[Bug 388547] Re: Volume keys don't work inside a full-screen game

2012-03-22 Thread Fabio Andrade
I also have this problem. Keyboard/laptop volume controls won't work
while running a full screen game.

This is a basic feature we have in Windows, and fixing this would help
people have a smooth transition to gaming on GNU/Linux.

Does anybody know if there is any distro that have corrected this issue?

[Bug 962782] [NEW] Trash applet don't change the 'full icon' after the system disconnect a USB driver in Ubuntu 12.04

2012-03-22 Thread antonioni
Public bug reported:

After than I work with files in a USB pendrive and I disconnect the
device from the USB port, if I have files in the trash applet and I
delete then from the trash, the "full icon" of trash applet don't change
to the "empty icon".

The icon only changes correctly when the system is logged out or restarted.
Steps:

1. Plug a USB pendrive;
2. Work with some files on this pendrive (create, move and delete to trash);
3. Remove safety the pendrive;
4. Empty the trash;
5. The icon continues "full", even when the trash folder is empty.

(Obs.: this problem don't occur every time.)

[Bug 878836] Re: Unity Greeter - Use Unity Greeter to fulfil lock screen as well as login functions

2012-03-22 Thread Robert Ancell
@johnlea - no its a complete hack to make gnome-screensaver looks like
U-G. So there are no indicators, and the '<' button is the equivalent
of selecting "switch user" in a session, i.e. it switches you to the
actual unity-greeter. It's a plan B option as we can't do the proper
switching reliably.

[Bug 962686] [NEW] Media controls do not appear in the HUD when Rhythmbox is hidden

2012-03-22 Thread C. Cooke
Public bug reported:

(Ubuntu 12.04, up to date as of midnight on the 23rd of March 2012.
Rhythmbox is version 2.96-0ubuntu3 )

When Rhythmbox is hidden, it continues playing through the playlist.
Media controls - previous, pause/play, next - are provided under the Sound
menu. However, they are not exported into the HUD:

Expected behaviour: I'd like to be able to find "pre[vious]", "next",
"pause" and "play" in the HUD.

What I get:

search token: pause
Edit > Paste
Sound > Choose Playlist > Play Queue
Help > Translate this Application...
File > Close Window
Tabs > ccooke@bauxite: ~

search token: sound
Sound > Rhythmbox
Sound > Choose Playlist > Play Queue
Sound > Sound Settings...
Sound > Mute
Terminal > Change Profile > Personal

(Yes, I can get to ryhtmbox (if I happen to know that rhythmbox is the
thing playing music, which is quite possibly not something that a new
user would have picked up yet) - but the media controls would be an
improvement)

[Bug 515915] Re: evince hangs on start-up

2012-03-22 Thread Dan Muresan
The only way I can get out of this bug, when it bites, is to exit my X

prints all sorts of useless console clutter, but fails to print any
useful diagnostics in this case.

2012-03-22 Thread John - Richmond
Robert - That's the way it used to work. Now when I click on a
different tracker the other color disappears. If I click back on it,
then those squares come back. So I only can use one color at a time.
What version are you using?

If it's SUPPOSED to allow multiple colors simultaneously, it's not
working in this version. That would be a bug.

[Bug 962629] [NEW] rendering pdf converted from ps

2012-03-22 Thread bowser
Public bug reported:

I find that when evince opens certain pdf files most of the contents are
blank while Okular can display these same files with no problem. For
example, the pdf version of this file http://arxiv.org/abs/0909.4561

With more experimentations it seems that that problem only happens with
pdf files which have been converted from postscripts. For example, in
the link above, evince could display the .ps version of the article, but
if convert it to .pdf (with ps2pdf) and try to open it with evince
again, one gets the same garbled display same as what happened when one
download the pdf file from the link and open it with evince. I cannot be
sure, but it seems that all the pdf files I have had problems were
converted from ps files (downloaded from academic sites which always
have a ps version) Again Okular displays all these files with no issue.

Ubuntu version 11.04, evince 2.32.0

[Bug 962617] [NEW] Precise does not suspend when HP Pavilion dv4t-1000 lid closes

2012-03-22 Thread vysotsky
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 12.04 beta is running absolutely beautifully -- certainly
better than any previous version -- on my HP Pavilion dv4t-1000 laptop,
with one slight exception. When I close the laptop lid, the system
does not suspend. I've double checked the configuration in my system
settings and they are set to suspend the computer when the lid is
shut, but nothing happens. I have no problem manually suspending the
system, and the system wakes up when the lid is opened. But for some
reason, closing the lid has no effect.

[Bug 899858] Re: regression in gvfs to connect/browse using obex

2012-03-22 Thread Ego
"sudo hciconfig hci0 sspmode 0"

This was not needed (on fully updated Precise).

"gvfs-bin_1.11.4-0ubuntu2+jml1_amd64.deb"

I assumed this package was uploaded twice and just used the first one.
Installation of packages went without any problems and then i rebooted
the PC.

I tested all 3 GUI options:
-Browse Files on Device ...
-Browse files ...
-Bluetooth Settings ... -> Devices -> Browse files

They all worked the same way and opened up Nautilus with mounted device
in root folder of device.

I tested:
-Copy to Desktop
-Drag & Drop to Desktop
-Move to Desktop
-Copy from Desktop and paste to folder on device
-Drag & Drop from Desktop to folder on device
-Cut from Desktop and paste to folder on device

Everything worked fine and i had to confirm every step on the device.
When moving files from Device -> Desktop i was asked to allow deleting
file from device after the move was made. Basically everything works
fine.

Then i tested opening files on the device. Pictures, PDF and text files
everything opened normally on Ubuntu. The only exception i found was
.odf file. Probably LibreOffice related BUG.

Problems i noticed was:

1.) If you want to paste file to device and wait too long "Not
authorized" error occurs. I think this is normal behavior but maybe
interval should last few seconds longer.

2.) If file on device is of the same name as file on the location it
will be sent this will fail and "Another operation in progress" error
will occur and nothing i mentioned above will work after that. Solution
is to unmount the device in Nautilus and start again.

3.) If opening file directly from device in Gedit this does work but
saving the file will fail. This is just something i noticed and it's
probably Gedit related.

Basically everything works fine and i hope to see this fix in regular
updates soon! Fantastic work and thanks!
