[Bug 229197] Re: rhythmbox notifications don't show album cover

2010-03-07 Thread Serrano Pereira
This bug still exists on a fully updated Ubuntu Karmic with Rhythmbox
0.12.7. Strangly, I didn't have this problem when I had just installed
it. It started happening later that day while I was playing around with
CoverGloobus. At first it would load all covers the way it should. Then
later that same day it would only display covers from albums that have
the cover as a separate .jpg file in the same folder (covers from ID3
tags were not displayed). And now (a few days later) it won't show any
covers at all (although at times it does). DarthTibault's method also
didn't change anything for me.

I added a screenshot with the bug in action.

[Bug 534131] [NEW] Gnome Terminal opens as all white. Also System Monitor

2010-03-07 Thread rforberg
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-terminal

Problem with Gnome Terminal app. It opens and its all white, and
therefore not useable.Yesterday it was fine. Cannot see prompt or any
lines I type. But drop down menus in Terminal work, and I can change
terminal profile, but it makes no difference. Desktop theme (colors)
also makes no difference.. Running Ubuntu V8.04 (Hardy Heron), Had same
problem in V7.x. Upgraded today to fix it, but it made no difference.

Just tried opening other small desktop admin and accessory apps. They
all opened normally. But System Monitor was also all white and not
visible. (It was also working yesterday). Seems like it could be a
system problem (maybe graphics board related).

I did this with very few other apps open. Just Firefox.

[Bug 430425] Re: Gnome Terminal starts up, but menubar is white-on-white, no characters seen

2010-03-07 Thread rforberg
I had a working terminal app until today. Yesterday it was fine. Today
it became all white but all drop down menus are there, and I can change
the terminal profile, but that did not help. I had changed nothing in
the system. Then I played with different desktop color themes. No
affect on problem. So I upgraded to V8.04 Ubuntu (Hardy Heron) from V
7, figuring that would fix it. No Luck.

[Bug 532825] Re: jamendo loads all streaming files with ogg2 stream encoding

2010-03-07 Thread Michael McCann
I can confirm this.

After a little probing, the problem seems to be two fold;

1) Jamendo's ogg streaming is broken
http://www.jamendo.com/en/forums/discussion/10472/ogg-streaming-via-api-results-in-redirect-loop/

2) The Rhythmbox Jamendo plugin hard codes the stream as ogg, so ignores
whichever option is set

/usr/lib/rhythmbox/plugins/jamendo/JamendoSaxHandler.py:29
stream_url =
"http://api.jamendo.com/get2/stream/track/redirect/?id=%s&streamencoding=ogg2";

Just changing the encoding to mp31 (the only other encoding listed in
http://developer.jamendo.com/en/wiki/Musiclist2ApiUsefulQueries) seems
to work for me.

[Bug 265033] Re: Form contents are invisible when cursor leaves field, but data is still saved in form.

2010-03-07 Thread dentonlt
[bump]

Same problem - form field contents disappear when the cursor leaves the
field. In my case, contents are completely lost.

When entering a form field, Evince gives a "bad form bounding box" error
at the console.

I am using a bare-bones Tiny Core 2.9 (debian-like) installation + plain
jane Evince + updated poppler/gconf/etc.

I have tried a few PDF forms created using Adobe - all forms work fine
on Adobe Win, Foxit Win. Evince is the only form editor I've seen on
Linux, or I would try the form elsewhere. (I'm searching!) I'll re-test
on Ubuntu, but expect the same.

I'll join the bug-digging team here, as I really need this to work out.

[Bug 534083] [NEW] resizing is wrong when re-enabling "show controls"

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: totem

When re-enabling showing of controls totem resizes the window to be 100%
of the height of the screen instead of retaining it's desired 1:1 size.

Totem is set up to set window size automatically when loading videos

[Bug 349366] [NEW] system freeze upon insertion of blank DVD (dual layer)

2010-03-07 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

system hard lock few seconds after i insert a new blank dvd (dual layer) in my
drive.
it worked fine last week, (from intrepid ibex) before i update to jaunty.
it worked on hardy too and earlier.
harware didn't change, only thing that changed is the upgrade to jaunty.
when the system freeze, numlock and caps lock aren't responding, neither
crtl+alt+f1,f2.. nor ctrl+alt+backspace.
it seems completely frozen.
even if i insert the DVD in the drive before the system boots up, i can login
gnome, i see my desktop,
but then everything is frozen. eache time i try to put a dvd in the drive i
have to hard reboot the machine ..

my system doesn't have much to overload the psu: i just have HDD and DVD drive.
i use onboard gfx, sound and net chip.

i include hardinfo report.

(hardinfo should be included by default it's great)

tnx for your attention

Gnome session. I have a slightly different presentation, in that the
icon appears and disappears; I don't get empty spaces. I upgraded my
Karmic install to Lucid yesterday.

[Bug 348558] [NEW] No automount of encrypted super-floppy-like usb-stick

2010-03-07 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Hi,

I found that problem with the gnome desktop on latest intrepid:

ubuntu has a pretty good support of USB-Sticks (pendrives), they are
automounted if plugged in. Even better, if the partition is encrypted
with cryptsetup, a password requester appears and the encrypted device
is mounted. Great. :-)

But then, there are plenty of USB sticks/pendrives, that do not come with a
partition table, but are used as one large partition by default (i.e. have
their filesystem on /dev/sdc instead of /dev/sdc1). The gnome desktop mounts
them as well as they are unencrypted.

But when a whole stick (like /dev/sdc) has a cryptsetup-encrypted
filesytem, Ubuntu still can raise the password requester, but then does
not mount the device. It takes manual intervention.

Of course, would be easy to put a partition table on the stick with
fdisk, but that's a workaround, not a bug fix.

regards
Hadmut

[Bug 529744] Re: When creating a new user, "Shortname" should really be "Username" .

2010-03-07 Thread Milan Bouchet-Valat
Hmm, thanks for working on this, but if we change this now, we need to
update translations too, else non-English versions won't be consistent
with the English one. And since GNOME is in string freeze currently, I'm
really not sure it's worth the work for translators. I'd like to hear
from other developers to be sure it's worth applying this patch only for
Ubuntu.

[Bug 534068] [NEW] Evolution doesn't support recurring tasks

2010-03-07 Thread Josh Bowman
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

In Evolution, it is not possible to create a recurring task. This
functionality is important for people (like me) who want to use the task
list to manage our recurring tasks, for example: this bill is due every
month on the 15th, remember to schedule a car tune-up every so often,
etc. I realize that one can set recurring EVENTS, however this is kind
of a kluge: tasks and events really have different semantics, and it's a
pain to try and remember that some of my "tasks" might actually be
sitting on my calendar, one month out of view.

NOTE: This bug is distinct from bug 183523. Both that bug and this one
have equivalents in GNOME's Bugzilla. And the GNOME bug equivalent to
this one is over nine years old.

In Ubuntu Jaunty alpha 6, my real dpi is used (130dpi), but in System →
Preferences → Appareance, Fonts, Details…, it is written 96. If I
confirm, the "real" dpi used by gnome is set to 96 (so all my fonts
become small), and if I put 130 in that spinner, the fonts come back
normal, and the settings "130" is now correct in the dialog box.

[Bug 433654] Re: [Karmic]&[Lucid] Only one user has sound; no hw shows in Sound Preferences

2010-03-07 Thread Igor Wojnicki
Milan, I think that removing audio group is not a good idea. There are
at least 2 reasons.

1. It might affect a lot of system components at least udev, libmtp, alsa which
might cause regressions.
2. It would prevent group based access control to the audio device - mind that
/dev is dynamic, so configuring back /dev/dsp group owned by audio will not be
that easy - i.e. this kind of access control is crucial if your box is used
remotely as a juke box.

2) Select the created bookmark and press F2 to edit the bookmark name in-place.

[Bug 517920] Re: gnome-appearance-properties no longer provides tooltips about background image names

2010-03-07 Thread Peter Belew
The shell commands

grep filename ~/.gnome2/backgrounds.xml | sed -e 's///g' | sed
-e 's/<\/filename>//g' | less

will show all the paths and filenames of the list of background images.

This will be of use if no change is made in Karmic to fix this problem.

I attached a script with these commands. It isn't *really a solution*,
but rather a workaround allowing users to find where their background
images are.

What you are seeing is a different bug with similar symptoms. Neither
