Empathy hasn't been working on msn for me for the past couple of months I think.
Here's what happens. I start empathy. Initially it says 'offline'. It tries to
connect, showing the connection animation at the top of the contact list
window. Then the animation disappears, then it says 'available'.
Specifically this bug affected me when I resumed from hibernation. At
least I could still un-lock and continuing using the restored session.

Based on Harrison W Hollingsworth's comment i mannaged to find a
workaround aswell.
First of all, in order to find the id of the flash window, we need to
run the following command from a terminal window:
sleep 5 && xwininfo
this will lunch xwininfo after five seconds - in those five seconds play
