Hi Conor,

Thanks again, I do hope there is some way to get this working again; it
worked fine in Oneiric.

Here's the terminal output.

[Bug 527157] Re: Brightness controls skips Levels.

2012-03-28 Thread Dmitriy Geels
Oh yeah! #24 is really dirty one!

But it gave me a clue, how this bug should be fixed:
Patching StepUp/StepDown handlers is very bad practice, because these methods
may be called by some other applications. We need to prevent calls to these
methods depending on some parameter.

The problem itself: bios changes brightness on keypress and reports acpi
keypress event, instead of just reporting event (this might be fixable
in DSDT), then some process handles this event and issues dbus calls to
org.gnome.SettingsDaemon.Power.Screen.StepUp/StepDown methods. Then
g-p-m changes brightness too; g-p-m has no ways to determine, whether it
should change brightness when handling StepUp/StepDown dbus calls, or
not. Neither 'some process' do.

The solution, how I see it: find code, which handles acpi keypresses
(that's not g-p-m, g-s-d may be?) and add user-changeable option there
to disable acpi brightness keypresses handle (e.g. gconf parameter).

[Bug 966885] [NEW] quit should terminate process

2012-03-28 Thread frederik.nnaji
Public bug reported:

The quit option from the the quicklists doesn't terminate rhythmbox.
when rhythmbox is open, playing music, selecting Quit from the File menu
terminates the process and hereby stops the playback, too.

Quit should always mean quit = terminate the process and remove it from memory.
Close is something else, and it is ok if Close does what Window Close does,
wherever Close is afforded.

[Bug 949296] Re: gnome-settings-daemon always prevents suspend when proprietary nvidia drivers are used.

2012-03-28 Thread Jernej Virag
Even if external default monitor is misdetected, that just means that
in worse case scenario the laptop will suspend even if external monitor
is plugged in - which is still noticably less problematic for hardware
(and confusing) than staying on even if suspend on lid close is
selected.

[Bug 966911] [NEW] Nautilus crashes after moving a directory from tab to tab.

2012-03-28 Thread drey
Public bug reported:

In two tabs at nautilus we have two directories in different disk partitions.
When user cuts+pastes any directory from tab to tab in nautilus and switching
back to source tab in less than 2 seconds after paste finished, then nautilus
crashes with this message in /var/log/syslog:
kernel: [time] nautilus[pid]: segfault at c ip 08123ea1 sp some_number
error 4 in nautilus[8048000+19a000]

Size of directory contents doesn't matter.

tried to move an archive, a file, tried copy+paste, moving to the same
partition, moving from 1 nautilus window to another nautilus window -
these are okay.

Tested on these filesystems:
// ntfs = fuseblk
ntfs - ext4
ext4 - ntfs
ext4 - ext4
ntfs - ntfs

ecryptfs doesn't matters here (tried on not encrypted partitions).

Tried sudo nautilus. It crashed with:
** (nautilus:27191): WARNING **: Could not inhibit power management:
GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NameHasNoOwner: Name
org.gnome.SessionManager does not exist
** (nautilus:27191): CRITICAL **: nautilus_file_get_uri: assertion

While testing i got these errors in /var/log/syslog:

I can't use gedit. When I try scroll text document processor loads on
200% (it's double core) and gedit needs few minuter to scroll on one
pixel down. It's horrible.

[Bug 949296] Re: gnome-settings-daemon always prevents suspend when proprietary nvidia drivers are used.

2012-03-28 Thread Martin Pitt
I agree, suspending with default only affects non-xrandr drivers, i.
e. the proprietary ones, and with them quite a lot of things don't work
anyway. The impact of suspending on lid close with external monitors on
them is bearable IMHO, and not a regression.

I'd still include upstream's fix for detecting Apple panels as well,
though, otherwise I'm ok with adding default.

[Bug 963457] Re: [soundnua]: gnome-control-center crashed with SIGSEGV in g_mutex_lock()

2012-03-28 Thread Guy Taylor
Sorry but I am unable to assist with this bug until after the 4th April
as I have to finish my Uni Honours dissertation. I will be more than
happy to help after such time.

This bug consistently appeared when changing from the internal audio, Realtek
ALC269, to an external USB sound card. The following USB products where tested:
 * http://www.roland.com/products/en/UA-1EX/ (In basic and advanced mode)
 * http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/UFO202.aspx
 * http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/UCA222.aspx

It was only present when changing the inputs and not outputs tab in the
sound control centre. I attempted to use the original pulseaudio
manager, but found it has been removed from the repositories (or I
couldn't find it), in an attempt to localise if it was a pulseaudio or
control-centre issue.

This issue was not present when switching outputs on these cards or
between internal and Bluetooth output.

[Bug 966969] [NEW] No notification when someone try to add you in his list of contact

2012-03-28 Thread Mozaic
Public bug reported:

In XMPP you need to allow other to add you in their list of contact.

When i want to add my friend in my contact's list is impossible, he don't have
the notification in Empathy 3.3.92.
If i go to his gmail (i use gmail too) i could add me. In pidgin 2.10.2 he
could have the notification.

Expected:
Have the notification to add the contact who want's to add me.

Sorry for my english.

[Bug 966975] Re: Right Click - Copy item is different Font on highlight/mouseover

2012-03-28 Thread Alex Bruce
yes with Nautilus.

You are right I should have confirmed it a bit more. Closing Nautilus
windows and reopening and issue was gone.

Although right clicking and clicking including left draging then right
clicking quickly after caused me to recreate the problem although this
time with the Zoom Out item in the right click menu in blank space..
again the cleared after closing the window

Then again seemingly random with one of the Open With application
items.

seems to be hard to reproduce reliably. any tips?
