[Bug 1071345] Re: empathy contacts list compact mode is missing in 3.6
I did not confirm my own bug report. If you look at the history, Launchpad Janitor confirmed the report (comment 2) because multiple people said that it affected them. Then, in comment 3, qwazi referenced another bug, and in comment 4, Bilal Shahid responded with a workaround for the unrelated bug, and marked this bug as incomplete, questioning if the workaround mitigated this bug. Of course it did not, because it is not related to this bug. I corrected this and reset the status to "Confirmed", which is what it was before comment 4 was (IMHO erroneously) posted. [Bug 1072838] Re: GDM 3 disable-user-list=true does not work with gnome-shell greeter
Same with Ubuntu Gnome Remix 12.10 - editing has no affect, editing greeter settings file either manually or with gsettings. Not advised to edit user uid or /etc/login.defs file as workaround, to hide uid's, unless you never intend to lock your screen. If you use screen lock, after screen locks you can't log back in. The gnome shell lock is a wallpaper clock that you need to slide up out of the way to unlock. After you slide it up, although you can see your loging id and picture, you can't type in your password that field isn't activate. You also cannot execut ctl+alt+f1 to drop to cli, nor is there an option on lock screen for shutdown or restart. The user gets stuck there and is forced to do a hard shutdown. [Bug 1038336] Re: "Exract Here" in thunar does nothing
I did some more research. When you do "Extract Here" in Thunar, it uses the following command to extract: file-roller --extract-to=/home/example/foo/bar/ --extract-here --force /home/example/foo/bar/test.zip The problem is with the --extract-to option. If I remove that it works, and any call to file-roller with --extract-to makes it crash. If I look at file-roller's manpage, it does list --extract-to as a valid option, so it really is a bug in file-roller. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to file-roller in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1038336 Title: "Exract Here" in thunar does nothing To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/file-roller/+bug/1038336/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 964270] Re: Ubuntu forgets keyboard shortcuts after a restart
I am not sure if this is actually the same bug but the symptoms seem to be consistent; maybe it should be a separate bug report. I did not have this bug in 12.04 but it showed up after upgrading an existing system to 12.10. It also manifests itself in the exact same way on a brand-new system with a fresh install of 1210. It seems settings (including but not limited to keyboard shortcuts) for certain Compiz plugins are occasionally reset to their default values after a system reboot or crash. I think I have seen this occur after using the compiz settings import/export functionality as an easy workaround, as I have also occasionally lost the settings without reboot. As stepankk mentioned above it seems to affect some shortcuts that use Alt and Super but does not always affect all of them. I have experienced reset settings and shortcuts from the following plugins: General Options, Desktop Wall, Expo, Ubuntu Unity, Move Window, Resize Window, Grid, and Gnome Compatibility. Again, these do not always all revert together. It seems the Move Window, Resize Window, and Grid plugins seem to reset with the most frequency on the new machine and the Ubuntu Unity Plugin settings on the upgraded machine. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/964270 Title: Ubuntu forgets keyboard shortcuts after a restart To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/964270/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1038336] Re: "Exract Here" in thunar does nothing

[Bug 950160] Re: Unity blocks other programs from binding globally to Super+* (* = any key)
I tested the following on a Dell XPS13 running 12.04 LTS. These packages did not fix the super-p key behavior: compiz - 1:0.9.7.8-0ubuntu1.5~test2 gnome-settings-daemon 3.4.2-0ubuntu0.4 unity - 5.16.0-0ubuntu2~test1 The unity + compiz packages came from https://launchpad.net/~unity- team/+archive/ppa/+packages To install the unity/compiz packages I used 'apt-add-repository ppa :unity-team/ppa' then apt-get update && apt-get install unity compiz. After installing these packages and rebooting, I observed that the function key for monitor-switching (Fn-F1) did not cause the video output to switch. Instead the super key seems to be consumed by Unity and the 'p' key is passed to applications - resulting in a stray 'p' being typed into whatever terminal/text box/application has focus. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/950160 Title: Unity blocks other programs from binding globally to Super+* (* = any key) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/compiz/+bug/950160/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1002537] Re: Shotwell "Send To Email" doesn't attach multiple photos
** Description changed: + Impact: + Trying to send multiple file, from shotwell, by email doesn't work every time + + Test Case: 1) Open Shotwell - 2) Select multiple more than one photo from your library + 2) Select multiple more than one photo from your library 3) Right click on the selection and choose "Send To..." 4) At "Send To" window accept default settings and click OK. 5) Choose "Send as: Email" and click send. Result: Thunderbird opens but there' just one photo attached to the email, not all of them. Expected result: All photos should be attached to the email. + + Regression potential: + Check that "send to" is adding the correct files + + + --- Workaround: At the "Send To" dialog window use the "Scaling constraint" to change the size and then all photos will be attached to the email. I can reproduce this every time. I have used small photos so that the size of the attachment won't be a problem. I'm not sure it's a regression but I don't remember having this issue in Oneiric. I will test with Evolution if necessary. [Bug 12154] Re: Nautilus should have a superuser mode
there are many possible ways to fix this, some obviously easier than others. I'm going to target this for a paper cut milestone for the time being so we can keep track of it, and forward it to the upstream Nautilus devs later and see what they think. I think a simple solution would be to add an option to the context menu that says " as administrator", or some variation on a theme. [Bug 227301] Re: Tooltips when hovering over folders
>From the upstream bug report: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=681801 is about adding an integrated previewer. I think that is a much more interesting approach than using tooltips.
