[Bug 1044974] [NEW] Rhythmbox hangs with stupid alert box when syncing iPod
Public bug reported: Having deleted all the songs from my iPod Touch 16GB I was trying to put another 10GB of songs back on. Wasn't optimistic, thanks to Apple's obfuscated protocols, and sure enough about a half hour later the whole thing had hung, with a blank alert box and a greyed out screen. The music I was playing went on for a bit, but even that has stopped now. Screenshot attached below, and no, I didn't want 50 copies of Texas Put your arms around me. Please don't take this as a sign of my musical tastes. It was a test run with my girlfriend's music and clearly a bug that it is somehow writing so many of the same track to the iPod, or maybe a visual glitch. Hopefully apport has attached relevant PID information now, so I'm going to force quit it and try again. [Bug 1044974] Re: Rhythmbox hangs with stupid alert box when syncing iPod
Attempting to unmount, kill nautilus or force-unplug the iPod had no effect, so I ran ps aux | grep gvfs | awk '{print $2;}' | xargs -n1 sudo kill -9 ...which killed the iPod mount and caused Rhythmbox's hanging on blank alert box behaviour to resolve itself. It's offered to reinitialise my iPod. It has no models in the list of possible models, but I gave it a name and clicked on initialise anyway. My library seems to be intact now it's actually loaded. I'll see what's happened to the iPod eventually. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to rhythmbox in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1044974 Title: Rhythmbox hangs with stupid alert box when syncing iPod To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rhythmbox/+bug/1044974/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

When it offered to initialise my iPod the device was no longer connected, as it turns out. The iPod has songs on it, and can be browsed through Rhythmbox as long as I don't try to copy files onto it. Checking the filesystem with Baobab shows that it indeed has about 3.6 Gig of songs, and is not full, (i.e. plenty of space before the 16GB limit) cefn@cefn-precise-dell:~/.gvfs/Cefn’s iPod$ df . [Bug 1045166] [NEW] Sometimes gnome-terminal does not paint characters on the screen.
Public bug reported: Behaviour: Sometimes gnome-terminal does not repaint the screen correctly after the text has changed. This happens in only a few specific cases that I have encountered, yet happens fairly reliably in those cases. I have not been able to track down exactly what situations in general reveal this bug, but I have been able to reproduce it reliably with the following steps: 1) Create a gnome-terminal window which is 80x24. Other sizes may work as well, but it is important that the number of rows is fewer than the number of lines in the attached test script. 2) Run the attached test script in the terminal. What should happen: The screen should be reset, then the program should be output, then after a 1 second delay, the screen should be reset and the program should be output. What happens: The second time the program is printed out, the screen is not painted correctly. I am running 12.04.1 Precise, x86-64. I first encountered this problem at least two versions ago. I have encountered it on two different computers, both using the proprietary nvidia driver. The bug occurs whether or not a compositor is used, and whether or not transparency is turned on in gnome-terminal. Based on this, I doubt that the problem is the nvidia driver. ** Affects: gnome-terminal (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-terminal in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1045166 Title: Sometimes gnome-terminal does not paint characters on the screen. [Bug 1045168] [NEW] gnome-panel moves when open trash shortcut
Public bug reported: 1. Log into Ubuntu 12.04 using Gnome Classic 2. Use the Alt-Rightclick context menu on the bottom panel, select Add to Panel and add a Trash icon in the bottom right where the trash icon used to exist in Ubuntu 10.04 etc. 3. Alt-Rightclick the bottom panel again and select Properties, unselect the Expand checkbox so that the panel shrinks when programs close and expands when programs are started. 4. Click the trash icon in the bottom right of the panel. The panel will now be stuck to the mouse pointer and move with it, as though you have clicked the far left or far right side of the panel and held down the mouse to move it. To unstick it you have to move your mouse to the centre bottom of the screen and click one of the sides to move it again. This happens every time you open the trash from the panel. I can provide screenshots etc. if anyone can't follow the instructions above.
