[Bug 682269] [NEW] clock applet does not support certain obvious locations
You have been subscribed to a public bug: 1. Running Mint 10 32-bit GNOME edition. 2. The clock applet does not have Fiji (neither it's capital Suva, nor it's international airport town, Nadi) available in their locations list. This means that the timezone, weather and other information is not usable for a user in Fiji. Although Fiji is a small obscure country, even smaller countries and territories such as Western Samoa are represented on this list. If someone could just point me in the direction of the providers of this service, I could contact them, or if it's some kind of editable list, I could manually add them myself. This has been unavailable for several releases now, but I guess now the release is so good, a minor bug like this becomes very noticeable. - A Fiji resident who who would like weather updates in his gnome applet. ** Affects: alarm-clock Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: linuxmint Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: gnome-panel (Ubuntu) Importance: Wishlist Status: Triaged ** Tags: applet clock gnome weather -- clock applet does not support certain obvious locations https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/682269 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-panel in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 507788] Re: In Help, Table of Contents switches from left to right when user selects topic
Users go to help for two reasons: (1) they're confused about something, or (2) they're trying to find something. https://www.uie.com/articles/online_information/ In both cases, what they need is *one* particular page. Once they're done, they'll close the window. If they end up in the wrong topic, that's probably a problem with bad information scent. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Information_foraging#Information_scent If the help author foresees this problem but can't avoid it, they should include links at the bottom of that topic to the individual pages users may want instead. (For example, in Ubuntu Software Center's help, at the bottom of the Removing software topic, I link to the Why is it asking me to remove several programs together? topic.) Otherwise, there's a simple way to get back to the table of contents: click the Back button. That's why I suggest getting rid of the table of contents from topic pages. -- In Help, Table of Contents switches from left to right when user selects topic https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/507788 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to yelp in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 88090] Re: [apport] evolution crashed with SIGSEGV in ect_check()
this bug is fixed in evolution 2.32 from evolution developers After seeing no less than five crash reports about this in one week, I have fixed the crash by removing accessibility support for the ECellText class in 2.32 and 2.91. If ever we get someone to update our accessibility code then we can bring this back and let him/her try and debug the crash. [Bug 629257] Re: indicator applet 0.4.6: Laptop battery (estimating...) for days on end when discharge/charge time not known
** Description changed: The drop-down menu for the indicator-applet battery icon menu says Laptop battery (estimating...) At a minimum this be fixed to read Laptop batter (estimating time...) or Laptop battery (estimating battery life...). Ideally if the remaining battery *time* is not known (because less than sufficient datapoints have been collected to enable estimation) then the percentage should be displayed in-lieu. The percentage is already available and is used to drive the indicator-applet icon itself. The current implementation is specified by: - https://wiki.ubuntu.com/BatteryStatusMenu#Items + https://wiki.ubuntu.com/BatteryStatusMenu#Items but because the estimating... text can exist for days-on-end (nearly a week in the case of this computer) it probably needs a slight tweak or design addition to take account of the time estimation not being available for long periods of time. + + See bug #629258 for previous (lukewarm) discussions on the lower-stack + issues. This two bugs might want re-splitting/sorting again based on + those that relate to the chrono estimate not being known, and those that + relate to the pointless display of that unknown data for long periods of + time. -- indicator applet 0.4.6: Laptop battery (estimating...) for days on end when discharge/charge time not known https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/629257 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a subscriber of a duplicate bug (38795). -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Everyone who has still problems, do the following: 1. Attach the file which does not print. 2. Convert the captured print data to PostScript with the pdftops command. 4. Tell us the size of the original file, the captured print data, and the resulting PostScript file. 5. Attach all files. Do not hesitate to attach big files. Attach the files one by one, do not package them together and do not compress them. Only if the resulting PostScript file is so big that it takes you hours or days to upload, do not upload it. 6. Dominik, can you please specify what problem this 'hard highlighting' causes? As pre my comment above, I do not see this as a problem that needs fixed so I feel inclined to mark it as invalid, for both the Papercuts project and Evince. -- Putting the mouse over an document for example illuminates the document - but too hard https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/626724 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evince in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 682508] [NEW] SD format operation crashes if volume label is more than 11 characters long
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-disk-utility I did a format on a 2GB SD card by right clicking on the SD card icon and selecting format, under FAT windows/linux compatible file system settings. It then asks you what you'd like the volume label to be - if you type in anything over 11 characters, the process then errors out - but with an error message which does not hint to the user that the real problem is their length volume label. A good fix may be to limit the label max length on the input field, or to give a more helpful error message. [Bug 319575] Re: multiload-applet + sshfs breaks suspend
I assume this is the same core problem: if an sshfs mount's remote machine becomes unavailable, the system monitor applet will freeze and remain in uninterruptible sleep forever. -- multiload-applet + sshfs breaks suspend https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/319575 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 626724] Re: Putting the mouse over an document for example illuminates the document - but too hard
Speculating, but I wonder if this is because Evince currently renders completely new text on a solid background over the top of the document, rather than highlighting the text that was already drawn in the document; eg. the highlight does not exactly match the shape/size of the original document text and neither can the original text be seen underneath when the highlight is active. -- Putting the mouse over an document for example illuminates the document - but too hard https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/626724 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evince in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
