[Bug 787684] Re: Evolution can't open some local address books

2011-08-25 Thread Stefano Bagnatica
If can help, I have this problem and this is my GCONF configuration in
/apps/evolution/addressbook, name = sources, 3° value:

The address book "Personale", that have "system" relative_uri, works
correcty, and I get "Invalid source" opening address book "AbleTech",
with relative_uri 1295625049.3850.8@cvs28.

I see that the "uri" is wrong, because now the addressbook is in
.local/share/evolution/addressbook, but I have also tried correcting
this URI in GCONF, but the error stays there. I tried opening the
addressbook.db.summary files, and they seems ok.

I cannot also delete that address book... I think I'll delele the not
working book from GCONF, and recreate manually.

[Bug 834168] Re: Segfault with creating custom widgets through GtkBuilder

I reported this upstream with a small self-contained reproducer. I
uploaded a workaround to ppa:ubuntu-desktop/ppa, so if we will update
pygobject to 2.90 in oneiric (see bug 828751), I'll keep this applied
until this gets fixed properly.

I tested with Thunderbird on Virtualbox machine running XP with network
adapter set to NAT. Sending mail failed with timeout after 2% sent , so
I guess the problem is with underlying network level. Sending mail from
the same machine and same network setup on Windows is successful.

I think you are describing one of the differences between the Gnome
window manager and the Unity 2D desktop. There is an option to login
using the old Gnome desktop, but it is unlikely you used it -- you would
have noticed bugs far more bothersome than menu bar behavior.

When you logged in, was there a menu with current selection "Ubuntu2D"?

[Bug 834391] [NEW] PDFs are not printed correctly

2011-08-25 Thread Arvind
Public bug reported:

PDFs printed from Evince have large overlapping text with improper
formatting as seen in the attached picture (There is some text printed
on the opposite side of the sheet which also turned up in the scanned
image, sorry about that). This happens for all PDF files, I have not
tested with any non pdf files.

Adobe reader prints the same files fine. LibreOffice also has no
problems printing. I have tried purge/reinstalling CUPS, the printer
driver and evince. The printer model is an Epson Stylus NX420. The
language is US english.

Please let me know if you need more information.

[Bug 834335] [NEW] evolution forgot location of imap Sent folder after recent upgrades

2011-08-25 Thread Jamie Strandboge
Public bug reported:

I use IMAP for email, and when I send email I have it stored in a Sent
folder on my IMAP server. Recent oneiric upgrades broke this and I get
the following error whenever I send an email:

'Message was sent, but an error occurred during post-processing.
...Failed to append to imap:///Sent: Cannot get folder 'Sent': folder does
not exist. Appending to local 'Sent' folder instead.'

This can easily be fixed by going to Edit/Preferences/Mail Accounts then
selecting the account, click Edit, and going to the Defaults tab.
Looking at the entries for Drafts and Sent, I only see 'click here to
select a folder' rather than the folder I used to have prior to
upgrades. I'm assuming this is some sort of migration failure.

** Affects: evolution (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

pointer). The second one I have to set it to "screen" or "window",
otherwise the tablet will work as a mouse (no pressure/fading effects).
So it doesn't matter whether the other devices are "disable", "window"
or "screen"; I need to put the tablet as "window" for it to be usable.
But the the problem persists.

I had to kill the-gimp with xkill command, since I wasn't allowed to
click the "don't save" option when trying to close the application.

This bug sucks big time. /cry

I am seeing this as well on natty. Like dtalk, it happens without

[Bug 834240] [NEW] custom icon theme resets to ubuntu-mono when opening appearance properties

2011-08-25 Thread appi2012
Public bug reported:

When opening the appearance properties window (to, say, change the
background) my icons are all reset to the default ubuntu-mono ones. This
should not happen.

To recreate the issue:
1. use dconf-editor or gnome-tweak-tool to change icon theme.
2. right-click on desktop, select "Change Desktop Background"

A better scenario would be leaving the icon theme as it was set, and
showing "Custom" as the theme. Another button would open a dialog to
edit, individually, the icon, gtk, and window-border themes.

[Bug 834237] Re: SEND/RECEIVE stopped working

2011-08-25 Thread Guy DAmico
This is not a fresh install, I have been using Ubuntu for several months
with many updates w/o incident. However, after this last update
Evolution appeared to start new with a software wizard to help me with
it's setup. After going through the re-setup Evolution worked fine for
a day or two and then stopped communicating with my mail server.

2011-08-25 Thread florin
Man, I don't know if the bug is the original one as there are huge time
differences. I run this in Oneiric Ocelot (11.10) alpha 3 + all upgrades
up-to-date. Since the original bug was filed (3 years ago) both Gnome
and Ubuntu changed quite a lot.

[Bug 587856] Re: GNOME Drag & Drop broken for remote X sessions in Lucid

2011-08-25 Thread jrhenkelmann
Hi,

just wanted to ask, whether there is any progress in fixing this
problem... being able to drag and drop would make some tasks so much
quicker... sure you can always use mc on the shell for file management,
but when having a working desktop?

I experience the bug with lxde-openbox (thus also gtk2) running on a
vncserver on ubuntu 11.04

[Bug 803734] Re: gdm ignores xubuntu-gdm-theme gconf settings

2011-08-25 Thread Forest
Update 2: Installing gnome-settings-daemon had the unfortunate side
effect of this message being written to ~/.xsession-errors every few
seconds, endlessly:

** (gnome-settings-daemon:2013): WARNING **: Connection failed,
reconnecting...

I have therefore removed gnome-settings-daemon from my xubuntu systems.
I guess I'll have to wait for lightdm before I can have a good-looking
login screen again.

Meh, after I found a fix for bug 834168, ubiquity now exposes a final

All known programs which mix GI and static bindings have been fixed, see
tracking bug.

However, ubiquity segfaults with the new pygobject, I track this in bug
834168.

[Bug 834168] [NEW] Segfault with creating custom widgets through GtkBuilder

2011-08-25 Thread Martin Pitt
Public bug reported:

Current ubiquity crashes when running under pygobject 2.90. Easy local
reproducer in a built ubiquity tree is:

$ GI_TYPELIB_PATH=src/webcam PYTHONPATH=. python -c 'from gi.repository
import Gtk; import ubiquity.gtkwidgets; b=Gtk.Builder();
b.add_from_file("gui/gtk/stepPrepare.ui")'

I bisected this to
http://git.gnome.org/browse/pygobject/commit/?id=7bc4122897, which
explains why it works in the pygobject-2-28 branch (as this commit got
reverted there to not break the pygtk ABI).

This might be a bug in GTK3's image builder or pygobject itself.

[Bug 834102] Re: Nautilus crashes on file search and moving scrollbar

2011-08-25 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or
challenging to deal with as a ".crash" file. Please follow these
instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can
be dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable
apport in /etc/default/apport and restart.

Now open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the
crash report you wish to submit.
If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with
'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is
the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed
to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug
/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'.

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more
efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

[Bug 829778] [NEW] Breaks everything because of an API break in glib

2011-08-25 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

This package is still installed on my system from an earlier Ubuntu
version (maverick?). However, it ships a gio extension point which uses
an API recently removed from glib, and subsequently prevents everything
using glib from starting (which is basically everything), due to the
following error:

symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/gio/modules/libgiowncksync.so: undefined
symbol: g_desktop_app_info_launch_handler_get_type

This should be dropped from the archive, and we need to remove it on
upgrade to oneiric too
