[Bug 304765] Re: Evolution mail renames attached pdf's to dat's...
Since nobody is paying attention to this bug, and it is still a problem for me in the latest version of Ubuntu, I will try to re-open it and submit the information needed. Attached is a screendump showing two almost identical email. The only difference is the name of the attached file. One is named meeting.txt and the other was named möte.txt when I sent it (meeting is möte in Swedish). After sending it from Evolution from an updated Ubuntu 10.04, the attechment is named ATT345267.txt when received in Microsoft Outlook 2007. ** Attachment added: Screendump of Outlook 2007 http://launchpadlibrarian.net/50353969/Evolution-bug.png -- Evolution mail renames attached pdf's to dat's... https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/304765 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

I'm attaching the patch file in here ready to be placed in debian/patches folder and to build the package. ** Patch added: Patch to create gconf key to toggle fade effect. http://launchpadlibrarian.net/50365658/17_toggle_fade_on_lock_in_gconf.patch -- Gnome Screensaver Doesn't Fade Out https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/591500 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-screensaver in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 593226] Re: gnome panels suddenly have a 25 second delay after session load
Since this problem occurred (I don't know when as it's another user who uses gnome and reported the issue to me) I've ran multiple full updates and the problem persisted. However, I had allowed her to login with no password. Using the System-Administration-Users and Groups dialogue reported that her account was disabled (presumably as it had no password). As root I used passwd to set her account password to a non-null value and then the Users and Groups dialogue reported nothing special about her account (The dialogue always reported that the password was asked at login). On login she was still not asked for a password (as I'd configured pam to require no password, see below) but the problem persisted. I'd allowed her to login with no password since before GNOME had an option allowing this - I'd put a line in /etc/pam.d/gdm which read auth sufficient pam_listfile.so item=user sense=allow file=/etc/gdm/nopassusers.txt onerr=fail (and added her username to /etc/gdm/nopassusers.txt). Commenting out this line meant that gdm asked her for her password and the problem was gone. Further, I tried un-commenting this line and removing her from nopassusers.txt and the problem stayed fixed. I then created a new user. With the line uncommented: if the new user was in nopassusers.txt problem occurred, if not no problem (even though the user had a properly defined password). the option Don't ask for password on login in the Users and Groups dialogue was greyed out for me (as root or not), and searching gave no clues, so I can't test that. So for me this looks as if it's arising from pam and gdm somewhere. -- gnome panels suddenly have a 25 second delay after session load https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/593226 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-panel in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

You have been subscribed to a public bug: I've followed the instructions in: http://live.gnome.org/GnomeScreensaver/FrequentlyAskedQuestions#How_can_I_create_a_new_theme_for_a_pre-existing_theme_engine.3F, but I cannot get any new themes installed. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. I have classified this bug as a bug in gnome-screensaver. When reporting bugs in the future please use apport, either via the appropriate application's Help - Report a Problem menu or using 'ubuntu-bug' and the name of the package affected. Since I assumed that the tab used for search would behave in the same way two tabs without search operation does, I misunderstood that the file was still there. [Bug 538612] Re: cursor blinks even when terminal doesn't have focus
This is a valid bug. I have upgraded lucid to the latest updates. In a screen with 10 gnome-terminal windows, a random half of them have a blinking cursor. Some windows behave normal, which is no focus no blinking. When I open a new gnome-terminal, the cursor in that window blinks only when it has focus. But after a while, without apparent reason, some cursors blink permanently, even in windows I never typed anything. [Bug 594527] Re: evolution-data-server-2.28 crashed with SIGSEGV
I do not know if it is because of the above crash, but later I wished to contact a firm and the website apparently sent a request to the default email client. No doubt when I tried-out Evolution the other day, it made itself default. I must change that... Anyway, it brought up an Evolution window for email composing. Since that contained information that I needed to write the email myself at the aol site, I tried to cut-and-paste the address into my browser searchbar (just somewhere to put it - I've often found it a useful place to stuff things I will need sooner or later, when I don't have an editor/wordprocessor up. But I digress...), but cut-and-paste did not function, so I had to write the address down by hand. (Bug? I don't know. In my opinion, everywhere there exists text that is text, it should be cut-and-pasteable.) Anyway, Evolution put up a window saying it wanted a password to unlock some keyring or other. I did not want Evolution to do anything with anything, so I said Deny. It went away, and came back. Repeatedly. I got rid of the compose window (I don't know if it was cancel or close window) The password window kept coming back, and I kept denying it. Finally, I had to put up a terminal, type htop, and search for processes having to do with Evolution. I was surprised to find that there was still a process with details about the email-compose window. I selected it, hit F9, and selected SIGKILL. I think that did it. So far, no more password window. The above terminal process was not as quick as it looks, as the password window kept coming back and eating keystrokes intended for htop or terminal, and trying to make a password from them. If I was unlikely to use Evolution before this incident, guess what the odds are now...? Any more issues, and I will remove the package (after dealing with my poor captive emails, of course...) This may or may not be a separate bug from the one that crashed E-data- server. I have no idea. [Bug 593477] Re: Use VP8/WebM as the default video codec/format
I think you'll find that the official ffmpeg trunk has only had vpx encoding for around 12 days, and webm muxing for about 8 days. Maverick is still on ffmpeg 0.5.1 (0.5.2 is latest official release) and Ubuntu tracks releases rather than svn snapshots. I'd hence hypothesis that the bugs you've raised again 'project (Ubuntu)' packages are all invalid until a) (at the very least) ffmpeg and gstreamer have made official releases with vpx and webm support and b) the upstreams for each of the projects have similarly made releases with support for vpx and webm either through their own direct linking against libvpx etc., or via ffmpeg/gstreamer prereq -- Use VP8/WebM as the default video codec/format https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/593477 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to ekiga in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 594135] Re: Automatic Playlist creation doesnt allow for partial ANDs or ORs
I should clarify, this is a request for an enhancement. As far as I can tell, the current functionality is not broken, but rather incomplete. I installed Lucid to a VM and saw the same issue, which leads me to believe I failed at explaining my issue, for this I am sorry. The problem is the GUI for creating an automatic playlist allows you to use all ANDs or all ORs. Ive posed the following example. (Screen-caps included) Example assumptions: I've added 4 fake songs to my library: Title/Genre/Rating(out of 5) Song1/Rock/4 Song2/Alternative/5 Song3/Punk/4 Song4/Rock/1 Desired result: An automatic playlist that allows me to add all Rock/Alternative/Punk songs of rating 4 or greater... Observed result: None. Creating a playlist in this way is not possible currently because of limitations of the automatic playlist creation pop- up. Further info: What I'm saying is, using the provided GUI for automatic playlist creation, I can, at best, create a playlist that has all 4 fake songs using the settings set in the automatic playlist creation pop-up. This is incomplete as I can think of several cases where the gui fails to allow me to create specific profiles. Ideally, I would like to create a playlist with several different Genres but only with the best songs. Or rather in this example, an automatic playlist with Song1, Song2, and Song3. (and therefore, more good songs as I add them...) Additional comments: I understand the desire to keep things simple/intuitive for users but that doesn't mean functionality should be hindered as a result. I hope you agree. Thanks for all your time and effort. It IS much appreciated. ** Attachment added: Screen-caps attempting to explain my meaning http://launchpadlibrarian.net/50376480/Rhythmbox-Screencaps.tgz -- Automatic Playlist creation doesnt allow for partial ANDs or ORs https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/594135 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to rhythmbox in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
