[Bug 959874] Re: gnome-settings-daemon crashed with SIGSEGV in ubuntu_osd_do_notification()

2012-10-01 Thread funicorn
No, It affects my Acer laptop too. Gnome-settings-daemon crashes when
pressing Fn+left/right arrows, which in my case is the XFree86 key to
control LCD brightness. However Fn+up/down arrows which is for volume
control works normally. I'm working on Ubuntu 12.10, amd64.

By the way, why do I see a lot of bugs marked as "Fix Released" which
actually are still there ?

Note, the dialog is not the same one that I get if I click shut down on
the cog menu. IT only seems to appear when I press the power button.

[Bug 1049028] Re: Unable to create gmail account

2012-10-01 Thread Bazon
It is possible to integrate Google Calendar and Contacts anyway:

For the calendar, add an "on the web" calendar and enter the ical-adress
of your Google calendar. If you have dates with e-mail-notification, you
get an endless series of warning popups saying evolution calendar
doesn't support e-mail notifications for dates, so you have to kill it
and the process "evolution-calendar-factory".

Google contacts can be integrated the normal way, so I suppose it's
really about Google calendar here.

[Bug 1059897] [NEW] home folder freezed

2012-10-01 Thread cecilIpasic
Public bug reported:

home folder freezed : most of actions are impossible to do.

- selection of items (folders and files) impossible
- rename folder/files impossible (because keyboard freezed with home folder ;
BUT typing on gedit, browser possible)
- cut, move or delete folder/files impossible
- changes places impossible
- unmount storage impossible (but mount done)
- close windows by clicking on 'X' case impossible : but possible only with
File/close all windows.

Bugs too :
- to open trash possible but impossible to close trash folder
- right click on the desk for changes background impossible
- icon of hard disk storage doesn't offer "unmount" just "open". But icon of

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it
would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers
of the software by following the instructions at

[Bug 861171] Re: Shutdown from greeter does nothing when multiple accounts open

2012-10-01 Thread parq
@ethanay

I agree with you.

This is just an example of the expected behavior, imho:

a. Normal user + other users logged:
"You just can't turn off the computer because there are more users logged.
Please talk to an admin." [ok]

b. Admin user + other users logged:
"There are more users logged in the system. Are you sure?" [Yes/No]

With only 1 user logged (normal or admin) don't ask and shutdown.

Regards,

[Bug 1059843] [NEW] Rhythmbox wants to erroneously initialise my iPhone

2012-10-01 Thread Alan Pope
Public bug reported:

Plug iPhone 4S running iOS 6 into laptop running Ubuntu 12.04
Rhythmbox pops up a dilog titled "ipod Detected" and says:-

"Rhythmbox has detected a device that is probably an uninitialised or
corrupted iPod. It must be initialised before Rhythmbox can use it, but
this will destroy any song metadata already present. If you wish
Rhythmbox to initialise the iPod, please fill in the information below.
If the device is not an iPod or you do not wish to initialise it, please
click cancel."

[Bug 1049028] Re: Unable to create gmail account

2012-10-01 Thread Bazon
$ grep evolution ~/.xsession-errors
(evolution-alarm-notify:2263): libecal-WARNING **: Failed to dispose cal view:
Verbindung ist geschlossen
(evolution-alarm-notify:2263): Gdk-WARNING **: evolution-alarm-notify: Fatal IO
error 11 (Die Ressource ist zur Zeit nicht verfügbar) on X server :0.

"Verbindung ist geschlossen" = "connection is closed"
"Die Ressource ist zur Zeit nicht verfügbar" = "the resource is not available
right now"
(I wish there still was a language selection in LightDM or GDM... :-( )

Thanks for informing about the possibility to uncheck the two checkboxes. I
tried to add the calender manually (I want the calender in the Gnome-Shell
top-panel!), evolution is showing that google calendar is opened in the
statusbar, but this statusbar-status never changes.
I did $ grep evolution ~/.xsession-errors in that state, after trying to add
the calendar manually.

Is there anything showing up in ~/.xsession-errors, messages from
evolution that could explain the issue seen here?

Could you please attach the output of:

grep evolution ~/.xsession-errors

Thanks!

[Bug 1049028] Re: Unable to create gmail account

2012-10-01 Thread Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre
The account addition will succeed if you uncheck the last two checkboxes
on the last screen -- those about adding a calendar and contacts to the
Google account.

I'm not sure exactly if it's a bug in Evo or in gnome-online-contacts,
but the issue is defined enough that we can move this to "Triaged".
Setting priority to Medium. We should definitely try to fix this before
release, it's very confusing even if the workaround is pretty simple.

[Bug 1059767] [NEW] Empathy wrong background color selection in kubuntu

2012-10-01 Thread Oliver Borm
Public bug reported:

I am using empathy in kubuntu 12.04. When selecting text in empathy,
either in the history or at the input, the text color is switched to
white, but the background color stays also white. So you'll end up with
white text color at white background. The text is marked correctly and
you can copy it. I think empathy does in ~/.kde/share/config/kdeglobals
not consider the

[Colors:Selection]
BackgroundNormal=67,172,232

but stays with

[Colors:View]
BackgroundNormal=255,255,255

As a "workaround" you can change

[Colors:View]
BackgroundNormal

to something different than white, but then your complete desktop is
changing ...

[Bug 986692] Re: Unmutting sound effects using the slider doesn't work

2012-10-01 Thread James M. Leddy
** Description changed:

+ [IMPACT]
+
+ When users unckeck the "Mute" checkbox on "Alert volume" you reset the slider
and the checkbox is automatically unchecked. However, the "Alert volume" is not
actually unmuted. This is a significat design issue for obvious reasons, but
also has the side effect that if the the user does not know that he's not
getting audio alerts (s)he may miss some important work.
+ When
+
+ [TESTCASE]
+
+ After poking with it a bit, I think I just isolated it: it only happens
+ when instead of unckecking the "Mute" checkbox on "Alert volume" you
+ reset the slider and the checkbox is automatically unchecked. Visually
+ the end result is the same (non-zero volume leve and unckecked box) but
+ how you get there has different effect. By the way the "Output volume"
+ slider doesn't have this problem, only the "Alert volume".
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+
+ Small. The code has been merged upstream and has been tested in both
+ upstream and ubuntu. The diff is only one additional line of code.
+
+ [Original Report]
+
+
  Sound--> Tab "Sound Effects"
After bringing alert volume to the minimum none of the selected alert was
working. Everything else is ok. Sound in other places is perfect.

[Bug 1034488] Re: Rename "Aeroplane mode" to "Flight mode"

the bug specifically mentioned the en-GB translation; but I presume the
intention would be change to change the base C string to also be "Flight
Mode". There are 53 other translations of this string:

  grep -A1 'Airplane Mode' gnome-control-center po/*.po | grep msgstr >

[Bug 1034488] [NEW] Rename "Aeroplane mode" to "Flight mode"

2012-10-01 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

In network settings, the toggle to turn on/off radios when you are on a
plane is titled "Aeroplane mode" which is the British-English spelling (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aeroplane_(disambiguation) ). The US-
English would be "Airplane mode".

"Aeroplane mode" feels overly traditional, and has been replaced largely
on devices with "Flight mode", which is also more accurate as it is the
flying that is the problem, not just being on a plane (e.g. when the
plane is not moving you are allowed to use device radios).

[Bug 253167] Re: Rhythmbox sort by "Album Artist" for guest/compilations

2012-10-01 Thread Piedro Kulman
Quickly installed the new version ...

No I didn't really expect this bug to be fixed ... it's too fresh ...
just about 5 years ... as it is 2.98 is still not usable for albums
with one albun artist but some somngs with collaborations ...

Now there is musicbrainz lookup which makes it worse cause musicbrainz
enters EVERY collaboration ... many albums now have more than one artist
but are no compilation ...

whatever ... devs don't understand or don't care - why should I?
It was just 5 minutes installing and uninstalling again ... but I will set
rhythmbox on the wishlist of Ubntu bugs to remove from Ubuntu ...

thx, piedro

In my case, I have videos that will not play at all (though they played
fine in Lucid) and Nautilus cannot display a properties window for the
affected files. Other files play the audio but no video. Some files play

[Bug 1021183] Re: after some time when evolution runs in a wild loop of fetching messages and removing messages from cache

2012-10-01 Thread Nicolas Krzywinski
This bug affects me as well.

I did not encounter locks of the ldap account though.
But the hyper-activity of Evolution leads to maximum i/o usage which sooner or
later blocks the whole system. It is really hard to close Evolution then,
because even the mouse pointer needs minutes to move ...
It takes approx. 3-4 hours until this behaviour occurs.

The Exchange email account is used in parallel from 2 other clients as
well (Outlook).

Ubuntu 12.04 x64
Kernel 3.2.0-29-generic
Evolution 3.2.3-0ubuntu6
evolution-mapi 3.2.2-1

I can confirm that the proposed fix in #155 (replace level4nl by

Re: [Bug 1035273] Re: [Precise] Accessible for rename text entry isn't marked "editable"

2012-10-01 Thread Attila Hammer
Sebastien, unfortunately I have very bad news:
I morning looked with Ubuntu 12.10 current daily live CD, and possible
the Quantal awailable Ubuntu level modified Nautilus version not
containing this very important a11y fix. So now Ubuntu 12.04 and Ubuntu
12.10 awailable Nautilus versions not containing yet this fix.
In Ubuntu Quantal following modified nautilus version are awailable:
nautilus | 1:3.5.90.really.3.4.2-0ubuntu2

Reproducation steps in Quantal to you verify this:
1. Launch Orca.
2. Goto your home folder, and press F2 key. Try moving with arrow keys
the edit box. Orca will not spokening any character the edit box if you
using for example left or right arrow keys.

I ofcourse known why need Ubuntu level modifying the Nautilus package,
because GNOME developers upstream level removed some users important
functions (changing desktop background into desktop the context menu, etc).

Attila
