[Bug 775352] [NEW] 'Recent Conversation' window expands to the right without stopping

2011-05-02 Thread Mike Beach
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: empathy

When selecting a contact from the contact list, right-clicking, and
clicking 'Recent conversation' (or doing the same from a private message
window), the recent conversation window appears and then begins
expanding to the right, off the screen.

The top, left, and bottom parts of the window stay in place. Maximizing
the window does bring it under control, but un-maximizing it causes it
to start again. It will expand past the edge of the screen and beyond.

This *may* be related to the word-wrap issue on bug #433651 but further
testing would be needed to confirm.

Re: [Bug 250540] Re: gedit cannot save to sftp location

2011-05-02 Thread ismo
Just close the bug, looks like working now

2011/5/2 Sebastian Carneiro scarne...@speedy.com.ar

 Looking at the upstream bug, it appears that this is really a bug in
 package gvfs.

 Looking at the change made upstream on that package, and comparing with
 the package gvfs that was released with natty, it appears that this
 change has already been made.

 Beside that, I repeat the steps outlined to reproduce the bug, and gedit
 no longer have this problem, it allows me to save files in directories
 owned by root, and also when the owner of the file is another user.

 But should be done to close this bug? Can anyone confirm if it has been
 fixed.

 Best regards.

 Status in Light-Weight Text Editor for Gnome:

  When using gedit to edit files remotely it wont always let me save my
  file again depending on the permissions on the parent directory.

  Example:

  Log into a remote machine.
  Create a file called test1 in my home directory.
  Create a file called test2 in /var/www
  The directory /var/www is owned by root.
  Make sure that both files are locally editable.
  Log out of the remote machine.
  Open Gedit and open the 2 files.
  Now the file test1 can be edited without a problem
  But the file test2 cannot, I get the error: Could not save the file
 sftp://server/var/www/test2. You do not have the permissions necessary to
 save the file. Please check that you typed the location correctly and try
 again.

  I suspect that Gedit wants to create a new file in the directories, delete
 the old one and then move the new file to the old location.
  Since /var/www isn't writeable by me it wont let me save the file test2.

  I expected to be able to edit both files via Gedit.

[Bug 775387] [NEW] Invest-applet fails to start after upgrade to Natty

2011-05-02 Thread Toby Corkindale
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-applets

Bug occurred immediately after upgrade from Maverick to Natty.
(I am now using the Ubuntu Classic desktop, to retain Gnome stuff)

gnome-applets version: 2.32.1.1-0ubuntu5

I expected the Invest applet to be visible in my Gnome toolbar after the
upgrade; however although other applets are present (system monitor, weather,
etc) I cannot see the Invest icon.
Attempting to add it back does not give any errors messages, however it does
not appear.

Attempting to run the applet from the command line produces the
following output:

tobyc@adonai:~$ /usr/lib/gnome-applets/invest-applet -d
2011-05-02 17:18:52.192521: Debugging enabled
2011-05-02 17:18:52.192570: Data Dir: /usr/share/gnome-applets/invest-applet
2011-05-02 17:18:52.192585: Detected PROXY: None

A ps command shows that the applet is now running - however it still does not
appear anywhere in my visible toolbars.
Killing and restarting the applet also does not help. Ditto for rebooting.

Any way I can help debug this?

I was using a Natty beta in a Virtualbox.
I have another Natty (final version) in a real machine and the problem
in Evolution has disappeared.

[Bug 771633] Re: [Natty] Realtek ALC888 0x10ec0888 - mic not functional

2011-05-02 Thread Lucio M Nicolosi
David,

Tried your modified nvidia.conf from bug 771739. Restarted the system
and noticed options (internal mic, front mic, rear mic) previously
available at Maverick are back. Tested Sound Recorder with each one,
switching options on Sound Preferences and opening Sound Recorder at
each time. Noticed, as expected, that internal or front mic don't work
since it is a desktop and the mic connector is at the back. If set to
rear mic some sound can be heard. Moved the input and output volume
controls up and down and couldn't find a way to obtain a decent capture,
just a lot of white noise and a distant whisper. Noticed however that
increasing the output volume leads easily to saturation, in a way much
different of the 10.10 behavior. Even the default output sound at
startup sounds cracked, It seems that I'm not facing bug 771739 only.
My tests with alsamixer showed similar results.

Are these codecs much different? Is there a way to load Maverick's alsa
driver into Natty? Although the volume levels at Maverick are modest (no
amplified speakers), alsa works perfectly on this very hardware.

Maverick: snd_hda_codec_nvhdmi NVIDIA HDMI HD-audio codec
Natty:   snd_hda_codec_hdmi   HDMI HD-audio codec

Sorry for the Dutch. your translation is ok if sluggishly means like a slug
well that is what's happening to the game. It is also responding slow on my
keyboard. Not playable anymore.

VBIOS Version 05.43.02.46.C3
memory: 256 Mb
Mem. interface: 128-bit

The other games Mahjong, Gweled and race Torcs are doing fine. So I
think although my card is old it's working fine except in Nibbles.

[Bug 735393] Re: GNOME bars theme lost

2011-05-02 Thread Rocko
I get this in unity in a fresh installation of natty under VirtualBox.
Ambiance loads and stays working for about five seconds, and then the
theme half-resets to what looks like Clearlooks. The title bars remain
as Ambiance. If I run the appearance manager, it thinks I have a custom
theme setting; if I change it to Ambiance, it makes no difference, and
when I next run the appearance manager it thinks again that I have a
custom theme set.

The only extra applications I installed were virtualbox-ose-guest-x11,
-utils, -dkms, and the dkms package (which are required for 3d support
to get unity working).

[Bug 747796] Re: Turkish issue: gnome-language-selector crashes after a fresh install

2011-05-02 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
Wonder if there is a really good solution to this problem. The root cause is
that the Turkish locales map two ASCII characters to non-ASCII characters with
respect to case conversion:
I (capital I)   is mapped to ı (lowercase i-dotless)
i (lowercase i) is mapped to İ (capital I-dotted)

I played with an alternative Turkish locale (diff below), and it proved
to work as well as the l-s workaround I propose. Guess the issue has
been discussed many times, and it would be interesting to hear some
Turkish voices on this. Have a feeling that programmers will keep
overlooking this special case and with that cause troubles for Turkish
computer users.

Still looking forward to know about your conclusion regards pygobject.

[Bug 769979] Re: Dash doesn't know Evince, Eog and probably others

2011-05-02 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package eog - 3.0.0-1ubuntu1

---
eog (3.0.0-1ubuntu1) oneiric; urgency=low

  * Resynchronize on Debian, based on the gnome3-team ppa work, thanks to
Rico Tzschichholz, Rodrigo Moya and Robert Ancell
  * Drop the gir binary since Debian decided to ship it as private with eog
  * Drop the python build tweaks those don't apply to the new version
  * Remaing diff:
  * debian/control.in:
- Build-Depends on dh-autoreconf and liblaunchpad-integration-3.0-dev
- Conflicts on gir1.2-eog-3.0 for those upgrading from the ppa version
  * debian/eog.gschema.override:
- define the default editor to shotwell
  * debian/eog.install:
- install the gsettings schemas override
  * debian/eog-dev.install:
- install the documentation
  * debian/patches/01_nodisplay.patch:
- dropped, it was useful to simplify the gnome menus but is stop the
  users to find eog in unity or gnome-shell nowadays. (lp: #769979)
  * debian/patches/01_lpi.patch,
- launchpad integration changes
  * debian/rules
- use dh-autoreconf

eog (3.0.0-1) experimental; urgency=low

  * Make the -dev package depend on the gir package.
  * New upstream release.
  * Update build-dependencies.
  * Put the gir in the eog package, since it’s in a private directory.
  * Break eog-plugins  2.91.
  * Pass arguments to dh_girepository in a more canonical way.

eog (2.91.92-1) experimental; urgency=low

  * New upstream release.
  * debian/control.in: added missing dependency on gsettings-desktop-schemas.

eog (2.91.91-4) experimental; urgency=low

  * debian/control.in: add build-dep on a recent version of libatk1.0-dev to
make sure the necessary gobject introspection files get installed.

eog (2.91.91-3) experimental; urgency=low

  * debian/rules: get gir dependencies using file from debian/tmp/.

eog (2.91.91-2) experimental; urgency=low

  * debian/eog.install: install eog.convert, for porting configuration from
gconf to gsettings.
  * debian/rules: fix removal of gir file from eog package.
  * debian/rules: fix generation of gir:Depends, looking for files in their
private directories.

eog (2.91.91-1) experimental; urgency=low

  * New upstream development release.
+ Update debian/control.in for new dependencies.
+ Create a gir1.2-eog-3.0 package.
+ Make eog depends on gir1.2-eog-3.0 as it is required for plugins.

[Bug 775153] Re: gnome-panel segfaults after upgrade to Ubuntu 11.04

2011-05-02 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal
with as a '.crash' file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report
a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer.

 If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport
in /etc/default/apport and restart.

 If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus
and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report
you wish to submit.

 If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using
/usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a
terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report.
 I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently.
Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

[Bug 775461] Re: Cannot get working directory

2011-05-02 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. Unfortunately, we can't fix it because your description didn't include
enough information. You may find it helpful to read How to report bugs
effectively http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be
grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.
We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures.
At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport, either via the
appropriate application's Help - Report a Problem menu or using
'ubuntu-bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more
about this functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

[Bug 774712] Re: evolution won't mark mail as read, crashes sometimes when manually marked as read

Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

patch debian/patches/92_git_calendar_day.patch is wrong, because it
passes the month retrieved with gtk_calendar_get_date as it is to
Evolution, but the month returned by gtk_calendar_get_date is between 0
and 11 (http://developer.gnome.org/gtk3/stable/GtkCalendar.html#gtk-
