[Bug 762918] Re: Natty Screensaver freezes system after some period of inactivity
Same basic problem, but found a potential shoddy workaround: -Natty, Helios screensaver, 945GM/GMS/GME + 943/940GML Express IG Controller, EeePC 900HA Netbook... When the screen locks up, I have used the VGA port to sometimes get the display back. 1. Plug-in a VGA cable (I have one hooked up to a TV anyhow) 2. Use the built-in (or pre-configure) hotkeys (for me Fn+F5) to cycle through the multiple monitor modes -wait a few secs each time Hopefully something will reappear. In my case I have had: -parts of the screen reappear (enough to right click a launcher in, terminal etc.) -parts of the screen come back with other parts reappearing when spawned (eg. click gnome menu, parts unfold clearing screen) -the whole screen comes back -both screens come back If this doesn't work, try taking the VGA cord out and recycling through the modes again. S-video/HDMI might work as well. It might be worthwhile to write a refresh script you can get to with a keyboard shortcut or alias you can put in a terminal. That way you won't even need visual output to get you started. Still no solution. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-screensaver in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/762918 Title: Natty Screensaver freezes system after some period of inactivity -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 762187] Re: recurring 10 min invalid query dialog box from google contact sync
Following this tracker for a while, I know have found a solution that works for me. I found the problem using the libgdata debug described above, but with Evolution 3 and libgdata 0.8.1. Thus, Evolution it put a more conclusive error message which led me to this: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=648058 Maybe that's also your problem. As described there, you could either wait for libgdata 0.8.2 being released. As a workaround, you could instead delete or label all user-defined fields in your Google contacts. I did not know which of my contacts have such fields, and using the Google web interface to find it out is obviously very inconvenient. Instead, I started libgdata in debug mode (see above), wrote stdout to a logfile and searched this file for the term user. With this method, I quickly found all the contacts containing user-defined fields and deleted those fields (if unlabeled). After that, syncing works well again (also with Evo 2.32 and libgdata 0.8.0 as installed with Natty). ** Bug watch added: GNOME Bug Tracker #648058 https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=648058 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evolution in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/762187 Title: recurring 10 min invalid query dialog box from google contact sync -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 645695] Re: Gedit 2.30.3 does not highlight the first spelling error found. Subsequent spelling errors are highlighted correctly.
As an alternattive solution to the problem, perhaps it would be a better idea to implement the Mozilla Thunderbird Spell Checker. To me it has an easier to use interface and does a better job of suggesting possible alternative spelling possibilities. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gedit in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/645695 Title: Gedit 2.30.3 does not highlight the first spelling error found. Bug transferred to Gnome Bugzilla, bug 650829 on 5/22/2011. Unfortunately, even though i created this bug, i apparently cannot close it, but it should be closed. [Bug 562674] Re: nautilus Large file copy timed out
I am experiencing the same problem in lucid. Nautilus v. 2.30.1. All systems up to date. While writing a file to my NAS with Nautilus over smb/cifs, iftop shows the connection start to degrade until it times out. I just tried a test file to an empty folder on the NAS like Calvin and I have a much faster write speed and no time out. This behavior only happens when I write to the share from my computer. I can read without problem. I can copy from one share drive on the NAS to another drive also on the NAS without issue. In all cases, I sometimes have the connection drop to 0K transfer and recover without issue except when writing from the desktop to the NAS. Any ideas? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/562674 Title: nautilus Large file copy timed out -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
