[Bug 753221] [NEW] request for clarification: ounce

2011-04-07 Thread Redmar
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gcalctool

gcalctool has some strings relating to ounce. However, it does not
specify in comments or in the strings itself whether these ounces are
fluid ounces, force ounces or weight. (Found those different ones on
wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ounce_%28disambiguation%29)

As of now those strings are untranslated, once I know which ounce this
refers to I will translate it. It would be great if a comment could be
added to those strings so that other translators will know what kind of
ounce is meant.

Thanks!

[Bug 736349] Re: Test speakers is silent

2011-04-07 Thread David Henningsson
Ok, thanks for uploading.
It seems like with the gnome-media patch only we're back to Maverick's behavior
of playing bell.ogg, the very minor thug or bong sound of 0.2 seconds. (Can
you confirm?)
Which means that I should file a separate bug for having a too short sound in
the speaker test.

[Bug 751610] Re: Listen to Music shortcut loads Totem and not Banshee

2011-04-07 Thread Iain Lane
I don't know if we can handle the case of users who have manually set
the key to banshee-1 themselves: the GConf defaults provide system
defaults that users can override if they wish. On my system (which has
used the default):

laney@chicken gconftool-2 --get /desktop/gnome/applications/media/exec
banshee

as per-user GConf settings are stored in the home directory, I don't see
how we can fix this for them nicely.

We've pinged upstream for a solution, and one grubby idea I have is for
banshee to supply a 'banshee-1.desktop' file with NoDisplay=true that
should still work for users that have set banshee-1 as their handler.

album by Suzanne Vega, so I went to Suzanne Vega then Tried an Blue
... but there is songs missing !!! Cause on some song the artist name is
Suzanne Vega ft ... (but the Album Artist is only Suzanne Vega)

So an Album Artist feature would be great !!! , please,

Thanks.

[Bug 633125] Re: syndaemon polls 5 times a second

2011-04-07 Thread Rodrigo Moya
Sergey, I was going to push this to gnome-settings-daemon upstream, but
since that should work on all distributions/versions of syncdaemon, can
someone please confirm that the -R is harmless if syndaemon is not
compiled with the XRecord extension?

For natty, the attached branch fixes it

[Bug 486154] Re: System beep broken in Karmic despite heroic efforts to fix it

2011-04-07 Thread Thomas Hood
To re-enable the terminal bell on my ThinkPad X61 running Ubuntu 10.10 I took
the following actions suggested above:
* Un-blacklist pcspkr as described above, then either reboot or modprobe
pcspkr.
* On the terminal window, tick Edit | Profile Preferences | General |
Terminal bell
* Run gconf-editor and at apps | metacity | general tick audible_bell.
* Run gconf-editor and at desktop | gnome | peripherals | keyboard change
bell_mode from off to on.
* Use the alsamixer program to unmute and raise Beep volume to a suitably
high level.
* Do pactl upload-sample /usr/share/sounds/ubuntu/stereo/bell.ogg bell.ogg

Many thanks to the contributors to this bug report!

triggering when you get the issue? could you add your .xsession-errors
to the bug?

[Bug 753498] Re: nautilus closes after moving files in Extra pane view (F3)

2011-04-07 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal
with as a '.crash' file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report
a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport
in /etc/default/apport and restart.

If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus
and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report
you wish to submit.

If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using
/usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a
terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report.
I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently.
Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

[Bug 577545] Re: gconf-sanity-check-2 exited with status 256 on log in

2011-04-07 Thread Brian Ssennoga
Nice People,

I have had this problem for a month or so, so please forgive my
frustration n exasperation if it shows up in my posts:

System: Ubuntu 10.04.1 Server, on Dell Optiplex330. Webmin+Squid+ an
apt-mirror.

I have tried the following and still failed:
1. chmod 1777 /tmp (and its variants) - i notice, there is an orbit-gdm that is
owned by gdm:gdm.
2. shorter password
3. reinstalling gdm
4. large amounts of sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get upgrade followed by
sudo reboot
5. have also tried:

[I]proxyadmin@proxy:~$ /usr/lib/libconf-2-4/gconf-sanity-check-2
-bash: /usr/lib/libconf-2-4/gconf-sanity-check-2: No such file or directory
proxyadmin@proxy:~$ /usr/lib/libconf2-4/gconf-sanity-check-2
-bash: /usr/lib/libconf2-4/gconf-sanity-check-2: No such file or directory[/I]

 and its intended solution:
[I]sudo mkdir -p /usr/local/etc/gconf/gconf.xml.defaults[/I]

This server (squid + mirror) is hosting crucial services and i really
need to get it working. I need anyone who can wrap their head around
this to help. Am attaching what necessary files -

please skype me (bssennoga) and also, help me understand if there is
anything like: 10.04 Server 64-bit LiveCD!!! and where to get it.

stranded frustrated, but ready to learn.

[Bug 733253] Re: gnome-settings-daemon freezes, desktop theming disappears

2011-04-07 Thread Jan Rathmann
Hello Sebastien,

it indeed doesn't crash in the sense that Apport is triggered. g-s-d
seems to get somehow into a completely unresponsive state, meaning you
can't terminate it with anything but kill -9 . It seems to consume no
CPU time, so g-s-d is obviously not running in a loop.

I did some further testing with g-s-d when it was properly running that showed
interesting behaviour. If I sended a SIGTERM (normal kill) to g-s-d, the
custom desktop theming disappeared instantly, like one would expect when g-s-d
has been terminated.
But looking at the running processes showed that the same g-s-d process was
still there, allthough now in an unresponsive state (like it happens if I just
start a desktop session on my virtual machine)! Doing kill -9 helps of course
to terminate it completely.

I tested this both on my virtual machine when I had restarted g-s-d
manually and also on my Maverick desktop running on real hardware (where
never any problem with g-s-d has occured).

As a conclusion, could it be possible that the following happens: While
the desktop session is loading, g-s-d receives (for an unknown reason) a
SIGTERM and remains in an unresponsive state untill one kills it with
kill -9 (and manually restarts it).

Is there any way I can help with debugging such an issue?

Anyway, here is my .xsession-errors file (beware, it inflates to
73MB!).

Kind regards,
Jan

[Bug 753667] [NEW] Evolution is unusable since update

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Since an update to Natty Evolution is unusable. When I try to start it,
it askes for one of my email-passwords. I can't type into the box. If I
just close it the interface of Evolution freezes. I can click on what I
want - nothing happens. I can use the menu but if I am trying to open
the preferences just a blank window is opening.

[Bug 753692] [NEW] gnome-games lintian warnings: symlink-should-be-relative

2011-04-07 Thread Jamie Strandboge
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-games

The gnome-games debs have a ton of lintian warnings like the following:
W: glines: symlink-should-be-relative
usr/share/gnome/help/glines/ca/figures/glines-gameover.png
/usr/share/gnome/help-langpack/glines/ca/figures/glines-gameover.png

This makes it hard to perform binary deNEW. It would be nice if these

I see this bug listed in One Hundred Paper Cuts nt5-office Evolution ,

be open for this development branch?
