The feature that change my status to away seams to be the one
described in bug #544242. However this should not append because Martin
Mai says in comment #6 that it's fixed in maverick but not in lucid. So
what part on Ubuntu changes my status to away ?

[Bug 589655] Re: .ICEauthority and gconf-sanity-check-2 problems on login DOMAIN account

2010-07-01 Thread Daniel Walrond
I am experiencing a similar problem. Same error messages. Recently
upgraded from 8.04 LTS to 10.04 LTS. Although it is an intermittent
problem and I cannot pin down why it sometimes works or doesn't work.
When getting these error messages none of the menu bars appear. When
there's not a problem everything appears to be normal.

The home directory is mounted from a FreeBSD NFS server. Having the lock
manager turn off gives a similar problem.

Looking at the permissions of the ~/.ICEauthority file, it is owned by
the user and is readable by the user.

Hopefully this does not effect a similar setup at work with a lot more
users and desktops.

[Bug 590910] Re: Nautilus: 'Connect to server...' - FTP Copy folder to desktop locks

2010-07-01 Thread Paul Humphries
Same problem here.

Uploading to Synology NAS from any of my laptops works ok. The problem
is with downloading from the NAS.

I can download (drag and drop) single files or groups of single files
OK, but when I try to transfer a folder the process starts and then
halts after a few megabytes. Trying to close the copy dialogue just
greys the close button without stopping the process.

The problem started after updating using Update Manager (a few updates
ago so I'm unsure when exactly)

[Bug 545894] [NEW] notifications appear over screensaver

2010-07-01 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

In Xubuntu Lucid, popup notifications such as new IMs, people signing in
etc. appear over the top of the screensaver. This is possibly the same
as Bug #21172 but that is Fix Released and the last post is in 2005.

I'm not sure if this is a libnotify issue or a pidgin issue.

[Bug 357254] [NEW] Safe to remove device name should be displayed in notification area

2010-07-01 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

This is more of a feature request than a bug and can be marked as a
wishlist item.

When all the partitions on a disk device have been unmounted, the
notification area should display that the item is safe to be ejected
(for a good 10 seconds until timeout - also disappears once the device
has been removed).

Currently Jaunty display the safe to remove device name dialog in
the middle of the screen. This is not very sleek and does not work
consistently (on some disks only).

In the spirit of usability, there should be a discussion started
concerning how to inform the user that a drive cannot be unmounted
because a *specific* application is using it.

I can reproduce this, every time I hit Control+Alt+L screen locks, and
password does not unlock it. Workaround is to switch user and login back

Nope.

Actually the problem is GNOME related. If you adjust the keyboard layout
to be change with Ctrl+Shift (and not as is by default with
Alt+Shift), these keys are blocked by GNOME and the keyboard layout

[Bug 594329] Re: Empathy crashes if unable to write conversation log

It appears, as people on the GNOME Bugzilla have pointed out, that this
bug is actually with Telepathy, not Empathy.

[Bug 42705] Re: Critical power warning at 99%

2010-07-01 Thread Matthew Stephen Michael Planchard
This bug has cropped up again in Lucid. I was able to work around it by
disabling the option use_time_for_policy in the gconf-editor's
settings for gnome-power-manager. I no longer get the warning.
However, it was causing unwanted hibernation any time I unplugged the
laptop before I did that.

Confirmation can be found in the following posts from the Ubuntu forum
from users having the same problem:
