[Bug 795519] Re: Add back system-wide network proxy settings

2011-09-08 Thread jan2ary
Doesn't work for me too - after last night upgrade to Beta 1.
Also I'm really upset because of no more location based proxy settings here
like Home, Office etc., also there is no more protocol wide proxy settings (the
same for all http, https, ftp etc). Each time I change a location I have to
rewrite proxy settings for each protocol manually. Sad.

[Bug 841609] Re: Progress bar overlay not working

2011-09-08 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package nautilus - 1:3.1.90-0ubuntu2

---
nautilus (1:3.1.90-0ubuntu2) oneiric; urgency=low

  * debian/patches/12_unity_launcher_support.patch:

#841609)
- reset the progress value at the end of the operations
- force to update the progress at the beginning of an operation
- show the count when there are more than one in-progress operations
  * debian/rules:
- Pass --disable-appindicator to configure flags.
  * debian/control:
- add libunity-dev dependency

[Bug 840940] Re: Some resolutions missing from oneiric

2011-09-08 Thread twipley
@Sebastien Bacher: yes, it does.

Switching to it through xrandr -s 840x525, though, takes nearly as
much as thirty seconds. Same thing for switching back to the native
resolution. Switching to available-in-monitor-settings-window
resolutions was almost instantaneous, conversely. However, as I
previously mentioned, the desired resolution is lacking from that
monitor-settings window (it was present in natty).

Re: [Bug 841759] Re: Evince over-consume memory in regard of the opened pdf file

2011-09-08 Thread nbl
I installed Acrobat Reader 9 on my system, memory usage is 49 Mo, so it
appears that it is an acceptable memory footprint.
Thanks

2011/9/8 madbiologist 841...@bugs.launchpad.net

At one-third the previous memory usage, I'd say we're good.

[Bug 844557] [NEW] excessive CPU, Memory and hard disk usage

2011-09-08 Thread Marco Presi
Public bug reported:

Since a couple of days, when I start evolution it slows down my laptop.
Evolution itself becomes un-responsive, and so are all the open
applications. By using both 'top' and 'ps' I noticed that evolution uses
up to 18% CPU and about 70% of memory. In addition, the hard-disk stars
working intensively. Killing evolution restores the laptop to its ususal
responsiveness.

[Bug 841609] Re: Progress bar overlay not working

2011-09-08 Thread Hernando Torque
After some more testing: the progress bar seems to fail whenever the
copy process total file size is = 2147483648 bytes.

** Description changed:

- I just copied a couple of GiB around and noticed that the progress bar
- on the Nautilus launcher item wasn't working. It looks like the progress
- bar gets painted in the other direction, but that's just a guess (see
- screenshot).
-
- The progress bar seems to work fine when staying on the root partition.
+ The progress bar seems to fail showing progress whenever the total file
+ size limit of the copy process is larger or equal than 2147483648 bytes
+ (= 2 GiB).

  TEST CASE:
- 1. Open Nautilus and copy more than one large file from one partition to
another so the launcher item progress bar pops up.
+ 1. Create a bad dummy file:
+ dd if=/dev/zero of=dummy.fail bs=1073741824 count=2
+ 2. Create a working dummy file:
+ cp dummy.bad dummy.good
+ truncate -s 2147483647 dummy.good
+ 3. Open Nautilus and copy each one separately to a different place.
Filesystems and partitions shouldn't matter.

  RESULT:
- The progress bar doesn't follow the progress shown in Nautilus' file
operation dialog.
-
- Using Unity r1486.
+ * dummy.good: The progress bar follows the progress shown in Nautilus' file
dialog.
+ * dummy.bad: The progress bar doesn't follow the progress shown in Nautilus'
file operation dialog.

[Bug 643337] Re: printer job fails with /usr/lib/cups/backend/ipselect failed

2011-09-08 Thread Norbert
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 620751 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/620751

Good morning!

I would like to share some information, which might give additional
information, and help everyone out behalf of this bug, for which I bit
think, that it is not duplicate of #620751. What I would like to share
are my personal experiences, and all my assumptions are own, don't take
them as fact.

I have experienced a similar issue with ipselect recently, but under a
bit different circumstances, yet I think the reason are the same. Now
ipselect, also known as InfoPrint Select (IBM tool) is mostly used
within IBM or IBM related networks, most of the time within it's
internal printing system. Being employed currently by IBM, I also use
the printers using the ipselect method, as by policy.

On the 7th of September 2011 my goal was on printing out a simple PDF file
using Evince, and done this through the IBM Printing Network. The PDF file was
this file:
http://www.nepszamlalas.hu/files/sharedUploads/Anyagok/2011/08_ho/311_Lakaskerdoivv_ver5.pdf

After some tries, I was browsing through the log of CUPS, and saw the
same error message. According to the log, the Postscript command sent
through IPselect has been ending up in error when using Evince
(Postscript Level 2), while with Adobe PDF Viewer, the command sent
through (Postscript Level 3) has ended up in a successful printing.
(Printer was installed with IBM's solution for setting up printer)

Though I am not an expert of PostScript, I think, that the internal
printers are using a different level of Postscript as default, or are
not able to handle the commands sent for them by the regular
expressions, while Adobe PDF reader uses a different set of commands and
methods provodng the same result by recreating the PostScript file, and
sending that to the printers. As of course this doesn't explain the
lines Error: Illegal entry in bfrange block in ToUnicode CMap, but it
might be also coming from the settings used for such printers provided
by the solution.

Please see attachments for detailed error logs!

Regards:
norbert79

[Bug 844594] [NEW] Keyring doesn't unlock automatically on login

2011-09-08 Thread Akash
Public bug reported:

The GNOME Keyring doesn't unlock automatically upon logging in.I have
installed PAM too but it has hardly served it's purpose.I do not use
automatic login yet each time it asks me to enter the password. The
option to unlock automatically stays greyed out. And the PAM file opens
in read-only mode too so i cannot manually configure it.

[Bug 841761] Re: unable to set keyboard shortcuts

2011-09-08 Thread Colin Mills
I appreciate that there is insufficient information to attempt to fix the bug.
I tried your suggestions, without any success. As I said in my earlier bug
report, The shortcuts do not respond when trying to edit a shortcut, nor is
there any response when pressing Backspace to clear. This includes all the
keyboard shortcut options, they are all locked.
So as you can see from my earlier bug report I tried using Backspace, but this
did not reset the keys.

Re: [Bug 574693] Re: nautilus ftp file transfer hangs in lucid

2011-09-08 Thread Martin Pitt
Creak [2011-09-08 8:03 -]:
@Martin Pitt: Fix Released means that you'll consider including gvfs
1.9.4 in the next Oneiric release (11.10.1?)

No, it means that 1.9.5 is already _in_ oneiric, and thus will be in
11.10 :)
