[Bug 1073789] [NEW] Cannot add Windows Live account in Online Accounts

2012-10-31 Thread Sah Lee
Public bug reported:

To reproduce:
1) System Settings -> Online Accounts -> Add account... -> Windows Live
2) Log in
3) Yes

Expected:
Redirected back to Online Accounts window, and Windows Live account shown in
the list view on the left side.

Actually:
A black spinner shown for a second or so, and then nothing.
After a few minutes, I was redirected to Online Accounts, and I don't see my
Windows Live account there.
The gear button on the top-right corner of my screen turns red.

Additional info:
I'm behind a proxy.
I can add other accounts like Facebook and Google.
I cannot add Twitter account but it looks like a different problem to me, so I
reported another bug.

I noticed this as well, after installing GNU PSPP, clicking
Help>Reference Manual, and then quitting. "yelp info:pspp" showed 100%

above in GNU PSPP, yelp showed up again, but wasn't using any CPU, and
exited after I quite PSPP. This is on natty (Ubuntu 11.04) on a Core2

[Bug 1073745] [NEW] "New separator" button causes crash

2012-10-31 Thread Kevin O'Gorman
Public bug reported:

As near as I can tell, the "new separator" button never does anything.

In addition, in a menu I created, Settings->Games->AisleRiot (not to be
confused with the item of the same name), pressing this button sometimes

they end up, or I'd send it)

[Bug 1071345] Re: empathy contacts list compact mode is missing in 3.6

2012-10-31 Thread Robert Lange
I did not confirm my own bug report. If you look at the history,
Launchpad Janitor confirmed the report (comment 2) because multiple
people said that it affected them.

Then, in comment 3, qwazi referenced another bug, and in comment 4,
Bilal Shahid responded with a workaround for the unrelated bug, and
marked this bug as incomplete, questioning if the workaround mitigated
this bug. Of course it did not, because it is not related to this bug.
I corrected this and reset the status to "Confirmed", which is what it
was before comment 4 was (IMHO erroneously) posted.

Please reset the bug report to "Confirmed".

[Bug 1073637] Re: libpango1.0-dev needs a compile/link/run test

2012-10-31 Thread Ubuntu Foundation's Bug Bot
The attachment "libpango1.0-dev_build.patch" of this bug report has been
identified as being a patch in the form of a debdiff. The ubuntu-
sponsors team has been subscribed to the bug report so that they can
review and hopefully sponsor the debdiff. In the event that this is in
fact not a patch you can resolve this situation by removing the tag
'patch' from the bug report and editing the attachment so that it is not

[Bug 1073702] [NEW] Problem with file name

2012-10-31 Thread Risto Haavistu
Public bug reported:

I imported my iTunes library to rhythmbox. Everything seems to be fine
except a problem with one file. The original filename was 08 As Wool.m4a
and the song did not show up in thythmbox library. If i changed the name
to 08 As_Wool.m4a, it was there. Seems to be a joke?

[Bug 1038336] Re: "Exract Here" in thunar does nothing

2012-10-31 Thread Geert Jan Alsem
And here's a manual fix for Thunar users:

Optionally, first make a backup of the file we're about to edit:

# sudo cp /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/thunar-archive-plugin/file-
roller.tap /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/thunar-archive-plugin/file-
roller.backup

Now we edit the file file-roller.tap (which is where the command for
thunar-archive-plugin is stored) to remove the --extract-to option. The
command will still work because the --extract-here option remains:

# sudo sed 's/"--extract-to=$(pwd)" //' /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu
/thunar-archive-plugin/file-roller.tap | sudo tee /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-
gnu/thunar-archive-plugin/file-roller.temp > /dev/null; sudo mv
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/thunar-archive-plugin/file-roller.temp
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/thunar-archive-plugin/file-roller.tap; sudo
chmod a+x /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/thunar-archive-plugin/file-
roller.tap

[Bug 1072838] Re: GDM 3 disable-user-list=true does not work with gnome-shell greeter

2012-10-31 Thread Collin O'Reilly
Same with Ubuntu Gnome Remix 12.10 - editing has no affect, editing
greeter settings file either manually or with gsettings.

Not advised to edit user uid or /etc/login.defs file as workaround, to
hide uid's, unless you never intend to lock your screen. If you use
screen lock, after screen locks you can't log back in. The gnome shell
lock is a wallpaper clock that you need to slide up out of the way to
unlock. After you slide it up, although you can see your loging id and
picture, you can't type in your password that field isn't activate. You
also cannot execut ctl+alt+f1 to drop to cli, nor is there an option on
lock screen for shutdown or restart. The user gets stuck there and is
forced to do a hard shutdown. At least, I wasn't able to find any
gradeful way out of that mess...!!! lol

[Bug 1038336] Re: "Exract Here" in thunar does nothing

2012-10-31 Thread Geert Jan Alsem
I did some more research. When you do "Extract Here" in Thunar, it uses
the following command to extract:

file-roller --extract-to=/home/example/foo/bar/ --extract-here --force
/home/example/foo/bar/test.zip

The problem is with the --extract-to option. If I remove that it works,
and any call to file-roller with --extract-to makes it crash.

If I look at file-roller's manpage, it does list --extract-to as a valid
option, so it really is a bug in file-roller.

[Bug 964270] Re: Ubuntu forgets keyboard shortcuts after a restart

2012-10-31 Thread Teague Sterling
I am not sure if this is actually the same bug but the symptoms seem to
be consistent; maybe it should be a separate bug report.

I did not have this bug in 12.04 but it showed up after upgrading an existing
system to 12.10. It also manifests itself in the exact same way on a brand-new
system with a fresh install of 1210.
It seems settings (including but not limited to keyboard shortcuts) for certain
Compiz plugins are occasionally reset to their default values after a system
reboot or crash. I think I have seen this occur after using the compiz settings
import/export functionality as an easy workaround, as I have also occasionally
lost the settings without reboot.

As stepankk mentioned above it seems to affect some shortcuts that use
Alt and Super but does not always affect all of them. I have experienced
reset settings and shortcuts from the following plugins: General
Options, Desktop Wall, Expo, Ubuntu Unity, Move Window, Resize Window,
Grid, and Gnome Compatibility. Again, these do not always all revert
together. It seems the Move Window, Resize Window, and Grid plugins seem
to reset with the most frequency on the new machine and the Ubuntu Unity
Plugin settings on the upgraded machine.

[Bug 1038336] Re: "Exract Here" in thunar does nothing

2012-10-31 Thread Geert Jan Alsem
May be related to bug 978789. Someone on that bug page says it also
happens with PCManFM, so that would mean it's not a Thunar specific bug,
although I have not tested that myself.

I can say that installing file-roller 3.6.1.1-0ubuntu1 from the
"proposed" repository does not fix this bug.

[Bug 1069207] Re: Unable to edit or add items to main menu

2012-10-31 Thread Martin Spacek
@Marcel, I think I've noticed the same. I copied the system's xfce-

/etc/xdg/xdg-xubuntu/menus/xfce-applications.menu, I don't remember
which) to my ~/.config/menus folder, and have been editing that file by
hand. In the "Applications Menu" dialog that pops up when you right
click the menu and choose properties, I have the custom menu file option
selected, and I have it set to ~/.config/menus/xfce-applications.menu

[Bug 950160] Re: Unity blocks other programs from binding globally to Super+* (* = any key)

2012-10-31 Thread Steve Magoun
I tested the following on a Dell XPS13 running 12.04 LTS. These packages
did not fix the super-p key behavior:

compiz - 1:0.9.7.8-0ubuntu1.5~test2
gnome-settings-daemon 3.4.2-0ubuntu0.4
unity - 5.16.0-0ubuntu2~test1

The unity + compiz packages came from https://launchpad.net/~unity-
team/+archive/ppa/+packages

To install the unity/compiz packages I used 'apt-add-repository ppa
:unity-team/ppa' then apt-get update && apt-get install unity compiz.

After installing these packages and rebooting, I observed that the
function key for monitor-switching (Fn-F1) did not cause the video
output to switch. Instead the super key seems to be consumed by Unity
and the 'p' key is passed to applications - resulting in a stray 'p'
being typed into whatever terminal/text box/application has focus.

[Bug 887139] Re: Middle clicking the keyboard layout indicator has behaviour inconsistent with other indicator applets

2012-10-31 Thread Jeremy Bicha
As I said on IRC today, I don't think there's much point in trying to
fix this now as we plan to recode the keyboard indicator during the
raring cycle as a standalone indicator instead of as a patch to gnome-
settings-daemon.

Once that's done, then we should look into fixing this bug.

When I am in the middle of viewing a photo slideshow with Shotwell,
Ubuntu will turn off the screen after 5 minutes. The photos are changing
every couple seconds during the slideshow, shouldn't this prevent the
  screen from being turned off?

[Bug 1002537] Re: Shotwell "Send To Email" doesn't attach multiple photos

2012-10-31 Thread Sebastien Bacher
** Description changed:

+ Impact:
+ Trying to send multiple file, from shotwell, by email doesn't work every time
+
+ Test Case:
  1) Open Shotwell
- 2) Select multiple more than one photo from your library
+ 2) Select multiple more than one photo from your library
  3) Right click on the selection and choose "Send To..."
  4) At "Send To" window accept default settings and click OK.
  5) Choose "Send as: Email" and click send.

  Result:
Thunderbird opens but there' just one photo attached to the email, not all of
them.

  Expected result:
All photos should be attached to the email.
+
+ Regression potential:
+ Check that "send to" is adding the correct files
+
+
+ ---

  Workaround:
At the "Send To" dialog window use the "Scaling constraint" to change the
size and then all photos will be attached to the email.

I can reproduce this every time. I have used small photos so that the
size of the attachment won't be a problem. I'm not sure it's a
regression but I don't remember having this issue in Oneiric. I will
  test with Evolution if necessary.

[Bug 430981] Re: keybindings not remembered on reboot

2012-10-31 Thread Sébastien Pierre
When configuring the keys to go to left/right workspace through System
Preferences -> Keyboard -> Shortcuts, shortcuts are only functional for
the current session. Logging out or rebooting resets the keyboard
shortcuts to their default.

The bug is probably due to some conflict between Compiz's own config and
Gnome's keyboard shortcuts .

[Bug 1069207] Re: Unable to edit or add items to main menu

2012-10-31 Thread Marcel Admiraal
I've found that the changes are saved in
~/.config/menus/applications.menu, which is ignored by xfce. Renaming
the file to xfce-applications.menu applies the changes -- a workaround.

[Bug 12154] Re: Nautilus should have a superuser mode

2012-10-31 Thread Chris Wilson
there are many possible ways to fix this, some obviously easier than
others. I'm going to target this for a paper cut milestone for the time
being so we can keep track of it, and forward it to the upstream
Nautilus devs later and see what they think.

I think a simple solution would be to add an option to the context menu
that says " as administrator", or some variation on a
theme. This would perform the action in the relevant application with
root privileges without having to elevate those of Nautilus.

[Bug 227301] Re: Tooltips when hovering over folders

2012-10-31 Thread Jeremy Bicha
>From the upstream bug report:

https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=681801 is about adding an integrated
previewer. I think that is a much more
interesting approach than using tooltips. For one, it can work with single
click mode and touch. And is much less fiddly.

** Changed in: nautilus (Ubuntu)
   Status: Triaged => Won't Fix

** Bug watch added: GNOME Bug Tracker #681801
