[Bug 1033734] [NEW] 'universal access preferences' crashes and/or causes unity freeze
Public bug reported: Steps to reproduce: 1. Make accesibility icon appear in tray (it appears after opening 'System Settings' -> 'Universal Access'). 2. Click on that icon and open 'Universal Access Preferences' window. 3. Marking 'Make text larger and easier to read' checkbox causes crash. With my current configuration it is the only available checkbox. After clicking that checkbox windows titlebars and some other parts of screen containing text seem to redraw, after that 'Universal Access Preferences' window: disappears (offering me to send bug report) OR freezes OR makes unity freeze (freeze occured only once, after several earlier crashes). Sometimes it doesn't crash (but still it doesn't "make text larger and easier to read"). Options 'Text size' and 'Contrast' in 'System Settings' -> 'Universal Access' works fine. [Bug 873712] Re: Lack of GstMiniObject means Gst.Message is broken, can't get EOS signal
Oleg, As far as I know, this fix can't be backported. I don't think it's possible to properly support GstMiniObject because it wasn't designed with introspection in mind (remember, the GStreamer 0.10 API is almost 7 years old now). I don't believe it's possible to fix this without breaking the 0.10 API. And this is just one of many issues that make it impossible to fully use GStreamer 0.10 from PyGI. However, I imagine that GStreamer 1.0 will be made available through at least precise-backports. As it's parallel installable with GStreamer 0.10, it's quite safe to backport as it wont effect any existing 0.10 using applications. I think a case could be made for even backporting GStreamer 1.0 packages into Universe, but I don't know what the policy is there. Anyway, I agree it's a bummer that Python + Gtk3 + GStreamer isn't usable in Precise. But g-i and PyGI are big transitions, and these things just take time. If you want to start porting your app, there are GStreamer 1.0 packages in Quantal and there are packages for Precise in the GStreamer dev PPA (also in the Novacut stable PPA now): https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Novacut/GStreamer1.0 Cheers! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to pygobject in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/873712 Title: Lack of GstMiniObject means Gst.Message is broken, can't get EOS signal To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/novacut/+bug/873712/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 997630] Re: evince and eog broken on remote sessions (X, NX, x2go and VNC)
@chasedouglas & @bregma: I've looked into this problem some more and the fix should be relatively trivial. I'll attempt to briefly describe the cause of the error, outline a simple solution, and will attach a patch that can be applied to the utouch-geis 2.2.10 source which fixes the problem for me. The cause of the delay is that `_geis_wait_for_init` attempts to wait a full 5 seconds (GEIS_DEFAULT_INIT_TIMEOUT) or until the Geis backend is initialized. In the event of a failure, i.e., when no backend can be initialized, the 5 second waiting period is still observed. To fix this bug, we need only signal the failure of the initialization process so we can abort from `_geis_wait_for_init` immediately. To do so, I propose the following changes: 1) Add a new GeisState, GEIS_STATE_ERROR 2) Set geis->state to GEIS_STATE_ERROR whenever no backend can be initialized and we are out of fallbacks. 3) Check for geis->state == GEIS_STATE_ERROR in _geis_wait_for_init and abort. ** Patch added: "libutouch-geis-state-error.patch" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/geis/+bug/997630/+attachment/3250585/+files/libutouch-geis-state-error.patch -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evince in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/997630 Title: evince and eog broken on remote sessions (X, NX, x2go and VNC) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/geis/+bug/997630/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Public bug reported: When initially trying to import all of my photos (about 27 000, man RAWs), Shotwell kept crashing. I discovered it ran out of memory during the operation. I finally managed to get it to finish by increasing my swap space to 32GB. However, everytime I launch the application while the "watch library directory for new files" option is switched on, it starts an auto-import process (even if there are no new files) and the application ends up consuming a huge amount of RAM that it never releases. As you can see in the attached screenshot, the application -- which had been running for some time, no new photos to import -- is using more than 15GB of memory. [Bug 591608] Re: All accounts was lost after attempting to call by audio on gtalk
Hi Brian, You said: - "the only changes I made to my PAM config files was what is required to support LDAP authentication" - Two years later i have the same problem, and it's not related to empathy itself, the apparmor profile denies the filesystem write on a special homedir different to /home or /root. In my case my samba/winbind authentication profile map the homedir to /home/MYDOMAIN, and my uid 1, i got this error: myubuntu kernel: [ 2054.314126] type=1400 audit(1343778981.574:105): apparmor="DENIED" operation="mkdir" parent=1 profile="/usr/lib/telepathy /mission-control-5" name="/home/MYDOMAIN/myusername/.mission-control/" pid=3090 comm="mission-control" requested_mask="c" denied_mask="c" fsuid=1 ouid=1 Why empathy worked? Because it writes the config in /tmp as fallback, when the cron job for cleaning /tmp run and you close your account: The empathy contacts dissapear. I have solved it modifying the file /etc/apparmor.d/tunables/home: Look for this line: @{HOMEDIRS}=/home/ And add your homedir base, i will use my winbind homedir : /home/MYDOMAIN/ some LDAP servers use /users as homedir. @{HOMEDIRS}=/home/ /home/MYDOMAIN/ And restart apparmor: /etc/init.d/apparmor restart You may disable apparmor as alternative if you have related telepathy- apparmor problems, check your syslog. Finally forgive my basic english, spanish is my natural languaje, i hope it works for other users with similar problems. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to empathy in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/591608 Title: All accounts was lost after attempting to call by audio on gtalk To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/empathy/+bug/591608/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Same problem to me. Nautilus hangs and then gives up with a "Could not register the application: È stato raggiunto il timeout" message. Workarounds; $ Sudo nautilus keeps working.
