[Bug 910754] [NEW] Problems watching DVD on ubuntu
Public bug reported: There are multiple problems while watching DVD on ubuntu: - Sometimes audio and video goes off sync (fast forwarding backwards usually remedies the problem) - If I pause playing: resuming play starts sometimes (quite rarely) at wrong location (earlier of the film). - If I pause playing: resuming play skips 2 - 10 seconds the movie while DVD drive is spinning up. - Fast forwarding 2 - 5 times result freeze of the totem and eventually it crashes. - With Gnome Shell: Gnome shell status bar (bottom of the screen) quite often shows icons at the lower right corner. At the same time the whole DVD control menu (while playing dvd at full screen) is blocked by the invisible bar. [Bug 694860] Re: clicking X in the window title bar does not QUIT Rhythmbox
To be even more Precise: you *can* quit RB when it's playing, but only by using Ctrl-Q or the corresponding Quit item from the menu. What you *cannot* do is quit RB when it's playing by clicking the window close button, even if you *don't use the indicator*. To be sure, I removed the indicator-sound package so that indicator- sound doesn't appear in my indicator area at all, and still, RB's window closing button while playing music just makes the window disappear; the music keeps on playing. With the broadly defined title that bug #526552 has, I don't think it's completely fixed yet: the specification says a player’s own settings interface should also have a checkbox for whether the player should be present in the sound menu, and RB doesn't have that. I see no no way to disable RB's sound menu integration. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to rhythmbox in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/694860 Title: clicking X in the window title bar does not QUIT Rhythmbox To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rhythmbox/+bug/694860/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

I can confirm the apparently crazy behavior that Phil reported. The file from Phil, when put in the home directory, crashes nautilus with the following error (NOTICE: it's a crash in glibc!) Jan 2 12:09:40 romano-asus kernel: [307815.741994] nautilus[10155]: segfault at b6ad7fd8 ip 073fad89 sp b6ad7fdc error 6 in libc-2.13.so[738b000+176000] Jan 2 12:10:05 romano-asus kernel: [307839.937064] nautilus[10186]: segfault at b6b09fd8 ip 036afd89 sp b6b09fdc error 6 in libc-2.13.so[364+176000] If I put it in a subdir, the thumbnail is not generated, but nautilus do not crash. I can open the svg in eog, it just uses a lot of resources, and so much memory that the system is sluggish after doing it, and need a while to come back to normal behavior. Error #6 is ENXIO? [Bug 678265] Re: 'do nothing' option for critical battery removed - prevents battery calibration
Yep, this is more like a regression bug than anything else. I can see that the choice has been made to protect stupid user from losing data, but this isn't how it should have been done. Add a warning dialog or something if you need to, but please let user decide on this. It's really annoying to have a brick on your lap while knowing that there's actually 4 hours juice left on battery, it's just the $0.01 dumb chip on a two year old battery that says it's critical. Regular user shouldn't need to go to gconf-editor to work around this. Calibrating doesn't seem to be long term solution either for some batteries, and there's no easy fix for that. A workaround (at least on 10.04): Using gconf-editor, change /apps/gnome-power- manager/actions/critical_battery to nothing. Power manager GUI does recognize this, too, unless you change it back. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-power-manager in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/678265 Title: 'do nothing' option for critical battery removed - prevents battery calibration To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-power-manager/+bug/678265/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

- looking at lightdm, it need EITHER lightdm-gtk-greeter (was installed) OR unity-geeter.
