2010-08-18 Thread Eugene San
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

Rhythmbox lacks DAAP support, while it can be easily enabled by adding
patch
(http://git.gnome.org/browse/rhythmbox/commit/?id=7f57420c53f1fc2d271b05dfa5939665ef61354d)
and adding libdmapsharing-dev dependencies list.

[Bug 175233] Re: Evolution hangs with Formatting Message after several hours

I have never enabled those anti-spam plugins, yet I have the bug.
I guess that it is possible that this bug occurs more often when certain
plugins are enabled, though.

[Bug 433714] Re: initial empathy account wizard does not offer IRC as an account

2010-08-18 Thread nUboon2Age
I think this fix needs to be put into 10.04.1 . As i wrote above, this
is a serious problem for supporting new users and since 10.04 is an LTS
we could be faced with this issue for a long time unless the fix is
added to the LiveCD. I continue to believe this should be raised from
'low' importance to at least medium or high for empathy (Ubuntu).

2010-08-18 Thread Timmy Shih Jun Yee
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 616321 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/616321

Historically, poppler-data couldn't be installed by default when it was
non-free three years ago (see
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evince/+bug/48708/comments/7).
However, recently it's been considered free enough to be in universe
(since Lucid). It's also been recently admitted into the main repository
(see bug 530452), so there's a pretty good chance that Evince can depend
on poppler-data.

(Marking this as a duplicate of bug 616321.)

[Bug 619665] [NEW] [maverick] Panel brightness doesn't change

2010-08-18 Thread Alan Pope
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

After updating Toshiba laptop to latest maverick I can now no longer
change the panel brightness. The notify indicator comes up to show the
slider as I adjust the brightness with the Fn+ function keys but the
brightness doesn't actually change.

a...@hactar:/proc/acpi/video/VGA/LCD$ cat brightness
levels: 10 15 30 40 55 65 80 100
current: 100

In addition testing the brightness panel applet it sticks on 100% and
refuses to let me change it. if I click the brightness applet I get the
pop up slider but if I click anywhere on the slider it disappears and
doesn't change. Scrolling mouse wheel up and down does nothing also. I
don't know if these are related.

[Bug 433714] Re: initial empathy account wizard does not offer IRC as an account

2010-08-18 Thread Jeff Stone
Thing is, this is a GNOME problem, we need them to fix it first. That's
what I'm trying to do, expedite getting a fix.

I get the feeling, both from what Omer says and from looking at the
GNOME bug, that the GNOME people think it's a fair bit of work. If I'm
right in my analysis of the code, it's trivial. Whatever encouragement
we can give to the GNOME people to verify what I found and get a fix out
quick will be best for everyone. Then we figure out if it can be
backported to Lucid.

2010-08-18 Thread bandini
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

I filed this bug using the PID of the clock-applet and ubuntu bug, but I think
the clock-applet only shows a symptom, Here is
a description :

Expected Behaviour :
Clock-applet displays the correct time,

Observed Behaviour :
Displayed time is drifting

How to reproduce :

If I get away from my computer for some times, the time displayed by the
clock applet drifts. But the date command also show the wrong time.
Moreover, sleep interval also get wrong. To debug this, I tested the
following script :

#!/bin/bash
while [[ true ]]
do
date clocktest.log
hwclock clocktest.log
sleep 300
done

Must be run as root because of hwclock.
Il launched it : ./clocktest.sh
and got away from my computer

Line 1 and 2 show the first time through the loop.
Line 3 and 4 show the bug :
while date (and sleep) thinks 5 minutes have elapsed, hwclock shows that 15
minutes have elapsed.

Line 5 to 12 shows normal behaviour, except now date is late by 10 minutes.
Behaviour is normal because I was back at my desk using the computer.

Having clock applet displaying the wrong time is one thing, but having
the whole system time wrong (since sleep gets confused too) is a major
bug.

[Bug 619678] [NEW] removing the sidebar closing button

2010-08-18 Thread CoudCoud
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

There is a cross button displayed on the top right corner of the sidebar.
I've seen many new ubuntu users who have accidentally closed the sidebar by
clicking on this button.
To restore this sidebar you have to go in the view menu, find the option, and
check it again.
The ubuntu beginners I know are not able to restore it.

Couldn't it be replaced by a switch button in the tool bar (to
activate/deactivate it)?

I've quickly made a little mock-up.

would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers
of the software by following the instructions at

[Bug 619729] [NEW] When Nautilus create the preview icon of an xcf file crash

2010-08-18 Thread Nicola Jelmorini
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

In one of my folders I have archived an xcf (GIMP native format) file that
cause a Nautilus crash when I try to open it.
I presume that the crash happens when Nautilus try to create the preview icon
for the file.

Nautilis crash immediately and in the system messages the following
lines are registered:

note: in other folders I have other xcf files that don't cause any
problem. The preview icon is created correctly and nautilus function
well. So far the file I have attached is the only one that cause the
crash.

[Bug 34813] Re: gedit fails to save files over smbfs/cifs

2010-08-18 Thread Id2ndR
It appears that this bug is fix for cifs mount in 2.30 (according to
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=336738#c35).
I still encountered this bug using sshfs with 2.30 (Ubuntu 10.04).

So I'm not sure that the sshfs and cifs/smbfs trouble is the same one
and maybe there should be 2 separate bugs.

I also would like to know if the patch applied in Robie Basak's package can
still be use for gedit 2.30 ?
The patch isn't attached to this bug, so where can I grab it ?

[Bug 421325] [NEW] when monitor enters standby in kde4 (pulse?)audio is interrupted

2010-08-18 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I am using KDE 4.2 in Intrepid.

Whenever the monitor blanks for powersaving, there is a glitch in audio
playback. I hear half a second or so of buzzing, as you get when the
same very short sample of the audio is played back repeatedly. This
occurs with a number of apps, but they are all routed through
pulseaudio. I am using an Intel chipset with Conexant Venice audio.
Obviously audio should not glitch.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which
is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper
developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . I have classified this
bug as a bug in gnome power manager.

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu-
bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this
functionality at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs.

Leo,
Yes, but for that you will need to have bzr-builddeb package installed and then
just type
bzr builddeb -- -us -uc
inside the branch. However, this will generate a deb than can be used ONLY in
maverick.

I am now trying to get this into Lucid through an SRU.

[Bug 175233] Re: Evolution hangs with Formatting Message after several hours

2010-08-18 Thread randomas
I am also affected by this bug. I'm running ubuntu lucid lynx 32 bit.
After I upgraded from karmic I started experiencing the bug. It seemed
to happen while opening mail in local search folders, to fix it I found
that switching to a regular account folder disabling my yahoo pop mail
account and killing evolution from terminal would let me access my mail
again at next startup. I hope the disable picture settings works cause
it's a lot less painful.

I hope this is useful towards fixing the bug, I suggest bumping the
severity of the bug up a notch, not being able to use your mail on a
desktop system built for internet use, with the default application is
bad. Considering that this is an LTS release and this is a severe
regression from karmic it really does need fixing fast.

TIA

Matt

[Bug 421325] Re: when monitor enters standby in kde4 (pulse?)audio is interrupted

2010-08-18 Thread halfbeing
Hello Fabio,

This is Robert Persson with a different ID.

I haven't experienced this problem with Lucid and I didn't, as far as I
can remember, with Karmic.

I hope that makes your life a little easier... :)

[Bug 619799] [NEW] Unable to read inbox in Gmail IMAP - shows numbers but nothing else

I have been trying in vain to set up my Evolution Mail to connect to my

read the email.

There seems to be no way to set the port that is to be used, but I have
appended it to the server as : --

2010-08-18 Thread Hans Harhoff Andersen
Is that true for all contacts when using Jabber or just this one? Maybe it
would be good to put a notice in the call section of empathy?

Well I am now friends with echobot and can see the picture of the badgers.
I have tried calling it and i have tried having it call me with !callme.
When I called it the call window does like before and just says
Connecting indefinetely (though I can see i picture of badgers now). When
I use !callme it says Please wait and then nothing happens.

ubuntu, its the only problem i can find. whenever a window is open all
graphical application -screensaver all have a flashing to them. all
games quit or go out of full screen and i can't use anything and have to
ctrl alt f1 shut down to get around it. everything else but the motion
eye camera works completely. just informing you guys of it, not a big
problem to me since i can use vista for all graphical things. but i
don't like vista and i love ubuntu

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make

is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper

[Bug 618805] Re: rhythmbox crashed with SIGSEGV in g_closure_invoke()

2010-08-18 Thread Pedro Villavicencio
Thank you taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better.
However, processing the crash report to get detailed information for the
developers failed as the retracer did not generate a useful symbolic stack
trace.
Please try to obtain a backtrace manually following the instructions at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash and upload the backtrace (as an
attachment) to the bug report. This will greatly help us in tracking down your
problem.

[Bug 619838] [NEW] not a crash, unable to change input other than via cntl-z

2010-08-18 Thread George Hein
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-games

SUDOKU: ok previous releases, but in this release I am unable to clear
input other than via cntl-z.

Also, not an error, but a recent addition of a YOU WON screen upon
successful completion is an annoyance. I play as I watch an opera
video, this window intrudes under the opera and I cannot cancel it
without moving the opera to get at it to cancel it - meanwhile I cannot
kill the original sudoku without killing this CANDY software which
adds nothing but cpu cycles and window space.

I am a retired programmer of the KISS persuasionl: keep it simple
stupid.
