[Bug 958424] Re: [regression] Can't change refresh rate in Displays

2012-05-25 Thread Michał Ciach
I've got this problem too, but in my case, I've got an LCD in which
refresh rate should be set at 60hz. However, the OS reverts it to 75Hz
at every reboot. I think it can be harmful for my LCD due to overheat
and overload. I'd found out that in Xubuntu 12.04 the problem doesn't
exist, so I installed it yesterday at this is true. Xubuntu works like a
charm. But I like Ubuntu more, so I'm hoping someone knows how to fix
it.

[Bug 980317] Re: details - overview disk size includes network mounts

2012-05-25 Thread Sebastien Bacher
@Brian: is the summary matching what you expect?

** Description changed:

- The disk size in details - overview appears to include network mounts such
as NFS in 12.04
- (I can't recall if it did this in previous versions).
+ [Impact]: it's a stable GNOME updated include a fix for disk space
calculation being wrong
+ [Development Fix] the new version is in quantal:
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/1:3.4.2-0ubuntu1
+ [Stable Fix] that's a bug fix update from upstream
+ [Test Case] look to the disk stats in the system settings on a system with
NFS mounts
+ [Regression Potential] the change concerns the info section of system
setting, the regression potential is to have disk space computation wrong in
case it was not before in that dialog (i.e purely informational, nothing rely
on that)
+
+ The disk size in details - overview appears to include network mounts such
as NFS in 12.04
+ (I can't recall if it did this in previous versions).

Is this the correct behaviour or should it exclude network mounts?

This makes the input side look like the output side, so I think it's the
correct solution, but you might want to double-check with cjcurran.

[Bug 1001868] Re: Selecting property file or folder freezing it

2012-05-25 Thread gabbo
Update: Just want to update maybe someone could help me. I have used the
procedure (still trying) but the file that I get (gdb-nautilus.txt) doesn't
report anything about the error showing up. However I attach one of file I got
even the image of error (http://img607.imageshack.us/img607/7262/schems.png)
that shows up. Maybe nautilus is not the program that throws the error I
don'know.
About this problem I can say that happens when I try to look at properties of a
file or directory. After the error shows up if I want, using right mouse click,
to see the properties I got the window frezzed for about 5 minutes, then it
gets back alright as nothing happened.

directories.

the files.

[Bug 995014] Re: vlc controls stay after exit full screen

2012-05-25 Thread Anas Ahmed
K. The time I reported this, they didn't, as far as I remember, which I feel is
correct as the seek bar in the window and the one in these separate controls
display different duration.
Today, two different things happened:
1 They do work with the video getting re-sized but without any borders or
controls attached around it with only these controls remaining from the full
screen and the seek bar displaying the correct duration.
2 The video re-sized with no controls at all. (Attached)

It does not happen every time.
It's kinda tricky. I don't know how it happened the first time, but now, I go
full screen, Alt+Tab to Chrome (v 18.0.1025.168), and drag the title bar down...

It surely has something to do with Chrome. When I run VLC in full screen
and Alt+Tab to a sized window of Chrome and choose maximize it does
happen but in kinda background and VLC (still full screen) becomes the
active window again...

'Is the bug going away if you move a dialog over the area of the
background?' No.

[Bug 990161] Re: launcher-icon-size adjustment very wonky when launcher is visible

2012-05-25 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for your bug report, I guess you use a small screen resolution
which makes the control panel use the screen size, that doesn't happen
on a desktop configuration. Confirming the issue, it's suboptimal but
I'm not sure there is a good way around it (you can middle click on a
slider position to change to it which should avoid the feedback loop
issue though)

[Bug 1004393] [NEW] dual monitors: ugly mirror resolution, fn-f7 does not propose stretching the desktop over the 2 monitors

2012-05-25 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I have 2 monitors.

On login, Unity gives me the same image on both monitors, in a
suboptimal resolution for both (everything is blurry). xrandr gives:

Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1152 x 864, maximum 8192 x 8192
LVDS1 connected 1152x864+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 303mm x
190mm
   1440x900 60.0 + 59.9 50.0
   1360x768 59.8 60.0
   1152x864 60.0*
   1024x768 60.0
   800x60060.3 56.2
   640x48059.9
VGA1 connected 1152x864+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 430mm x
270mm
   1680x1050 60.0 +
   1280x1024 75.0 60.0
   1152x864 75.0*
   1024x768 75.1 60.0
   800x60075.0 60.3
   640x48075.0 60.0
   720x40070.1

Cycling modes with Fn-F7 (this is a Lenovo T410s laptop) gives :
- only the right (external) monitor at its optimal resolution
- only the left (internal) monitor at its optimal resolution
- the above suboptimal mirror.

I expect:
- that the proposed mirror setup would use the preferred resolution for both
monitors, which is possible (see below)
- to be proposed a setup with one desktop that takes both monitors (using their
preferred resolution)
- that the setup chosen by default with my 2 monitors would be a good-looking
one (either mirror or stretched with preferred resolutions).

This used to work in previous releases (both items), though maybe only
for Unity 2D since this it what I was using then.

My workaround to get a stretched desktop:
 /usr/bin/xrandr --output LVDS1 --mode 1440x900 --output VGA1 --mode 1680x1050
--right-of LVDS1

Which gives:

  Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 3120 x 1050, maximum 8192 x 8192
  LVDS1 connected 1440x900+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 303mm
x 190mm
 1440x900 60.0*+ 59.9 50.0
 1360x768 59.8 60.0
 1152x864 60.0
 1024x768 60.0
 800x60060.3 56.2
 640x48059.9
VGA1 connected 1680x1050+1440+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
430mm x 270mm
 1680x1050 60.0*+
 1280x1024 75.0 60.0
 1152x864 75.0
 1024x768 75.1 60.0
 800x60075.0 60.3
 640x48075.0 60.0
 720x40070.1

And to get a nice-looking mirror desktop:
 /usr/bin/xrandr --output LVDS1 --mode 1440x900 --output VGA1 --mode 1680x1050
--same-as LVDS1

Which gives:

  Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1680 x 1050, maximum 8192 x 8192
  LVDS1 connected 1440x900+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 303mm
x 190mm
 1440x900 60.0*+ 59.9 50.0
 1360x768 59.8 60.0
 1152x864 60.0
 1024x768 60.0
 800x60060.3 56.2
 640x48059.9
  VGA1 connected 1680x1050+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 430mm
x 270mm
 1680x1050 60.0*+
 1280x1024 75.0 60.0
 1152x864 75.0
 1024x768 75.1 60.0
 800x60075.0 60.3
 640x48075.0 60.0
 720x40070.1

Once I have executed one of these workarounds, Fn-F7 cycles through
these 2 setups in addition to the ones it does by default.

[Bug 1004479] [NEW] printing pdf fails

2012-05-25 Thread Thomas de Graaff
Public bug reported:

Summary:
I can't print the attached pdf file using evince in Ubuntu 12.04. The pdf
prints fine using epdfviewer. Text documents print fine too.

Problem details:
When trying to print that pdf using evince the cpu load goes to 100%. The
ghostscript (gs) process is the cause of this. When I let it run, it breaks the
printer functionality. I've to plug the usb into another port to make the
printer print again (printer is attached to a Windows 7 computer).

Printer:
HP Laserjet 1018
I'm printing via the network using smb://ip-adress/printername. The printer is
attached to a Windows 7 computer that shares it on the network.

[Bug 1004484] [NEW] Crash when switching input audio to bluetooth headset

2012-05-25 Thread Andreas Hasenack
Public bug reported:

This is a regression. When Precise came out, it was working. After some
unknown update, gnome-control-center started crashing.

I connect a bluetooth headset, go to audio preferences, select the
headset for output, and when I select it for input, gnome-control-center
crashes with this backtrace:

Thank you for your bug report, what did you upgrade when the issue
started? It's not a gnome-control-center issue since that component
provides the system settings application, it's not responsible for
backlight handling not keys interactions

[Bug 993820] Re: The keyboard layout selector does not work

2012-05-25 Thread LordPhoenix
Here is the French names for layout (not sure of their English name
sorry) : «Français (variante)» first and «Anglais (USA)» in second.

I try to change layout using keyboard indicator.

I tried to do something and get strange result, I put them here in case it
would be helpfull :
I tried to put English in first in keyboard layout configuration tool (in Gnome
Control Center), then I get a correct qwerty layout. But when I tried to put
back French layout in first nothing has changed, I stayed on English layout
until I restart my session.

The disk size in details - overview appears to include network mounts such
as NFS in 12.04
(I can't recall if it did this in previous versions).

Is this the correct behaviour or should it exclude network mounts?

From gsettings:
org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.power active true

It works, when I log in with Ubuntu Unity.

[Bug 1004510] [NEW] Cannot maps caps lock to ctrl

2012-05-25 Thread Andrew Larned
Public bug reported:

I have mapped my caps-lock to ctrl, from the keyboard options settings.
The keyboard layout shows caps-lock as ctrl, but when I press caps-lock,
it actually does caps-lock.

1) Start Keyboard Layout
2) Open options
3) Open Ctrl key position
4) Select Caps Lock as Ctrl
expect: Caps Lock acts as Ctrl
result: Caps Lock acts as Caps Lock

[Bug 837196] Re: Cannot change bluetooth name

2012-05-25 Thread Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre
So, kind of Triaged for gnome-bluetooth, since it's pretty clear what
we're missing is some kind of hostnamed helper for the hostname, which
will also affect the bluetooth device name. See
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-
center/+bug/962369

Also, this happens to demonstrate a bug in bluez, since it doesn't
appear to follow the settings in /etc/bluetooth/main.conf; where the
rule for the hostname is set. The values are simply ignored and we
should fix that. Seems to me like a pretty simple thing to fix too, if
someone wants to hack at bluez :)
