[Bug 976412] [NEW] Graphical display only shows top half of screen
Public bug reported: Display goes black right after boot. If ESC is pressed repeatedly it will show the UBUNTU loading screen as per normal. Once it goes graphical though only the top half of the screen is visible. See this thread for more information. http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1953490 This happens in all versions including daily build up through Apr/07/2012. This applies to new, fresh installation to hard disk from USB or from Liveboot, although Liveboot (Try Ubuntu option) does show fullscreen properly. [Bug 975510] Re: Gedit initiates write by dconf-service when using Replace... dialog
Yes of course gedit stores recent searches. But what bugs me: 1) we enter some text into search field 2) we hit find or replace button 3) text we entered gets added to recent searches in dconf database 4) we see this: kernel: [11053.994218] dconf-service(1656): dirtied inode 4194707 (user) on sda6 kernel: [11053.994225] dconf-service(1656): dirtied inode 4194707 (user) on sda6 kernel: [11055.974400] dconf-service(1656): dirtied inode 4194738 (user.HFP9BW) on sda6 kernel: [11055.974413] dconf-service(1656): dirtied inode 4194738 (user.HFP9BW) on sda6 kernel: [11055.974509] dconf-service(1656): WRITE block 134749472 on sda6 (16 sectors) 5) we hit find or replace button another time (text in the search field is the same) 6) we see this: kernel: [11062.859499] dconf-service(1656): dirtied inode 4194737 (user.2QXUBW) on sda6 kernel: [11062.859514] dconf-service(1656): dirtied inode 4194737 (user.2QXUBW) on sda6 kernel: [11062.859614] dconf-service(1656): WRITE block 134749488 on sda6 (16 sectors) 7) we hit one of these buttons again; text in the search field is still the SAME 8) we again see write as in 6) ... and so on. We don't change text in search field but writes still occur on every press of a find or replace and they may be noticed by hdd sound. [Bug 968383] Re: gnome-power-statistics shows info on first time launched from indicator-power, but not subsequent times
I noticed that when I close gnome-power-statistics pressing Esc on the keyboard, or just clicking the Close icon in the window decoration, window closes but the process remains running. On the other hand, when using the Close button at bottom-right in the window, gnome-power-statistics window closes and process finishes as well. [Bug 459763] [NEW] System Monitor window won't paint
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Binary package hint: gnome-system-monitor I did a fresh install of Karmic. Now when I select the System Monitor tool in the Administration menu, I get a window that won't paint correctly and is just a bunch of vertical and horizontal lines instead. Because of performance issues, I reduced the Appearance - Visual Effects to None so I assume that I'm running Metacity. This bug was filed with ubuntu-bug but I'm not sure if it collected driver information. If not, please let me know and I can provide any additional information that's required. My video card is an old 32MB ATI card and I'm not using any proprietary drivers. I'm certain that this is not a problem exclusive to System Monitor. I had a similar problem with Gnome Do. However, since the System Monitor is part of the core system, is 100% repeatable, and I don't know where I would otherwise file this bug, I chose to file against this package. If the bug really needs to be filed under a different package, please do so, this was just my best guess. I'll be sure to attach a screenshot and my Xorg log file if I see that it's not attached with ubuntu-bug. Thanks! [Bug 894553] Re: Writing metadata to files... never finishes
We're not able to reproduce this so it may be challenging to fix, but we can look at the log file above and maybe that will give us some clues. [Bug 894553] Re: Writing metadata to files... never finishes
Thanks Adam, I also attach the most recent log, maybe it might help. By the way, looks like *_modified files cause this behaviour. In the log I see a lot of timer restarted events, like this: L 30918 2012-04-08 15:53:22 [DBG] Photo.vala:3144: pipeline being run against [11713] /home/dk/Pictures/Photos/2011/08/02/dsc05782.jpg (/home/dk/Pictures/Photos/2011/08/02/dsc05782_modified.jpg), timer restarted. Can it be caused by file system notification on file change? ** Attachment added: shotwell.log https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/shotwell/+bug/894553/+attachment/3028493/+files/shotwell.log -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to shotwell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/894553 Title: Writing metadata to files... never finishes To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/shotwell/+bug/894553/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 894553] Re: Writing metadata to files... never finishes
Dmitry, if this problem currently occurs every time you start Shotwell, could you do the following? 1. Generate a log file following the steps in comment #3 above. 2. Look at the log file to see which photo(s) are being processed endlessly. 3. Send email to shotw...@yorba.org and attach your Shotwell database (~/.shotwell/data/photo.db), the log file (~/.cache/shotwell/shotwell.log) and the photo file(s) which are being processed over and over. That should help us debug this. Oh, and I forgot to add in my previous comment that there doesn't seem to be a gnome-keyring:i386 to get this to work right in Wine: Some packages could not be installed.
