[Bug 801858] [NEW] high cpu loads on using security enabled USB drives
Public bug reported: I have a JetFlash 620 8Gb Transcend drive. Whenever i insert it, the cpu load gets very high. This problem persists in 10.10 and 11.04, but it does not affect 10.04. udiscs --monitor gives the following added: /org/freedesktop/UDisks/devices/sr0 changed: /org/freedesktop/UDisks/devices/sr0 added: /org/freedesktop/UDisks/devices/sdd changed: /org/freedesktop/UDisks/devices/sr0 added: /org/freedesktop/UDisks/devices/sde changed: /org/freedesktop/UDisks/devices/sr0 added: /org/freedesktop/UDisks/devices/sdd1 changed: /org/freedesktop/UDisks/devices/sr0 changed: /org/freedesktop/UDisks/devices/sr0 job-changed: /org/freedesktop/UDisks/devices/sdd1 changed: /org/freedesktop/UDisks/devices/sdd1 job-changed: /org/freedesktop/UDisks/devices/sdd1 changed: /org/freedesktop/UDisks/devices/sr0 changed: /org/freedesktop/UDisks/devices/sr0 changed: /org/freedesktop/UDisks/devices/sr0 changed: /org/freedesktop/UDisks/devices/sr0 changed: /org/freedesktop/UDisks/devices/sr0 changed: /org/freedesktop/UDisks/devices/sr0 changed: /org/freedesktop/UDisks/devices/sr0 changed: /org/freedesktop/UDisks/devices/sr0 changed: /org/freedesktop/UDisks/devices/sr0 changed: /org/freedesktop/UDisks/devices/sr0 ..etc where sdd is the user data partition, sr0 is a non-writeable partition holding the security software. [Bug 801542] Re: Left panel status should be saved between sessions
Thank you for your bug report and taking the time to make Ubuntu better. I think the fact that the settings are document-specific is more of a feature than a bug -- e.g. for some long document you may always want the table of contents which would be silly for a two page document. [Bug 801887] [NEW] Ocasionally cannot select files on desktop
Public bug reported: Sometimes, when I click on files on the desktop, they cannot be selected. [Bug 801542] Re: Left panel status should be saved between sessions
I see. You are right, Ctrl+T do save the current settings (except for the window size though). I think this is not intuitive at all. Am I the only one to think so? I'm wondering if the behaviour should not be the opposite: dont show the panel by default. Or automatically display it only for documents with more than N pages (and possibly a configuration setting for N). Another question is, is PDF viewing an activity mostly done with different files (in which case the settings should be global), or are the files opened almost always the same (and then the current default is probably right). ** Changed in: evince (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Opinion -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evince in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/801542 Title: Left panel status should be saved between sessions To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evince/+bug/801542/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 629258] Re: Battery life estimation never comes around
This bug is still present in Natty. Sorry, I can't get LauchPad to add natty/upower as a new target for this bug - maybe somebody more au fait with launchpad can do that. I have, however, examined tested my earlier patch (for upower on 10.10) against upower-0.9.9 that ships with Natty, and it checks out and works fine. Hence, I attach a .deb with the i386 binary of my patched upower, plus the source. If somebody wants to also compile for amd64 architecture and add to their PPA (like they did with the earlier patch) to aid distribution, then I'd be thankful - I don't have time for this. I also see a lot of comments about upstream patches and the need to re- enable the disabled code - this patch does exactly that - fixes the broken estimation code and re-enables it. I don't have time to do it myself, but if somebody wants to commit my patch back up to the ubuntu upower project, then this bug would be fixed for everybody. ** Attachment added: dsc debian source file + auxillaries, original source not included https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/upower/+bug/629258/+attachment/2181519/+files/upower_0.9.9-4eyre1.tar.gz -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to a duplicate bug report (38795). https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/629258 Title: Battery life estimation never comes around To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/devicekit-power/+bug/629258/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 802066] [NEW] Opening remote (sftp) font file takes a very long time
Public bug reported: On nautilus when clicking on a font file that resides on a remote sftp server it takes a very long time for gnome-font-viewer to actually open the file. So far I measured 11 minutes to open a 15,9Kb file. By copying the file to the local filesystem and clicking it opens instantly. I haven't tried other remote protocols. The remote server is running openSUSE 11.3 on a ADSL connection with 768Kbit/s upload speed. Tried with both ttf and otf files and makes no difference. I'm also seeing an abnormal amount of network traffic in system monitor that is much greater than the actual font file size. I've killed the gnome-font- viewer process because I got tired of waiting after it had downloaded 60MB from the said server when trying to open a 195KB font file. Steps to reproduce: 1. in nautilus open a remote connection to a SFTP server (preferably one with a slow connection so the problem is more evident) 2. click on a font file to open it Expected results: The font file opens in the time it would take to download and open it Actual results: It takes a very long time to open the file and there is an abnormal amount of network traffic not proportional to the file size System is Ubuntu 11.04 with all the latest updates and gnome-control- center 2.32.1 ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.04 Package: gnome-control-center 1:2.32.1-0ubuntu15 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.38-8.42-generic 2.6.38.2 Uname: Linux 2.6.38-8-generic i686 Architecture: i386 Date: Sun Jun 26 00:14:15 2011 EcryptfsInUse: Yes InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 11.04 Natty Narwhal - Release i386 (20110427.1) ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE=pt:en PATH=(custom, user) LANG=pt_PT.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: gnome-control-center UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug i386 natty running-unity unity-2d -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/802066 Title: Opening remote (sftp) font file takes a very long time To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/802066/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
