[Bug 986269] Re: Unable to open a folder for 10 GB Filesystem, No application is registered as handling this file... Nautilus pops browser on bash partition mount
I think this is a Unity action, not Nautilus ** Package changed: nautilus (Ubuntu) = unity ** Summary changed: - Unable to open a folder for 10 GB Filesystem, No application is registered as handling this file... Nautilus pops browser on bash partition mount + Unable to open a folder for 10 GB Filesystem, No application is registered as handling this file... or Nautilus pops browser when partition is mounted in bash script ** Description changed: I first noticed this behaviour in Ubuntu 11.10. When I run my bash script that mounts partitions on my hard drive (e.g /dev/sda5), Nautilus pops up with a browser window. This is an illogical action, since I've not 'inserted a drive', it's already there, and it's just been manually mounted. This Nautilus action will interfere with the scripts operation since, when the script tries to unmount the drive (rapidly) it finds that Nautilus is still busy with it, producing it's browser window. If I run chmod 700 on the mountpoint prior to mounting (root only access), then I get a popup message stating: Unable to open a folder for 10 GB Filesystem, No application is registered as handling this file. This is because the mountpoint is not accessible to the logged in user. You wouldn't expect this if you mount a partition from the terminal - and for the most part this is correct (Nautilus does nothing), but not all the time. I've managed to trigger Nautilus to pop just with a simple terminal mount. I have a workaround in my bash script that creates a udev rule and runs udevadm trigger to hide the partition, but this seems extreme. I believe - it's a bug in Nautilus in how it responds to the signal that a partition - has been mounted. + it's a bug in Unity(?) (maybe Nautilus?) in how it responds to the + signal that a partition has been mounted. Please see this for complete details and discussion of possible solutions (and the bash script code): http://askubuntu.com/questions/121569/prevent-nautilus-showing- partition-mounted-in-bash-script I understand you can prevent Nautilus responding to inserted drives etc., but this is definitely not the case here - the drive is already there, just the partition is being mounted. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/986269 Title: Unable to open a folder for 10 GB Filesystem, No application is registered as handling this file... or Nautilus pops browser when partition is mounted in bash script To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/986269/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 968268] Re: Cannot permanently add wallpaper to 'Pictures Folder'
Ryan, we discussed similar issues but not exactly this one, with this bug the currently selected wallpaper is showing nowhere in gnome- control-center, what happens is: - when you use the add button to select a wallpaper the ui change to picture folder with the wallpaper you picked listed and selected - if you close the capplet and reopen it (or go back to all settings and then to appaerance) then image is listed in none of the categories That's a bit of a confusing ui, maybe picture folder or wallpaper should list the image from the gsettings key if it's not already in the list to reflect the currently set wallpaper? [Bug 988241] [NEW] Gedit quicklists don't function correctly
Public bug reported: While gedit is active, when right-clicking on the gedit icon in the launcher, both quicklist options (New window and New document) do exactly the same, they open a new window with two new documents. [Bug 988251] [NEW] Nautilus cut/copy--paste not working
Public bug reported: The problem appears while using the mouse trying to copy or cut / paste links, folders or files from one location to another. After the mouse- right-click drop-down menu selection of 'copy' or 'cut' the second stage - right-click 'paste' (to the desired location) - is greyed out and the selected files won't move/copy. Key combinations CTRL-X, CTRL-C, CTRL-V don't work either. However dragging and dropping with the mouse allways works perfectly. Also using SHIFT + drag with the mouse works correctly. The files are on the local network on a nfs v3-server (Ubuntu 10.04). Permissions are correct and chmod is 755 (as it has always been). This problem came with the Ubuntu 11.10 workstation and has never occurred before. The workstation was upgraded from 10.10 to 11.10 by CD, formatting / (ext4) and leaving Home unformatted (ext4). [Bug 315922] Re: 2.6.27-11 makes brightness not work [2.6.28-4.10 also affected]
Nicolò Chieffo, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. Hardy desktop reached EOL on May 12, 2011. Please see this document for currently supported Ubuntu releases: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases We were wondering if this is still an issue in a supported release? If so, can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ . If it remains an issue, could you run the following command in a supported release from a Terminal (Applications-Accessories-Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report. apport-collect -p linux replace-with-bug-number Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream- testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'. If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'. If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'. Please let us know your results. Running 12.04 with the new Unity Greeter that shows your wallpaper on the login screen. [Bug 938252] [NEW] Unity should alert users graphically when a Bluetooth keyboard or mouse is connected
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Currently on OSX, the operating system informs users if a Bluetooth keyboard or mouse is connected or disconnected, albeit after an initial time. (What I mean by after an initial time is this: it doesn't show it if it's connected in the first seconds of login.) What happens is that an box similar to the Unity box-shown-when-play- is-pressed-and-banshee-isn't-running box is shown with a keyboard icon and a message saying Keyboard Connected. The same happens with a mouse, and it happens both for connect and disconnect. This makes things very convenient. If your Bluetooth keyboard disconnects, you immediately know about it. These features would be very handy in the next version of Ubuntu. [Bug 988352] [NEW] cannot create events in google caledars
Public bug reported: Well, this is actually two bugs: 1) I simply cannot - or only sometimes - create events in a google calendar. I thought I had mentioned it in this bug, but I guess I hadn't --- I also have a triple-head Xinerama config (on an Nvidia Quadro NVS 450). Also, since it may not be clear to those who are not experiencing this bug, when gnome-settings-daemon crashes at startup, it means that most apps (Thunderbird, Firefox, Chrome, etc.) are totally unthemed, and many desktop-wide settings (such as font size adjustments, etc.) are not applied at all. When installed, invest-chart should use #!/usr/bin/python ** Affects: gnome-applets (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-applets in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/988473 Title: /usr/bin/invest-chart has bogus #! line To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-applets/+bug/988473/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 121167] Re: rhythmbox doesn't scrobble correctly tracks to lastfm
I'm still having this problem in Rhythmbox 2.90.1 in Ubuntu 11.10... if I listen to one song on repeat, it doesn't scrobble *anything* -- rather than scrobbling each play, which is what I'd expect it to do. When I take repeat off, however, and just play the track once and let it stop at the end of the single track playlist, it scrobbles fine... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/121167 Title: rhythmbox doesn't scrobble correctly tracks to lastfm To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rhythmbox/+bug/121167/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 881376] Re: Low disk space warning popping up repeatedly.
To disable housekeeping plugin: 1. Open a terminal and make yourself a root user: sudo su 2. Go to /usr/lib/gnome-settings-daemon-3.0: cd /usr/lib/gnome-settings-daemon-3.0 3. Make a backup dir: mkdir backup 4. Move two files to backup: mv housekeeping.gnome-settings-plugin backup/ mv libhousekeeping.so backup/ 5. Logout and login again The most annoying dialog is GONE!
