[Bug 80780] Re: uses unusual units to report memory and disk sizes
I realize that this bug report is, according to the title, only about memory and disk sizes, but comment #19 above mentions that network throughput uses KB/s (in the tooltip) and I would like to point out that this is indeed contrary to Ubuntu policy and the bug still exists in Ubuntu 10.10. According to Ubuntu policy (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UnitsPolicy), kilobytes should be symbolized kB. I was about to make this comment at #366235, since that began as a report about incorrect network speed (throughput) units, but the latter has been assigned to gnome-bugs #580471 where the discussion has sidetracked into the question of whether the average user prefers to see throughput measurements in bits or bytes, and into other questions. Perhaps the decision whether to report bits or bytes can be left to upstream; but let Ubuntu make sure that the symbols used always follow Ubuntu standards. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/80780 Title: uses unusual units to report memory and disk sizes -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 662794] Re: Evolution crash on large IMAP move
I tracked this issue down to some faulty failover logic that triggered on high load on the multi-homed connection I am using. The failover was seemingly transparent for short transactions, but as the public IP changed during this large IMAP activity, the result was a crash. It may have failed over and back to cause the crash, but since the failover logic was corrected, and is no longer repeatable due to the impact to this particular environment, I will not be able repeat. I noticed this myself when switching to unity, the left column of desktop icons got hidden. They were originally layed out automatically, then I moved some of them around a little. Now I manually moved them all a step to the right, but of course that requires getting rid of the launcher first; I used gconf-editor to enable autohiding, but now it appears again on an empty desktop. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/684649 Title: Nautilus desktop icons should never be under the launcher -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

ok, seems indeed that the default left margin is not enough to be out of the launcher space, maybe we should just set the value so they don't get under the launcher without blocking manual placement, that should be enough for most cases and much easier than trying to block users screen space from manual placements done by users -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/684649 Title: Nautilus desktop icons should never be under the launcher -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 697756] [NEW] iPod and iPhone movies are played with incorrect orientation
Public bug reported: Movies made with iPods and iPhones are encoded with orientation information, because users hold them in arbitrary positions when recording movies (they are meant to, there is no right way to hold an iDevice, apparently. Unless you are making a call on an iPhone 4). At the moment I see upside-down and sideways movies sent from iPhones and iPods. If you hold the device on its side while recording a movie, playback should recognise this and have gravity in the recording represented in the most sensible representation on the display device (in most fixed monitors I guess this is positive on the Y axis, if (0,0) is on the top left). I.e. match gravity in the recording to gravity on playback.
