[Bug 753707] Re: gdm autologin does not work in Natty if private ecryptfs directory used

2011-05-23 Thread Robert Ancell
Don't worry checking, I've updated the patch for Oneiric to check if
both ~/.ecryptfs/auto-mount exists and ~/.ecryptfs/Private.mnt is set to
the home directory. That appears to be the method to check if the home
directory is fully encrypted.

[Bug 529396] Re: Play back of HD Quicktime crashes Music Player

2011-05-23 Thread exup1000
Hi
its been a while since I logged this, I put in a work around to open with VLC.
But now with Natty Narwhal, they dropped Rhythm Box and now use Banshee.

I have been trying to use Banshee as a replacement for Rhythm box, but
it too has bugs, which are recorded in this site. Problem around Unbuntu
one site and if you use WINS. Plus other issues.

I will switch back to Rhythm Box and report back in the next few days.

[Bug 768219] Re: Keyboard Preferences doesn't save

2011-05-23 Thread Jan Pluhar
I HAVE SOLVED THIS.

It works for me now. I hope it will solve your case as well. There is no
need for any work with terminal or something, the only thing I had to
change was the keyboard layout while logging into Ubuntu 11.04

1. restart your computer
2. click your user-name
3. choose correct language on the bottom of the screen before typing the
password (German in your case)
4. log in

You should be logged in with your german keyboard set as default. I hope
this helped.

[Bug 351833] Re: Metacity doesn't start in Jaunty

2011-05-23 Thread NigelBennee
This thread indirectly solved my problem which was that after
uninstalling wine I also lost metacity and had the pain of having to
manually start it each boot. I had looked at gconf-editor before but the
key value of wm-gnome seemed reasonable for the window manager so I
passed. After reading your dialogues I set the key to metacity and all
is well. FYI Acer Aspire D255 and 10.10. Thanks.

[Bug 767095] Re: 1 pixel icons in notification-area-applet for qt softwares (e.g. Skype)

2011-05-23 Thread Adam Łyskawa
Please, see https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/775196

It's very important you visit this bug and answer if it affects you.
There is no real workaround. The bug is random and restarting
notification-area-applet until it shows all tray icons is pointless.
We're still with the bug and we even don't know what causes it.

I think it's related to Compiz, because switching to Metacity fixes the

[Bug 786933] [NEW] Retrieving contact info for contact notification popup stalls UI for 3 seconds and results in high CPU usage

2011-05-23 Thread sven
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: empathy

Bug seems to be present in Pidgin, too, but not as prominent (often) as
in Empathy, so maybe it is in libpurple?

It does not matter whether full or minimal contact info is selected for
contact list. Moving the mouse over the contact list results in high CPU
usage (50% CPU on my EeePC Atom N450) and stalls Empathy UI (list and
menu) for 3-4 seconds. After that, notification bubble comes up, but
hovering over some other contact afterwards produces same stall again
most of the time.

Happens alsmot everytime mouse pointer is moved into Empathy window.

Regression from Maverick. Never experienced that in Maverick.

Not critical, but very annoying and significantly slowing down my
Desktop work flow. Please fix.

Kind Regards,
Sven

2011-05-23 Thread Craig Esterhuizen
I had this problem on Unity desktop, but since then I have re-installed
Ubuntu Natty from a setup disk. Before I had a weather indicator which
showed an icon on the notification area. If I then started Skype I got the
problem of a 1 pixel icon. However now I have no other indicators installed
and I have no issues with the Skype icon whatsoever. I was and still am
running Compiz. I have not tried installing any other Qt applications
though.

Problem is caused by a jabber account I am using. The problem vanishes if I

Jabber server in question is a corporate jabber server with encrypted

So, please check if people using (other) jabber accounts have this

[Bug 529396] Re: Play back of HD Quicktime crashes Music Player

2011-05-23 Thread exup1000
Hi

installed Rhythmbox and it appears to work in Natty Narwhal. No crashes.

Sadly though for my box, HD is not playing nicely in any media player, but this
is another story. Same video was playing fine in Ubuntu 9.10 and 10.4
I followed this link http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1751647 but it
did not resolve the problem.
I will try and troubleshoot HD playback (if needs be in anohter bug report.)

Happy for you to close this off. Resovled by upgrade.

[Bug 767095] Re: 1 pixel icons in notification-area-applet for qt softwares (e.g. Skype)

2011-05-23 Thread Marek Blahuš
I, too, had a weather indicator on the panel (that one which comes with
the clock) which I cannot make working again in Natty with GNOME2
(Compiz), although I can see the weather information below the time zone
map when the clock is expanded - don't know if this is related, though.

I oppose calling this uncritical, because this affects Skype which I
need to use every day and once you close its window there is no way to
get it back (except for the killall notification-area-applet work-
around) while Skype's process is still running. I did not find any
setting in Skype that would tell it to terminate once I close its
window. Gnome-panel may be obsolete, but there are still applications
which depend on it.

[Bug 786986] [NEW] Language should be represented by additional LC_* variables

2011-05-23 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: language-selector

The LC_* environment variables (except for LC_ALL) inherit their values
from LANG when not set explicitly. LANG is in Ubuntu dedicated to
represent various region specific formats, and when a selected language
is represented by some other locale than the LANG value, LC_MESSAGES is
set explicitly. However, there are two more LC_* variables - LC_CTYPE
and LC_COLLATE - that have little to do with regional formats, and it
would make more sense if they were treated in the same way as
LC_MESSAGES. To achieve that, changes to the language-selector and gdm
packages are needed.

Such changes were suggested by Colin Watson when he sponsored this change to
the im-switch package:
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/im-switch/1.20ubuntu4
Even if Colin approved the change, we agreed that it is a short-term
workaround. Consequently, once the above changes to language-selector and gdm
are in place, the changes in version 1.20ubuntu4 of im-switch should be
reversed.

Sorry roc and jst but I won't be able to write a test for this. This is
due to this line here under nsDomDataTransfer::GetFiles:

  if (mEventType != NS_DRAGDROP_DROP  mEventType != NS_DRAGDROP_DRAGDROP)
return NS_OK;

The way we handle a dataTransfer in test drags is to capture it from a
dragStart event, then use it in all other events. But, the dataTransfer
saves its original event type (which is _START) and there is no way in
JS to change this, so it triggers the early return.

I assume it's like this for a reason, eg. so a page can't read the files
on a dragover event.

I did fix a couple bugs in finding this, but that's a whole day down the
drain...
