Do the rules work when selecting all messages and then clicking messages -

I have the same problem in Oneiric, rules work just fine if applied manually,
but not automatically when recieving new messages.

[Bug 899638] Re: Sound settings missing many many options.

2011-12-06 Thread Sebastien Bacher
closing the bug, while requesting some options is fine we don't want to
keep this dialog a simple mixer with the most common option, if some
users need a better granularity or extra options they can install a
fully featured mixer as well, note that the GNOME control uses
pulseaudio and not alsa so exposing alsa option is not something to do
there

[Bug 880331] Re: Can no longer shutdown when laptop lid closes

2011-12-06 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Those are valid points, we dislike some of things GNOME3 did (like
dropping support for custom screensaver graphics), some will be added
back, GNOME3 and Unity are still quite new, I understand it can be
frustrating meanwhile, sorry about that.

Some side notes on the example you took
- you can change the default session simply by picking it in lightdm (you need
to log you and log in with the news session), but indeed it might not be
obvious for users who configured autologin and usually don't see the login
screen.
- user groups configuration is a known issue, you can only deal with profiles
in the new UI, you can look at bug #840682 if you are interested in that issue
or https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=658418
- not sure that the power button configurability is something useful, it
displays a dialog with the different sessions option, which is something that
works for 99% of the users, the extra 1% can still get to the setting with
tweak tools

such a icon does not already exist, contact Rosie for the adapted icon

Note from User Testing:

In user testing, participants use 'home' (Nautilus Launcher) to find or
access everything in their computer. Many thought that the Dash was the
equivalent of the start button in Windows whereas 'home' was their

[Bug 874265] Re: Launcher - remove the embossed 'home' image from the Nautilus Launcher icon

2011-12-06 Thread Paul Sladen
Pushed a one-line solution that simply changes the requested icon in the
distro-added 'nautilus-home.desktop', that is subsequently sourced by
Unity. In the middle of debugging this, I also encountered a weird case
where the Launcher entry for 'nautilus-home' was dropped from the static
list of Launcher entries. This mask list is stored by Unity in
gsettings; I had to reset the list to default with:

  gsettings reset com.canonical.Unity.Launcher favorites

which restored the full-set; currently:

  ['nautilus-home.desktop', 'firefox.desktop', 'libreoffice-
writer.desktop', 'libreoffice-calc.desktop', 'libreoffice-
impress.desktop', 'ubuntu-software-center.desktop', 'ubuntuone-
installer.desktop', 'gnome-control-center.desktop']

[Bug 868400] Re: Synaptics touchpad stops working

2011-12-06 Thread sven
Apologies for being a little direct on the last post.

I think that in many cases this bug might just be caused by those two
syndaemon instances running, which would make sense as oneiric made the
switch from lightdm to gdm, and this does not happen on my laptop if I
use gdm (whoch does NOT start its own syndaemon instance).

Of course, it is possible some people have the same bug behaviour with
other causes.

Regards
Sven

[Bug 892989] Re: gnome-fallback-mount-helper.desktop should use gnome as a session name

2011-12-06 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Ok, the previous version moved so I uploaded that fix to oneiric-
proposed

** Changed in: gnome-settings-daemon (Ubuntu Oneiric)
   Status: Triaged = Fix Committed

** Description changed:

- In Oneiric, org.gnome.desktop.media-handling.automount-open is set to
- true by default, which causes removable medias to open a new nautilus
- window when inserted. This might be the desired behaviour in Unity, but
- it's wrong in gnome-shell because gnome-shell already displays a
- notification asking whether the user wants to open a nautilus window.
- This is redondant with the automatic opening of the window.
+ In Oneiric, gnome-fallback-mount-helper runs in gnome-shell sessions but
+ should not

- I already sumbitted it upstream but it was rightfully closed NOTGNOME:
+ Testcase:
+ - log into a gnome-shell session, and look if there is a running
gnome-fallback-mount-helper
+ - before the fix it should be running
+ - with the fixed version it should not be running

[Bug 900785] [NEW] package python3-gobject-cairo is missing (python 3 bindings)

2011-12-06 Thread VS
Public bug reported:

The package containing Cairo GObject-introspection bindings for python 3

[Bug 829351] Re: Misspelled words are highlighted in yellow instead of red

2011-12-06 Thread Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre
** Description changed:

+ == SRU Rationale ==
+ Low risk update; minor release of Evolution that includes small bugfixes,
such as the misspelled word highlighting.
+
+ FROM GIT:
+ Bug #659736 - GOA Google calendar prevents settings change
+ Bug #663748 - Unable to reconfigure GOA GMail account
+ Do not crash on CA certificate import (in select_certificate())
+ Crash on personal certificate removal
+ Bug #662589 - 'Retrieve List' for new Google calendar does not use proxy
+ Bug #660782 - [pst-import] Missing 'To' on message replies
+ Bug #662742 - Double free when expunging completed tasks
+ Bug #660738 - Font changes ignored since 3.2
+ Bug #616981 - Mail marking as read is hard
+ Bug #661409 - Contact display drops address lines
+ Bug #661549 - Avoid fetching from backend when calculating summary
+ Fix invalid read on vCard drop
+ Updated Hungarian translation
+ Post-release version bump.
+
+ == Test cases ==
+ 1) start a new email
+ 2) include speling misstakes.
+
+ Words should be highlighted in red; if the patch is missing, highlight
+ is by default in yellow (set to red in config, but has some color data
+ missing)
+

[Bug 880331] Re: Can no longer shutdown when laptop lid closes

Thanks for the answer, Sebastien. You don't have to sorry, it's a

gnome developers don't know who or where those 1% people can be. Maybe
I'm the 1% of a lot of removed options, I gave you those examples for a
reason.

- There's a computer room in my University with old PC's that don't work
fine with Unity, I'm pretty sure that I've tested automatically login in
Unity-2D and didn't work, it always started in Unity, so I believe that
I have to edit a file to solve this problem. However I've just tested in
my own PC and you're right, the automatic login respects the last
desktop udes. Maybe I did something wrong when I tested, maybe a recent
update changed this. It doesn't matter, the main thing is that it works.
Thank you so much for your comment, I have one less problem for the new
course :-D

- Thanks for the link of the groups. In the last course I propose an
exercise: I have a wife and a child, everyone with their own account,
and I want that my wife can read my files but my child not. In 11.04
there was an easy way to solve using User and Groups icon, now I need to
use a console. Not a problem for me, but bad for new users.

- For the power button, I use my computer as a DLNA server to watch in
my TV movies that I have in my hard disk. When I finish to watch them I
used to

(in Ubuntu 11.04)
1-Press power button and go to bed

However now I have to

(in plain ubuntu 11.10)
1- Turn monitor on and wait a few seconds until it responds
2- Enter my password (because screen is locked)
3- Press power button or click on power off upper-right menu
4- Select power off and go to bed

I'm afraid that tweak tools I've used (gconf-editor, Ubuntu Tweak) only
allow to remove the confirmation of menu in the upper-right corner, not
the power off button, so I can only remove a step

(in ubuntu 11.10 with tweaks)
1- Turn monitor on and wait a few seconds until it responds
2- Enter my password (because screen is locked)
3- Click on power-off and go to bed

I had to apply a different approach to have in ubuntu 11.10 the same
behaviour than in 11.04. I wrote in http://askubuntu.com/questions/66723
/how-do-i-set-the-power-button-to-shutdown-instantly-instead-of-
opening-a-dialog/84984#84984 But this solution is not for a new user.

[Bug 32484] Re: Unable to create a new partition

2011-12-06 Thread Bodsda
Untested, but looking at the code and the patch file, if you change
vbox_visual_disk to drawingarea_visualdisk, that should work. The only
two objects in this file that use that method are treeview_detail and
drawingarea_visualdisk.

If I get time tonight I'll test this out, but if someone else could test
it, that would be great.

[Bug 900863] [NEW] About Ubuntu takes long time for fresh start

2011-12-06 Thread Sergey Fukanchik
Public bug reported:

Boot up your PC. Try System-About Ubuntu. On my 2Gz box it takes 7
seconds to just show up. Compare this to System-About Gnome which shows
up instantly.

[Bug 900866] [NEW] Epiphany doesn't appear in window management

2011-12-06 Thread frederik.nnaji
Public bug reported:

Epiphany's windows do not appear in ALT+TAB overview.
When Keep in launcher is selected, the Epiphany item in the launcher does not
connect to any running instance of the applications:
It doesn't indicate that Epiphany is running and it doesn't switch to an
Epiphany window, there is no exposé of open windows, tabs, pages or any preview
of any kind.
The right-click menu doesn't offer any options for Epiphany, it only shows
Epiphany Web Browser, which starts a new instance of Epiphany, and Keep in
launcher.

But the already open windows of Epiphany DO show up in SUPER+W as
manageable previews.

System: Ubuntu 11.10 64bit
