[Bug 868400] Re: Synaptics touchpad stops working - two syndaemon instances running

2011-12-28 Thread Teunis Peters
Still very much present - on eeepc 1215N for instance. It's not
unity-specific unity does not function on a dual-video-chip laptop.
It may be kernel-specific - 3.2.0.5 does it sometimes, 3.2.0.6 does it every
boot without Failure (or more precisely, with near 100% failure within
minutes)

[Bug 909309] [NEW] session not saved

2011-12-28 Thread Teunis Peters
Public bug reported:

Session is not saved anymore for any applications on logout.Affects
since 11.

Most particularly affects gnome-terminal, but applies to all formerly-
running apps that were saved to start.

10.4: logout, session saved. Running programs restored, terminal
windows restored.

Now: none are restored. 100% failure.

If even a mechanism to work with was documented, that would possibly
help. While it won't get formerly restored apps such as skype, pidgin
and the like to start automatically as preferred, I could at least fix
the otherwise broken gnome-terminal.

Absolutely. I used encrypted filenames option and my Private.sig has
exactly 2 lines. Anyway, I have moved my data on the cryptsetup
partition a half of a year ago, and for that reason I have not so much
to add.

[Bug 909394] [NEW] Evince doesn't respect user-preferences when the document paper-size is large

2011-12-28 Thread Norman Hendrich
Public bug reported:

Hi guys,

this one should be easy to fix. On Ubuntu, evince is the default previewer for
PDFs, and as such it is also used to preview posters, meaning documents with
paper-size DIN-A1, DIN-A0, or similar, and up.
Evince Info says 2.32.0, this is on Ubuntu/natty.

For poster-sized documents, evince ALWAYS comes up in the largest
possible size, meaning filling the complete width of my full-HD monitor,
and EVEN full-height, meaning that the evince window hides (or is
hidden) beneath my XFCE task-bar.

This is wrong, because:

1) I previously set my preferred window size in evince, and I expect it to
respect this setting,
2) full-width is crazy for A*-sized portrait formats,
3) full-width hides a lot of my other windows, showing only blank pixels,
4) the window-height is full screen-height, overlapping the task-bar,
5) the original documents is still scaled-down anyway.

6) the user has to resize the window
7) which is DIFFICULT, as the bottom-right window-resize corner is actually
BELOW the task-bar.

Perhaps you never tested with large (=large paper-size) documents or posters?
Or did I mis-configure/uninstall something, and evince behaves better on other
systems?

Please consider

a) keeping my selected preferences (=the window size when I selected ctrl+T,
meaning
use-current-settings-as-future-defaults),

b) being smart and deciding that full-height (minus task-bar !!!) would be good
for portrait-sized
documents, should you prefer not to keep the user-preferences,

c) avoiding going full-screen (hiding the task-bar, hiding everything
else with just blank pixels).

An example DIN-A0 size portrait-orientation poster, created with
latex+sciposter:
http://tams-www.informatik.uni-hamburg.de/projects/handle/poster-segmentation.pdf

Best,
  Norman

[Bug 366235] Re: system monitor uses incorrect network speed (throughput) units

2011-12-28 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Personally, I prefer my network throughput to be measured with the same
units as file downloads. Therefore, I don't think there's a good reason
to override upstream's default of measuring in bytes instead of bits.
Anyone that prefers network speed in bits can easily change that in
EditPreferences.

[Bug 909507] [NEW] Inconsistent UI between windowed and fullscreen

Public bug reported:

In windowed mode in totem, the controls go Previous, Play/Pause, Forward,
Fullscreen
In fullscreen they then change to: Play/Pause, Previous, Forward, and
fullscreen changes into a text button with a different icon in the top right of
the window. The fullscreen button layout should be changed to the same as the
windowed to improve consistency.

[Bug 908787] Re: nautilus crashed with SIGSEGV in g_str_hash()

2011-12-28 Thread Jason Conti
Found the problem, it is actually caused by ubuntuone-client
(specifically libsyncdaemon). Due to a recent change from bug #859635 ,
the library is registering a dbus message marshaller for VOID__POINTER,
however the type registered is actually VOID__BOXED, which happens to be
the same type as DeviceChanged from UDisks (DBusGObjectPath is a boxed
type). So there is an unnecessary (it is a standard type, and just maps
to g_cclosure_marshal_VOID__POINTER anyway) and incorrect entry in the
marshal_table of dbus-glib, and we get the error message as above:

GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_value_get_pointer: assertion
`G_VALUE_HOLDS_POINTER (value)' failed

when g_cclosure_marshal_VOID__POINTER is called, and then everything
dies because object_path is NULL.

I think the best fix to this would be to just remove the marshaller
registration in ubuntuone-client/libsyncdaemon/syncdaemon-
authentication.c. (tested a rebuild with it commented out and no crash,
but I don't use ubuntuone so didn't test any of that code, but again, it
should be unnecessary since it just maps to a standard marshaller).

[Bug 774766] [NEW] Clock and user still vertical when panel is vertical

You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Time and username are still vertical when panel is vertical (i.e. right
