[Bug 617717] [NEW] only mails of evolution backup (from previous version) restored

2010-08-14 Thread David Ayers
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

I'm not entirely certain this is a valid bug report or a feature
request.

I'm trying to replicate issues I find in Lucid in Maverick. To that
end, I attempted to restore an evolution backup file created in Lucid on
a Maverick installation. The restoration completed and mails seem to
be fully restored, yet the contacts, calendar entries, tasks and memos
are not restored. Well, the files are unpacked and exist, but it seems
the new version of evolution does not expect them there.

Is this expected behavior? Must I restore to the same version and then
upgrade the entire distribution to migrate my evolution data? I'd find
that extremely inconvenient. But maybe I'm missing something else.

ProblemType: Bug
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.10

[Bug 617304] Re: Contacts: duplicate entry warning: custom widget creation failed

2010-08-14 Thread David Ayers
Thanks.

My tests are currently blocked by issue / Bug #617717 and I'm not sure
if I really have to go through a Lucid-Maverick upgrade in a VM. If
that's the case then I won't be able to give reliable feedback until
start of September due to connectivity issues.

2010-08-14 Thread Fabio Marconi
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which
is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper
developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . I have classified this
bug as a bug in seahorse.

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu-
bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this
functionality at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs.

[Bug 550054] Re: Power Manager Not putting Monitor to Sleep

2010-08-14 Thread Tom Star
Yes, I did set the screensaver to activate! The problem is that this
script kept turning my external display off whenever I stopped moving
the mouse -immediately! :-)

Here is what I did:
- Copied your Perl script from this webpage.
- Pasted it into my editor (checked that it contains no malicious code :).
- Saved your script into /usr/local/bin.
- Added read and execution rights for everyone.
- Added it to System/Preferences/Startup Applications.
- Rebooted my Linux.

And then I had to disable the script, because of the mentioned problem.

By the way: thank you that you at least made an effort to help us!

[Bug 406248] [NEW] mouse fails to left click, icons are dragged as mouse cursor passes over them

2010-08-14 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

In Jaunty Netbook remix on an Acer Aspire the mouse occasionally fails.

Normally the mouse (both synaptics and usb mouse)works correctly. After
opening a terminal (and typically running aptitude) the mouse no longer
operates correctly. When the mouse cursor is passed over an icon the
icon is set into drag mode, and a right click puts it down. Left clicks
are not recognised.

Same here, worked after I unmounted. Thanks guys! You can use
administration - disk utility (palimpsest) to unmount it but I can't
remember if that's in the default install.

Anyway, it would be nice if Brasero were fixed to handle this more
elegantly.

[Bug 504026] Re: Can not power down eSATA drive

2010-08-14 Thread Psy[H[]
with gvfs version 1.6.1-0ubuntu1build1 there is no change.
I doubt that it is possible to tell if HDD is SATA or eSATA, because both
internal HDDs and the one in the external dock are connected via SATA ports on
motherboard.
So the only solution is to add spindown option for sata disks that have no
volumes listed in fstab.

2010-08-14 Thread Fabio Marconi
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which
is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper
developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . I have classified this
bug as a bug in gnome-terminal.

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu-

functionality at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs.

[Bug 257818] Re: Totem Fails To Deinterlace

2010-08-14 Thread madbiologist
It looks like this has been fixed in Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat.
From the totem (2.31.6-0ubuntu1) changelog:

  * New upstream version:
- Add deinterlacing support, automatically used for interlaced content

Given that Maverick also has GStreamer Base Plug-ins 0.10.30-1build1
this should be fixed now.

I'll try and test with the files in comment 2.

Can someone else also test please?

[Bug 407232] Re: Can't adjust brightness Gateway M-6801m

2010-08-14 Thread Fabio Marconi
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which
is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper
developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . I have classified this
bug as a bug in gnome power manager.

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu-
bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this
functionality at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs.

[Bug 617912] Re: gnome-terminal crashed with SIGSEGV in g_object_set()

2010-08-14 Thread Dave Gilbert
The backtrace does contain mention of menu code, so am suspecting there
is something more menu relating going on - especially since i noticed
when I'm starting the terminal it's taking a noticeable time for the
menu to appear and in my .xsession-errors I see:

2010-08-14 Thread Aymeric PETIT
I'm not developer of brasero, but I can certify that this brasero-session.log
was generated by brasero when I do this exactly this step:
1-Insert audio disk
2-Open brasero
3-Select disk copy (create 1:1 copy of a CD/DVD)
4-Select copy
5-An error occurred, do you want to save log (or some thing similar, I didn't
remember exact message)
6-Installing a software that allow my customer to copy their audio disk.

That's all

[Bug 405544] Re: Kernel does not recognize blank optical media

2010-08-14 Thread M. Nease
Colan and Bernard,

Since you're having this problem in Lucid and I'm not, might it be
helpful (for someone smarter than me) to compare pertinent parts of my
file system to yours? If anyone can advise me as to how to produce the
pertinent output, I'd be glad to post it here.

I should add that I did have this problem several months ago but I'm
afraid I have no idea how I got around it.

[Bug 617964] [NEW] Nautilus crashes on seeing SVG file first time and then on the thumbnails

2010-08-14 Thread davidpbrown
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

Nautilus crashes as it enters the folder containing the attached SVG and
others.

Having navigated to the folder once, it seems to be happy to return,
suggesting it's maybe the creation of the thumbnail that's an issue?

Then it will crash again with either left or right click on the
thumbnail and before any option has been selected.

(Apparently others have seen this.. Bug #598503 Invalid for lack of
information.)

[Bug 617967] [NEW] nautilus rename ctrl+c ctrl+v inserts path of file

2010-08-14 Thread stoffel
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

In Ubuntu maverick (development branch) with nautilus
(1:2.31.6-0ubuntu3.1) when trying to rename a file after another file
(subtitle file should have the same name except the extension) I F2
(rename) and copy with ctrl-c the filename then I F2 (rename) the other
file and ctrl-v (paste) the name from the first file.

What happens is the copying of the first file because ctrl-c copied the full
pathname of the first file, not the actual filename.
Instead of trying to rename after the copied text you get copies of the files!

this happened in normal nautilus but also in elementary/ppa.

DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.10

2010-08-14 Thread davidpbrown
!! bug caused wrong file to upload .. ignore the .kmz file (I'd delete
it if I knew how)

So, I tried to upload again from a folder that contained only that one
file and Firefox crashed. I guess that's bound to it's using Nautilus in
some way.

Will try to post the SVG as text instead..

If I run mplayer -vo x11 I am able to see the video. (It uses the same
small size even if I use full-screen size), but I think it is limitation
of the x11 video output mode.

[Bug 618026] [NEW] evolution ecalendar pilot conduit doesn't transfer time zone info of appointments

2010-08-14 Thread Jeremy Wolcott
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Evolution's ECalendar Pilot conduit doesn't transfer the time zone data
of appointments from my Palm Treo 755p.

In Evolution 2.28.3-0ubuntu10 (Ubuntu 10.04.1).

Expected: when I synchronize an appointment from my Treo (say, using
copy from PDA setting in Gnome-Pilot), time zone of appointment is set
correctly in the Evolution appointment.

Instead: appointment in Evolution has no time zone setting at all.

This is irritating since my Pilot device often contains appointments
with start times in different time zones (I travel a fair bit), but they
show up on my calendar as if the Pilot's start times are all in my local
time zone, so half of the appointments copied to Evolution are worthless
unless I tediously go through and fix them by hand.

[Bug 257818] Re: Totem Fails To Deinterlace

2010-08-14 Thread David Santamaría Rogado
I know, even a totally blockers bugs like in hardy impossibility to make
working apps with ocaml 64 (if you compile an app with the ocaml
included in ubuntu hardy, youru application will crash before running a
little time), in canonical is not considered a important bug, and ocaml
is not part of gnome, and also upstream the new version to the included
in hardy is just the fix to that non important bug.

[Bug 44082] Re: GNOME Panel icons (on right side) move apparently randomly on session start in some situations

2010-08-14 Thread Bashar
I started facing this issue yesterday. I'm using a fully updated Lucid. Since I
started using Lucid I've had issues with icons in the panels not being rendered
properly [See attached screenshot1 and screenshot2]. It happens occasionally on
reboot, maybe once every 4 or 5 restarts.
Since yesterday I started experiencing the shuffled icon prob [Screenshot3]. I
put them back into order but they get shuffled on restart.

[Bug 618035] [NEW] Progress bar control in fullscreen resizes unexpectedly

2010-08-14 Thread Xhacker Liu
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: totem

When playing a video in fullscreen in Totem, if you move the progress
bar that appears at the bottom of the screen (for fast-forwarding or
rewinding the video) it gets shorter. This is especially annoying when
you try to move to somewhere close to the end of the film, as the
control jumps to the very end of the bar.

It seems that the problem is caused by the changement of the text next
to the bar.

#48751 has been fixed, but the bug seems appears again, in both lucid
and maverick.

[Bug 618081] [NEW] Download Screenshot from Link Sent to me?

2010-08-14 Thread Charles Flesfader`
Public bug reported:

Logged in to a User Forum with user name Charles Flesfader'
Answer to Qu sent to me with embedded link to another thread.
Trying to access the link, which contains an important Screenshot.
Forum keeps telling me to log in. I am logged in.
Try to log in again, tells me my username is wrong !!!
Try to recover password which I am sure is correct - written down @ time of
creation Confirming Acct
Try to list my email acct - flez...@yahoo.com.au and it tells me the random
question answer is wrong - ad nauseum !
The first letter of the alphabet was a when I went to school - or A -
tried both, but WRONG ???
Also, when I went to school 1+4= equalled 5. WRONG AGAIN I am told.
Tried once more - asked what colour orange is? Fair dinkum you blokes it
could be any number of things - like a secondary colour, or a form of red. I
tried red yellow but NOT good enough.
For two weeks I have been trying to hook up one lousy USB wireless broadband
modem to my new Ubuntu 10.0.4 installn
Tried three different approaches via forums, and cannot get it to work.
Now, I cannot access this screenshot.
What gives ??? If this is Linux I think it would be easier going back to
windows.
