[Bug 933418] Re: [12.04] libglib2.0-0 : Unable to open directory /usr/lib/gio/modules: Error opening directory '/usr/lib/gio/modules': No such file or directory

2012-03-30 Thread Eric Miao
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 966173 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/966173

This is caused by incorrect postinst script in libglib2.0-0. In
debian/libglib2.0-0.postinst.in, around line 16:

  /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/gio/modules|/usr/lib/gio/modules)
# This is triggered everytime an application installs a GIO
# module into /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/gio/modules or the
# backwards-compatible /usr/lib/gio/modules directory
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/glib-2.0/gio-querymodules
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/gio/modules /usr/lib/gio/modules
;;

While moved to multi-arch, /usr/lib/gio/modules could be non-existent, thus
gio-querymodules will complain.

This problem exists with all Google calendars. If you create the event

[Bug 946531] Re: Rhythmbox stops after every internet radio track on 'Absolute Classic Rock' (first in supplied list)

2012-03-30 Thread Chris B
Attached is rhythmbox log for the duration of the track change.

What the user sees:

Track plays normally: 'Highway Star'
Track ends- there is a 1 second break in stream, then a new notification for
the 'commercial break' 'soon - 3281' is shown, and the break starts to play.
After about 10 seconds, the commercial stops playing.
Stop/start is necessary to resume playback. However, the log continues as if
the stream is actually playing, when it is not.

[Bug 965941] [NEW] Microphone (web cam's microphone) settings changes after restart

2012-03-30 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

It's about Ubuntu 12.04 (precise pangolin). I know, that Baltix is not
using it yet, but there are plans to build it on it :) So:

I'm using my web cam's microphone, which is Logitech HD Webcam C270
(http://www.logitech.com/en-gb/webcam-
communications/webcams/devices/7079).

The annoying thing is that after some restarts (not each), input setting
for microphone is changed from C270 web cam's microphone to sound
card's.

It's very annoying as Skype should be restarted, so changes would be
reflected to it's settings.

I believe that this is related somehow to the fact, that webcam and it's
microphone is connected via usb - not via sound card's sound input.

[Bug 969073] [NEW] Seahorse does not allow keyring browsing and accessing passwords

2012-03-30 Thread Marcus
Public bug reported:

After upgrading to Ubuntu 12.04 it is no longer possible to access keyrings and
passwords in the seahorse GUI.
It is possible to search for passwords/keys, but it is impossible to open (as
in browse) the keyring and select a password.
Thus, it is currently impossible for a user to extract or access their stored
passwords in a non-progamming manner.

This error also occurs on a new installation of Precise Beta 2.

[Bug 965279] Re: duplicated battery icon in gnome-classic (notification area)

2012-03-30 Thread Ubuntu Foundation's Bug Bot
The attachment gnome-settings-daemon_3.4.0-0ubuntu3.debdiff of this
bug report has been identified as being a patch in the form of a
debdiff. The ubuntu-sponsors team has been subscribed to the bug report
so that they can review and hopefully sponsor the debdiff. In the event
that this is in fact not a patch you can resolve this situation by
removing the tag 'patch' from the bug report and editing the attachment
so that it is not flagged as a patch. Additionally, if you are member
of the ubuntu-sponsors team please also unsubscribe the team from this
bug report.

would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers
of the software by following the instructions at

tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a
bugwatch that will inform us about its status. Thanks in advance.

[Bug 968446] Re: lock symbol on read-only folder icons sometimes not shown

2012-03-30 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it
would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers
of the software by following the instructions at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. If you have done so, please
tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a
bugwatch that will inform us about its status. Thanks in advance.

[Bug 968898] Re: screen background picture not cached (private triaging)

2012-03-30 Thread Fabio Marconi
Ok, it is /usr/share/backgrounds
To change the background we usually use System Settings - Appearance and in
this way everythings works well, but we can also right-click on an image and
select 'Use as background' (or something similar), in this case nautilus kick
gnome-settings-daemon that copy the directory of the image and paste it in the
background code but forget to copy the image into /usr/share/background too and
to update the background pasted dir with the new generated
/usr/share/background/copied+image.
Under this optic we cannot assign the bug to gnome-control-center that usually
manage the settings for the background, but we have to blame
gnome-settings-daemon.

[Bug 969154] [NEW] Unable to set 1920x1080 resolution in Ubuntu 12.04 Beta2 as a VMWare Workstation 8 guest

2012-03-30 Thread totya
Public bug reported:

My host system is Win7 64bit. My notebook has 1920x1080 native
resolutions. I’m running VMWare Workstation 8 for desktop
virtualization. Today I’ve installed Ubuntu 12.04 Beta2 as a guest. I
was unable to set 1920x1080 resolution on the guest side. The gnome-
control-center display command offered me a lot of other resolutions,
but 1920x1080.

I’ve also installed the vmware-tools, because I assumed the absence of that
tool is the problem. However I’ve had to realize the problem still exist after
a successful vmware-tools installation. (Yep, I did a reboot after the
installation.)
I have to say my Ubuntu 11.10 works like a charm, so for that version the
1920x1080 not a problem at all.

If you need more information to fix this problem, I’m glade to help you.

[Bug 899858] Re: regression in gvfs to connect/browse using obex

2012-03-30 Thread Eric Miao
I did some more testings:

1. checked the source, there are two libdbus-glib functions locally
implemented in daemon/dbus-gmain.c, which are

  - dbus_connection_setup_with_g_main
  - dbus_server_setup_with_g_main

as talked with seb128 and pitti, I did a trial building after renaming
these functions to local_*. gvfs-mount exited immediately with the error
message below:

  $ gvfs-mount obex://[00:1f:5c:01:ac:64]
Error mounting location: DBus error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply:
Message did not receive a reply (timeout by message bus)

Note this happened almost immediately, and followed by a crash report of
gvfsd-obexftp, title of which being:
gvfsd-obexftp crashed with SIGSEGV in _dbus_message_new_from_gerror()

2. Confirmed that making libgvfsdaemon statically linked is enough to
solve this issue. Attached is the minimal change I used.

[Bug 899858] Re: regression in gvfs to connect/browse using obex

2012-03-30 Thread Eric Miao
Checked with daemon/Makefile.am, obexftp is special because of a
different linkage below:

  gvfsd_obexftp_LDADD = $(OBEXFTP_LIBS) $(EXPAT_LIBS) $(libraries)
  if USE_HAL
  gvfsd_obexftp_LDADD += $(HAL_LIBS)
  endif

After configuration, OBEXFTP_LIBS is

  OBEXFTP_LIBS = -ldbus-glib-1 -ldbus-1 -lpthread -lrt -lgobject-2.0
-lglib-2.0 -lbluetooth

So apparently libdbus-glib-1 has the priority to be linked first, and
all invocations of the dbus-glib functions call into the system wide
library firstly.

libgvfsdaemon.so doesn't not link to dbus-glib-1, but links to the local
dbus-gmain.c, which means some other calls into libgvfsdaemon.so could
end up calling the functions in dbus-gmain.c, which creates a more
complicated mixture.

At this moment, and considering the upstream is working on a solution, I
believe a quicker way would be to make libgvfsdaemon statically linked.

** Description changed:

- edubuntu usb live - 20120330 precise daily -
+ gnome-settings-daemon:
+ Installed: 3.4.0-0ubuntu2
+
+

I use a picture located in my destop directory to set my screen background.
If I remove the picture from the desktop itself, I have no background at next
reboot.
N.B. I did the same in ubuntu 11.10 environment and my background is kept on
also if I remove the picture.
