4+NOTHING shortcut as MOD4+NOTHING is detected on key_up unlike Super_L which is detected on key_down. . lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 9.10 Release:9.10 ** Affects: control-center (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Super (Windows Key) alone in keyboard shortcuts now broken. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/500780 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to control-center in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 484317] Re: GDM allows root logins
@Kees, I agree. This patch attached should do just that. It's a slight modification of another part of the gdm code that disallows the showing of system users in the selection screen. I think it also might be related to why the Shutdown/Restart is greyed from the System Shutdown menu My system is up to date: m...@md:~$ uname -r 2.6.31-17-generic m...@md:~$ ck-list-sessions Session3: unix-user = '1000' realname = 'Michael Dance' seat = 'Seat5' session-type = '' active = FALSE x11-display = ':0' x11-display-device = '/dev/tty7' display-device = '' remote-host-name = '' is-local = TRUE on-since = '2009-12-27T00:55:16.343876Z' login-session-id = '4294967295' Session6: unix-user = '1000' realname = 'Michael Dance' seat = 'Seat8' session-type = '' active = FALSE x11-display = '' x11-display-device = '' display-device = '/dev/smb/7139/100' remote-host-name = ':::127.0.0.1' is-local = FALSE on-since = '2009-12-27T20:13:22.764843Z' login-session-id = '4294967295' m...@md:~$ ps aux | grep polkit-gnome-authentication-agent-1 md7643 0.0 0.1 147336 6268 ?SDec27 0:00 /usr/lib/policykit-1-gnome/polkit-gnome-authentication-agent-1 md8826 0.0 0.0 7336 896 pts/0R+ 09:34 0:00 grep --color=auto polkit-gnome-authentication-agent-1 m...@md:~$ gdmsetup ** (gdmsetup:8951): WARNING **: Error calling GetValue('daemon/TimedLoginEnable'): Key not found ** (gdmsetup:8951): WARNING **: Error calling GetValue('daemon/TimedLoginDelay'): Key not found ** (gdmsetup:8951): DEBUG: init delay=30 ** (gdmsetup:8951): DEBUG: GdmUserManager: skipping shell /bin/false ** (gdmsetup:8951): DEBUG: GdmUserManager: Found current seat: /org/freedesktop/ConsoleKit/Seat5 ** (gdmsetup:8951): DEBUG: GdmUserManager: running 'ck-history --frequent --seat='Seat5' --session-type=''' ** (gdmsetup:8951): DEBUG: GdmUserManager: explicitly skipping user: nobody ** (gdmsetup:8951): DEBUG: GdmUserManager: user icon changed ** (gdmsetup:8951): DEBUG: adding monitor for '/home/md/.face' ** (gdmsetup:8951): DEBUG: GdmUserManager: user icon changed ** (gdmsetup:8951): DEBUG: adding monitor for '/home/svn/.face' ** (gdmsetup:8951): DEBUG: GdmUserManager: user icon changed ** (gdmsetup:8951): DEBUG: adding monitor for '/home/garydance/.face' ** (gdmsetup:8951): DEBUG: GdmUserManager: user icon changed ** (gdmsetup:8951): DEBUG: adding monitor for '/var/aegir/.face' ** (gdmsetup:8951): DEBUG: Getting list of sessions for user 1003 ** (gdmsetup:8951): DEBUG: Found 0 sessions for user aegir ** (gdmsetup:8951): DEBUG: Getting list of sessions for user 1002 ** (gdmsetup:8951): DEBUG: Found 0 sessions for user garydance ** (gdmsetup:8951): DEBUG: Getting list of sessions for user 1001 ** (gdmsetup:8951): DEBUG: Found 0 sessions for user svn ** (gdmsetup:8951): DEBUG: Getting list of sessions for user 1000 ** (gdmsetup:8951): DEBUG: Found 2 sessions for user md ** (gdmsetup:8951): DEBUG: GdmUser: adding session /org/freedesktop/ConsoleKit/Session3 ** (gdmsetup:8951): DEBUG: GdmUserManager: sessions changed user=md num=1 ** (gdmsetup:8951): DEBUG: GdmUserManager: added session for user: md ** (gdmsetup:8951): DEBUG: GdmUserManager: not adding session on other seat: /org/freedesktop/ConsoleKit/Session6 -- Cannot Unlock System Administration Login Screen https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/431147 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 500863] [NEW] Problem when copying folders with Nautilus using WebDAV
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus I am writing a WebDAV server ('wsgidav') and noticed that I cannot copy folders with Nautilus. 1. connect to the WebDAV share, open it in Nautilus 2. drag a folder to the Ubuntu Desktop 3. A HTML file is created, where the copied folder should be Happens on Ubuntu 8.04 and 9 In the WebDAV log I can see, that Nautilus sends a GET request for the collection. My server generates an HTML response in this case, so that the share can be viewed with a browser. I am pretty sure, that this is OK, according to the spec: http://www.webdav.org/specs/rfc4918.html#rfc.section.9.4 I think, Nautilus should rather send recursive GETs for the single files (or send a COPY or MOVE request, if the target is inside the same WebDAV share) Log snippet: ... 3612 192.168.178.28 - tester - [2009-12-27 20:32:21] PROPFIND /xeri2 length=235, depth=0, elap=0.003sec - 207 Multistatus 4868 192.168.178.28 - tester - [2009-12-27 20:32:21] GET /xeri2 elap=0.002sec - 200 OK 880 192.168.178.28 - tester - [2009-12-27 20:32:21] PROPFIND /xeri2 length=235, depth=0, elap=0.004sec - 207 Multistatus ... [Bug 454234] Re: eel_preferences_get_boolean: assertion `preferences_is_initialized ()' failed
@Erez : I was looking for opening the properties window for my .avi file. Your patch seems to solve my problem. Now I do not get these annoying messages Creating properties window and the properties window come quickly up. But I - at the moment (before reboot) - do have the problem that sudo nautilus did not work and comes up with: (nautilus:10857): Unique-DBus-WARNING **: Error while sending message: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken. [Bug 496182] Re: After quitting empathy the status icon doesn't return to its normal state but gets greyed out.
This is an indicator session problem. [Bug 496182] Re: After quitting empathy the status icon doesn't return to its normal state but gets greyed out.
This is not a bug , the current behavior behavior is designed to behave as such: https://bugs.launchpad.net/indicator- session/+bug/432635/comments/25 The current behaviour (in karmic RC) is to display the shutdown icon until your IM status has been set. Once empathy/pidgin connects and sets your status it will change to the status icon. -- After quitting empathy the status icon doesn't return to its normal state but gets greyed out. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/496182 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
