[Bug 674377] [NEW] After adjusting Vinagre settings, processor activity is abnormal. Extremely high- Does not fix until after reboot

2010-11-11 Thread Robbie Bussard
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: vinagre

When I open the Remote Desktop settings under System>Preferences, I will
adjust the settings concerning my machine. No matter what is clicked or
adjusted, my processor's activity maxes out until I reboot. No matter
what programs I am running (even if I have stopped all extraneous
processes), the processors in my machine will continue to run at a high
rate until I reboot the computer.

[Bug 504771] Re: [empathy] the font and the font size cannot be changed

2010-11-11 Thread ChenXing
This is a critical problem for me to move to Empathy. Especially for
Chinese characters, as a Chinese character conveys much more information
than two letters, it is normally larger for people to read it. The
default font size is really too small.

BTW, I think end-users should have the rights to change the font size.

[Bug 674371] [NEW] Cpu stays at 100% after closing totem

2010-11-11 Thread needlez6
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: totem

My bug is similar to that of bug #48165, in the fact that totem eats up
100% of my cpu causing my computer to over heat. The issue is that when
i close totem completely. It still eats up 100% even after being closed
for like 10 minutes. The only thing I can do to stop this is to restart
the machine after stopping totem. This is very bothersome because I
don't like having to restart every time I would like to watch a
movie.Other then the information that I gave I can't really say much
else because this error is after totem is closed so I have no terminal
error message.

Yes, confirm this very likely is a duplicate of Bug #661724. Adding
Maverick-proposed and updating to libcairo2 1.10.0-1ubuntu3 seems to fix
this issue for me.

Instructions on adding the Maverick-proposed repository can be found

[Bug 662642] Re: the search function doesn`t work correctly

2010-11-11 Thread slayerdme
I have the same issue on Maverick. However, the new behavior is more complex
than previous versions.
Instead of always matching (or searching, or whatever it is called) by the
tile, it is now searching in whatever column the list is sorted by. Valentin,
since you were sorting by album, it was matching in the album column. If you
sort by title, it will work as before.

I wish we had an option to pick in which column it would match.

*What I expected to happen*
I start rhythmbox then I select the last.fm icon, the list of stations is
retrieved, then I double-click on one of the stations to start playing. I
expect that a song list is received and the one on the top is reproduced

*What happened instead*
The list is retrieved twice. This only happens with the first estation, with
the following stations everithing works fine.

I include a screenshot of the application. As you can see the 5th and
6th (4th and 7th, 3rd and 8th, etc...) songs are equals.

[Bug 546578] Re: black screen after a few user switches

2010-11-11 Thread PAB
I am a victim of this bug since version 10.04. I've been using Ubuntu
since 2006 and it's the first time that a bug last this long and is so
annoying.

I have a full updated 10.10-64 bit Ubuntu version and the bug is still
affecting me. I can almost tell when the crash will arrive.

The only thing that works when the bug arrives is Alt+PrintSc+S+U+B.
Alt+F1 or Alt+F7 or any other combination does not do anything.

We are four on the same family computer. I run a lot of image processing
and I never know when my process will crash just because on of my child
only wants to chat with someone in there account.

I'm almost at the point were I would like to test some other
distribution or even go back to Windows.

I really like Ubuntu and since 2006 I'm a passionate user but this one

[Bug 442130] Re: Custom fstab causes duplicate entries for partitions in Places

2010-11-11 Thread Ian Eldred
I had this bug after I set up auto mounting of my NTFS drives. I fixed
it by editing /etc/fstab as shown below:

#UUID=24482A274829F866 /media/General ntfs-3g
rw,auto,user,fmask=0111,dmask= 0 0
/dev/disk/by-uuid/24482A274829F866 /media/General ntfs-3g
rw,auto,user,fmask=0111,dmask= 0 0
#UUID=0064339B64339280 /media/Photos ntfs-3g
rw,auto,user,fmask=0111,dmask= 0 0
/dev/disk/by-uuid/0064339B64339280 /media/Photos ntfs-3g
rw,auto,user,fmask=0111,dmask= 0 0
#UUID=C4747EFD747EF192 /media/Video ntfs-3g
rw,auto,user,fmask=0111,dmask= 0 0
/dev/disk/by-uuid/C4747EFD747EF192 /media/Video ntfs-3g
rw,auto,user,fmask=0111,dmask= 0 0

The original lines have been commented out with #.

So the fix was simply replacing 'UUID=' with '/dev/disk/by-uuid/' on
each line as suggested by Andras Muranyi in #22.

[Bug 674298] Re: Hibernation warning sometimes hidden

2010-11-11 Thread valkyr
Thinking about it, the reason I noticed the pop-up was there before the
system hibernated was because I was clicking back and forth on different
windows anyway at the time, meaning the power warning may have popped up
just as I clicked another window, hiding it without me noticing.

If it's that easy to do such a thing though, then maybe the warning
dialog should be a modal window?

[Bug 674063] [NEW] OAFIID:GNOME_FastUserSwitchApplet on OMAP

2010-11-11 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

just downloaded 10.10 for ARM OMAP3
(ubuntu-netbook-10.10-preinstalled-netbook-armel+omap.img.gz, source of
download was
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-netbook/ports/releases/10.10/release/ubuntu-netbook-10.10-preinstalled-netbook-armel+omap.img.gz).
That is to run on the Beagleboard (a TI OMAP Cortex processor on a 3 x 3 inch
printed circuit).

The message "OAFIID:GNOME_FastUserSwitchApplet" popped up, asking if I want to
"delete" or "Don't delete" (default). I chose to delete, which doesn't seem to
impact adversly.

Nevertheless, as a low priority and low importance bug, I report this.

So far, I have no need to get this fixed, the install of Ubuntu on the
Beagleboard went as described and far, far easier than I expected. Thank you.

2010-11-11 Thread Tim Xiao
I also ran into this problem. It was caused by bad permissions on /tmp,
which somehow survived a reboot. chown root:root /tmp && chmod 777 /tmp
fixed it. Ideally, the system shouldn't be throwing such an obscure
error message, and the sanity check script shouldn't be silent (or
return 0) when ran a second time.

So upstream has marked the bug as obsolete, since GNOME 3 has dropped

is Ubuntu also dropping gnome-appearance-properties with the move to
unity? Either way, I'm sure Debian would be interested in this bug,
since they have a strict "no missing man pages policy."

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu

1. Is this reproducible?

[Bug 673760] Re: Rhythmbox crashes with Wacom tablet attached

2010-11-11 Thread Pedro Villavicencio
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or
challenging to deal with as a ".crash" file. Please follow these
instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can
be dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable
apport in /etc/default/apport and restart.

If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus
and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report
you wish to submit.
If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using
/usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a
terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report.

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more
efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

[Bug 674100] Re: EVOLUTION MAIL FILTERS AND RULES APP DOES NOT SEEM TO WORK

2010-11-11 Thread Pedro Villavicencio
Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Examining the information you have given us, this does
not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to
a question in the support tracker. We appreciate the difficulties you
are facing, but it would make more sense to raise problems you are
having in the support tracker at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if
you are uncertain if they are bugs. For help on reporting bugs, see

[Bug 621633] Re: Keyboard indicator does not update the current layout in its menu when switching through a keyboard shortcut

2010-11-11 Thread David Planella
In order for this not to fall off the radar, I think it might be useful
to either mark it as a duplicate of the existing libindicator bug if
there is any, or to add a libindicator task.

In my case, the bug is only partly solved: most of the time switching
works well, but in some occasions I can still reproduce it with the same
test case as on the original description.

Actually, I've just found another way of reproducing it: hold the key
assigned to the keyboard switch for a couple of seconds, so that the
indicator switches frantically between layouts for a while. After that,
the panel indicator and the menu entry in the indicator will be out of
sync.

[Bug 674105] Re: evolution randomly crashes during retrieval of a messsage that matches a filter

[Bug 633292] Re: Lights Off game doesn't work correctly

2010-11-11 Thread Sean Fitzpatrick
The problems with online games I would think are unrelated. I've found
in the past (before Sun released a 64-bit java plugin) that the open
source Iced Tea java plugin handles 95% of applets just fine, but there
were a handful of specialised applets that wouldn't work. Check to see
if you have sun-java6-plugin installed - I think Iced Tea might be the
default (apologies if I'm totally wrong about this). Sun's java plugin
should handle any java games (it's what's used on windows if I remember
correctly).

Ideally if there is a + button, when there is only one tab it should be
