[Bug 44082] Re: GNOME Panel icons (on right side) move apparently randomly on session start in some situations
It seems the problem is gone in Natty Gnome Classic mode: In Natty the Indicator Applet Complete is used. It says An applet to hold all of the system indicators. This applet is a container which holds other applets. The good thing is, that the individual applets _cannot_ be moved but only the whole applet container! With this applet container it seems that this applet solves the problem with moving applets apparently around! This nice Indicator Applet Complete is avalaible in Lucid LTS, too. felix.rommel, the problem is not gone in Natty. The problem is only a bit less bad, because all the indicators are grouped in one applet. [Bug 373477] Re: Can't save files to Samba (cifs) shares because they report 0 bytes free
I have the exact same bug in 11.04. I have two computers at home, both with Ubuntu, and one of them is booted to win from time to time. On the first machine I have two samba shares, and on 10.10 I made mounts to them using cifs. But, after update to 11.04, file transfer over this mounts became too slow (~500 kilobytes/s), and I opted for gvfs solution. But, gvfs access always reposts 0 bytes free, while cifs reports actual bytes free. Now, I'm using 2 links to each share - one with cifs (so, I can see the amount of free space), and one with gvfs (so, I can copy at relatively decent speed, ~5 megabytes/s: with maverick's cifs access I had ~10 megabytes/s). A bit stupid solution, I know, but I have nothing better for now. From win os, everything works as expected (it reports actual free space, and copy speed is ~10 megabytes/s). So, the problem is definitely in cifs (speed) and gvfs (free space). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/373477 Title: Can't save files to Samba (cifs) shares because they report 0 bytes free To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gvfs/+bug/373477/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 490238] Re: Video Player does not show any video, but has audio, if connected to an external monitor (dual monitor setup)
Hi everyone! Just a thought here, but I remember having similar problems a couple of years ago, both on windows and ubuntu, and if I remember correctly, the screen that you want to play movies in needs to be the primary screen(ie, set the external screen as primary, and your laptop screen in this case, to secondary). Or you can, as browman said above, choose to use mirror mode. This is the same as in windows, so it's probably related to hardware and/or graphics drivers. [Bug 629258] Re: Battery life estimation never comes around
Hi Mohegan. I too saw the double reporting of battery status, when I first installed 11.04. However, I saw it *before* I'd installed the patched upower, so I don't think it's related to that (unless you tell me that you only had one line *until* you installed the patch). The thing is, the patch affects upower and the data that it reports -- but the icon belongs to gnome-power-manager, which reads the upower data and draws the graphs and things -- and is nothing to do with upower per se. Unless you can definitely identify the behaviour as coming from the patched upower, I'd be tempted to file a new bug under gnome-power- manager. If it's any help, the double reporting seemed to go away for me as soon as I installed all the latest package updates, though as I said, that was before I'd installed the upower patch. andy -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to a duplicate bug report (38795). https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/629258 Title: Battery life estimation never comes around To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/devicekit-power/+bug/629258/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 802305] [NEW] No sleep mode after fullscreen movie playback
Public bug reported: After a movie has finished playing in fullscreen, totem continues to block the system from going into sleep mode. This is probably 'cause it does not quit fullscreen mode after playback end. To ways to fix this: either fix the fullscreen code, so that it stops stopping the system from going into sleep mode when playback has stopped, or, like VLC - quit fullscreen mode when playback ends, thus allowing system to go to sleep. It's my humble opinion that this is a serious flaw in totem - just think of all that energy being consumed! The environmental impact of fixing this bug enourmous.
