[Bug 550101] [NEW] Export of keys and keyrings is not available
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: seahorse When I try to export key or keyring, the menu is grayed out. Thus I cannot make backups of my keys. That would be only a inconvenience, if I could just backup keys by copying seahorse configuration directory. I guess I can do that, if only I knew, where it actually is. It is certainly NOT .gnupg, because when I delete it (in recovery mode, as root), the keys are still there and .gnupg folder is as good as new. It would be very nice to do something about this. [Bug 433651] Re: no text wrap when typing in the message entry
I can confirm this bug in Lucid Beta 1. Text wrap works as it should if the IRC room contactlist is disabled (uncheck Conversation Show contactlist). If you enable the contactlist, the window automatically grows (width only) when typing texts longer than the window width. It does not wrap text in the input field anymore. Also, I noticed that the window already starts widening before you've reached the end of the input field. Looks like the right part of the input field that remains blank is about the same width as the default width of the contactlist. Can't confirm that though, because I had already made it smaller. This bug is really annoying, especially on small screens like netbooks. The window is able to grow beond the size of the desktop itself. I've tried maximizing the window, but even then it still widens further. A part just drops off the screen. This makes it a real usability bug so I think the importance should be higher than the current 'low'. -- no text wrap when typing in the message entry https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/433651 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to empathy in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 475974 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/475974 Actually, I think that's a duplicate of bug 475974. What happens is that the first time you open the group settings dialog, the GID is set to 0, and group creation fails. Just close and launch the dialog again, and it works. This is fixed for a long time with users-admin 2.28.2, but Karmic only has 2.28.1. Sadly, I don't think somebody is going to work on a backport of the (trivial fix) now. I do not know if it occured on other computers (if that is what you mean by reproducible), but it happens every time I let the computer idle and the screensver goes on. I can also freeze the computer by locking the screen, or by suspending activity. I had set the screensaver in Karmic before the upgrade, and haven't touched the settings since. [Bug 390001] Re: Gnome visual effects not retained after reboot
Isn't the problem actually in GConf? Ever since switching from Metacity to Compiz in Jaunty, the state of the Compiz systems has failed to be stored on logout. In particular, Gnome thinks it is supposed to be using Metacity but Metacity fails to start so no window manager. This means manually setting Compiz and waiting for it to scan the device drivers. The Compiz state is also reset so I have to manually switch of the Snapping Windows which I really dislike. Fianlly the state of the workspace switcher has to be reset to what I want as that fails to be remembered across logins. The upgrade from Karmic to Lucid hasn't helped so I guess this is not a distribution thing, just a configuration thing that doesn't get altered across upgrades. -- Gnome visual effects not retained after reboot https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/390001 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Our thoughts: 1. We find this irksome (inconsistent with most other computers, illogical and demanding of extra attention, particularly on netbooks). Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-control-center Yes, it's a beta. And we're just learning LVM. And it's on a 9 netbook. But a short WARNING MESSAGE, that your current LVM implementation has a known shortfall in Grub2, would have saved days of wasted effort. Promise: LVM promises to add space to this Asus 901 netbook, which has no hard drive; instead, it performs nicely with a fast 4GB SSD and a slower 16GB one (with its RAM upped from 1GB to 2). We run / on the fast drive, /home on the slow drive, and wanted to use LVM to spread /usr across the spare space on both drives. The GUI looked smooth - after we found good Fedora documentation. All we needed to know at the outset, was: NOTE: This Beta has faulty Grub2 support for LVM, which should be corrected in the next Beta. [Bug 535322] Re: no gui options to switch title bar buttons back to right side
This bug is not about whether the new window buttons are good or bad. This bug is about how there is no gui option to switch the buttons back to the right side. It is therefore beyond this bug's scope to talk about whether the window button positioning should be kept. Appropriate comments regarding the new window buttons are welcome at bug #532633.
