[Bug 645781] [NEW] Clock is 2 hours behind. After connecting to internet, the correct time is displayed
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-panel Hi, If I login, the clock in my taskbar shows the wrong time: it is two hours behind. [Bug 642746] Re: [Maverick] Workspace layout is 1x9 instead of 3x3
Personally I suspect there may be a wider problem with reading configuration. I see other slightly similar things happening (in Lucid as well): * Sometimes after a reboot my CPU frequency management is delegated to the Performance governor instead of the Ondemand governor that I would normally get. However, changing the setting back manually fixes it. * Sometimes (aspects of) my desktop theme settings just seem to be forgotten. 10 minutes is a bit harsh, though, isn't it? It's definitively not what we shipped earlier; I used to survive the entire day without having to enter my ssh/gpg passphrases over and over again. [Bug 645561] Re: gnome-keyring prompts lack way to set default timeout
Rejecting package and reopening as per discussion with Didier. Forcing everyone to have keys forgotten after 10 minutes makes the entire idea pretty much useless -- your are going to have to enter your key with pretty much every email, upload, or ssh. That's not what we had in earlier releases. I think we should bring back the configurability, not force such a low timeout. ** Changed in: gnome-keyring (Ubuntu) Status: Fix Committed = Triaged -- gnome-keyring prompts lack way to set default timeout https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/645561 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-keyring in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 488048] Re: gdm overrides keyboard layout in no password mode
With two layouts: us intl us altgr-intl I could not get rid of us intl. Everytime I logged in, it reappeared in gnome (System - Perferences - Keyboard). I noticed that .dmrc listed us intl. I have fixed this problem by manually editing .dmrc to the desired layout (algr-intl) and then removing the us intl layout in gnome. Another (related) inconvenience that is not a bug but not beautiful either is that for all using multiple USA layouts (i.e: qwerty/dvorak/deadkeys), all layouts are named similarly in the keyboard indicator. A bit more clever naming would help. Without that I wouldn't care about having many unused layouts. -- gdm overrides keyboard layout in no password mode https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/488048 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 642746] Re: [Maverick] Workspace layout is 1x9 instead of 3x3
The option that seems broken is a combination of Visual Effects: None (using metacity, I guess) and using more than one row of workspaces. I've tried recompiling gnome-panel package without 16_compiz_workspace_switcher.patch and that didn't help (I've also tried compiling without the wnck crasher fixes in patches 90* and 91*, but no luck). [Bug 395922] Re: Please replace the disc with a supported cd or dvd
Hello- I am using Lucid Lynx and am having this same problem in Brasero; 'Please replace the disc with a supported CD or DVD.' I tried a CD-R, DVD-R, then lastly a sealed CD-RW. Is it because they are all -s? I tried to do this command line debug.txt, and typed in exactly what Pedro instructed but it didn't seem to do anything. There was no debug.txt produced. I'm trying to support the FOSS movement but am still learning. It reminds me of the old days in uni (mid 80s) when we were running DOS and I was playing around with dBase 3.1, but I've forgotten so much and obviously it's a lot different too. Is there another program to try to burn an audio iso? Thanks heaps for all your support. I have really expected a certain haughtiness but have found only very helpful and genuine people. Good on ya! I can also confirm this bug in Lucid. LVDS: 1280x800 VGA: 1280x1024 Placing the monitors horizontally gives me a deadzone on LVDS because of the difference in resolution (see https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libxrandr/+bug/373367). [Bug 645561] Re: gnome-keyring prompts lack way to set default timeout
Here's what I propose: In Lucid and earlier, the gpg agent was handled by the seahorse- plugins package which contains a GUI for setting the GPG timeout preferences. Since the newfangled gpg agent support in gnome-keyring 2.31.91 doesn't contain settable preferences, I suggest we disable it by removing the /etc/xdg/autostart/gnome-keyring-gpg.desktop file. This way, the gpg agent will continue to be handled by seahorse-plugins as before, until the next release when we update gnome-keyring. -- gnome-keyring prompts lack way to set default timeout https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/645561 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-keyring in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 481797] Re: Gdm displays the full name of the user rather than the username
This is a fairly big problem for me, as I've two accounts setup with the same full name, but different user names -- one for personal stuff, one for work. Upgrading to maverick made it impossible to tell which was which. Also, I think it's potentially a big problem in organisations that have two people with a common name, say John Smith. It's a sane default to only show the full name, but there should be an option to display the username in parenthesis like Lucid did. Or ideally in a prettier way, underneath the full name, say. -- Gdm displays the full name of the user rather than the username https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/481797 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
