[Bug 815726] [NEW] Link to folder on windows partition should remount device or at least give better message
Public bug reported: I created a link to a folder on my NTFS partition, when the partition is unmounted (usually when the computer first starts) the link is reported as broken. When you click the link it gives you the option to delete the link. However if I remount the partition the link works perfectly. It would be nice if nautilus was smart enough to be able to remount the partition automagically when I click on the link. Or give the option to remount, or at the very least give a message that you need to remount. @mpt, yes, I'm rather surprised at all the attention this got now, months after Gnome 3 shipped. gnome-control-center already has the OnlyShowIn:Gnome,Unity key set. I think KDE will use shaunm's solution in KDE 4.7.1 which is plenty early enough to make it into Ubuntu 11.10. However, because it's a string change, a freeze exception will need to be requested and approved first. The secondary issue is that this same problem affects gnome-system- monitor and ksysguard. I can confirm the bug using Ubuntu 11.04 32 bit. With evince (coming with the default installation) the first page is printed quite quickly but for the other you have to wait a lot (i'm not sure whether the document would have been printed because after two minutes of wait for the second page i canceled the process). Printing with Okular doesn't show this slow response. For any further information let me know the output of which commands you need and I'll post them.
