[Bug 527157] Re: Brightness controls skips Levels.

2012-04-26 Thread Dmitriy Geels
Hmm... really strange.
I made patch ubuntu 11.10, g-s-d 3.2.2-0ubuntu2.1. May be you upgraded to 12.04
already?
Actually, I should make patch for 12.04, as it's latest stable now. Will do
this bit later.

[Bug 527157] Re: Brightness controls skips Levels.

2012-04-26 Thread Dmitriy Geels
Sorry, I didn't write instruction:
- put the file into debian/patches/ dir
- add line 52_brightness_in_hardware.patch to 'series' file in that dir (not
sure if this step is required)
- build package as usual

This patch should be applied last, after all ubuntu/debian patches.
That's why it fails. Have you install package source using 'apt-get
source gnome-settings-daemon' or just unpacked source tarball?

[Bug 438618] Re: gnome-settings-daemon crashed

2012-04-26 Thread Piyush Roy
This issue is reproducible with Intel DX58SO motherboard. It occurs when
when open sites which contains Rich AJAX or flash player. eg Yahoo
Chess. This problem is prominent on Ubuntu Versions greater than 10.04.
I reported this bug Bug 986773 with apport but they also regarded it as
Incomplete. You can also check 971353. I only mentioned one
reproducible path but I am sure there are many and with my experience I
have faced it multiple times. Also in my case, it is worst , the whole
system restarts with the crash.

If this bug is not fixed, then I cannot upgrade from 10.04 or else I
will switch to another Linux OS.

You have been subscribed to a public bug:

[Bug 876007] Re: nautilus uses 100% of CPU

2012-04-26 Thread Ahmed Al-Alousi
Don't you think it's a bit reckless closing bugs and brushing them aside
like this, as if people reporting them are mere idiots. This is a
really serious bug, and only two days ago I managed to waste a complete
48 hours because of the 100% CPU usage and unresponsiveness of the
system.

You say to obtain a back trace; how on earth are you supposed to do that
when the system is simply frozen and the bug affecting not a single
package, but every single package that one can use to copy files across
- take your pick, do a large copy of either a large contiguous file or a
large number of files, and bingo you have it.

One would have thought a team with brains the size of a planet would
surely have seen this, rather than hide behind political crap that
distinguished Micro$oft and it's pile of Windoze trash. So how about
you get off of your hight horse, move those fat a***s, acknowledge the
bug and give a more meaningful answer to everyone's complaints? Bah
Humbug !!

[Bug 958353] Re: Unity launcher and panel are still visible on the lock screen

Same problem: Launcher and panel visible on the lock screen.
The problem was present without suspending or hibernating the computer although
the screen did turn off after a few minutes of inactivity before I noticed the
problem (the music kept playing so I'm sure suspend/hibernate was not
responsible). Maybe a screensaver problem?

[Bug 984075] Re: [power]: gnome-settings-daemon crashed with SIGSEGV in magazine_chain_pop_head()

2012-04-26 Thread zishmusic
Captured debug output from gnome-settings-daemon at the point where my
icons go haywire, and whoopsie reports that a problem occurred.

I renamed the gnome-settings-daemon binary to gnome-settings-daemon.bin,
then put a shell script wrapper around it. Hence the reason that the log
reports gnome-settings-daemon.bin. As such, that can be ignored.

[Bug 988906] [NEW] Memory Usage is exceptionally high

2012-04-26 Thread David Baucum
Public bug reported:

When I start Empathy it uses over 300MB of RAM. When I open a chat window,
that window also uses over 300MB of RAM. This puts Empathy at over half a gig

I just updated to 12.04 from 11.10. The problem started immediately after the
update.

[Bug 988910] [NEW] Problem to mount external drive in Ubuntu 11.10

2012-04-26 Thread Isil - ITM
Public bug reported:

I have upgraded to Ubuntu 11.10 and now I cannot mount any external 80
GB HDD and USB drive. When I connect a drive, it is visible in Files
under devices heading but when I want to open it, I get an message
saying Unable to mount HARD DISK. No authorisation. I tried to find a
way to solve it but I could not find any. I also want to add that I am
not an expert- so can you give me a guidance on how I can solve this
problem. I need it urgently as I have to access my files inside my HDD
and the USB.

Thank you

Open GEdit and three new files in tabs. In every file insert random letters.
- Click on the window button to close GEdit.
+ Click on the window button to close GEdit or menu: File - quit.
Save file dialog window displays only one file at a time in a single line.

Overlay scrollbar appeals displaced atm, imagine to scroll through 10+ files.

  Expected.
Window should be resizable in order to allow an overview of all files which

[Bug 988377] [NEW] Ubuntu 12.04 Beta - Startup Applications doesn't save settings

2012-04-26 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I run Startup Applications select Guake (a quake style terminal) and
click the close button. Reboot the system and Guake is not loaded.
Check Startup Applications and Guake is unselected again. Select it and
click close then reopen and it is again unselected.

To test if it is only Guake I add GEdit to the list and click close.
Then open Startup Applications again and it is missing.

I tried to find the Startup Application pid or package but couldn't find
it.

[Bug 988377] Re: Ubuntu 12.04 Beta - Startup Applications doesn't save settings

2012-04-26 Thread Fabio Marconi
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which
is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper
developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . I have classified this
bug as a bug in gnome-session.

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu-
bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this
functionality at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs.

[Bug 988987] [NEW] The tabs at the top of System Settings have visual glitches

2012-04-26 Thread Fabio Andrade
Public bug reported:

The tabs of System Settings (gnome-control-panel) that are located at
the top, just under the application name bar (the one with
close/minimize buttons), shows some visual glitches. Let`s say I click
on Displays icon (or any other), it will show All Settings and Displays
tabs, but they are too close together, when you select one of them, the
highlight is wrong, because the part between them doesn`t show, which
breaks the rectangular highlights looks.

It was not happening in the beta versions I tested.
